THOUSANDS CELEBRATE AS DOMINICA LABOUR PARTY EMERGES VICTORIOUS IN GENERAL ELECTIONS

Roseau, Dominica, May 9th 2005……Thousands of supporters of the Dominica Labour Party converged in the Labour party stronghold of Portsmouth on Thursday evening to celebrate their party’s triumph in the general elections in grand style.
The entrance to Burroughs Square in Portsmouth was blocked with vehicles and jubilant supporters from about 7pm as news of their party’s victory at the polls continued to pour in on television and local radio stations. |

Roseau, Dominica, April 29th 2005………Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit has accused the Leader of the United Workers Party, Hon. Edison James of signing an agreement with the Republic of China on Taiwan to “explore the possibility of re-establishing diplomatic relations with the ROC within 90 working days of the United Workers Party being sworn in as the new Government of Dominica.”
The Dominican leader made the revelation at the endorsement rally of Education Minister, Hon. Vince Henderson in the village of St. Joseph on Sunday. |

OPINION POLL REVEALS DOMINICA LABOUR PARTY WILL WIN THE MAY 5 POLL

Roseau, Dominica, April 8th 2005………The Dominica Labour Party will win at least two additional seats in the Dominica Parliament in the general elections on 5 May 2005.
The findings were revealed in an opinion poll conducted by Caribbean Development Research Services Inc from Barbados. |

Roseau, Dominica, April 8th 2005………Political Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party and Tourism Minister, Hon. Charles Savarin, created history in the Soufriere Constituency last night when he spoke at a labour party meeting in Scottshead in support of Dominica Labour Party candidate, Mr. Ian Pinard.
On Tuesday, April 5th 2005, the leaders of the two parties in the coalition government signed the Roseau Declaration, a document that sets out the details of an electoral accommodation to fight the May 5th 2005 general elections. This Declaration restated the commitment of both parties to working together for the good of Dominica. |

UWP Calls Prime Miniter's Statements Boyish

Leader of the Opposition Edison James has described as boyish statements made by Prime MInister Roosevelt Skerrit at the Dominica Labour Party's Convention Rally on the weekend. Prime MInister SKerrit while addressing the large audience at Bath Estate Sunday said that a potetial Doctor contesting the next General Elections on a UWP ticket was owing the Governmnet over seven hundred thousand dollars in over due taxes. However Leader of the Opposition Edison James feels that this is an abuse of the Prime MInister's power. He said this was tauntamont to giving a loaded psitol to a child. Meanwhile, the said Doctor, Doctor Curvin Ferriera has told a local media hous ethat he is contemplating legal action agants the Prime Minister. Doctor Ferriera said that he did not owe any taxes though he was part of a company which may owe taxes to the Government. |

Labour In Bath Estate

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has told supporters of the Dominica Labour Party to expect a landslide victory at the polls at the next General elections. Speaking at the party's annual convention rally in Bath Estate yesterday, the Prime Minister warned United Workers Party MPs that he was coming for the seats he thought were vulnerable. He sighted the Grandfond and Mahuat seats as those his party could make in roads into. Both seats now belong to the UWP but in the 2000 Eections the DLP candiadtes lost by less than 200 votes |
