PRIME MINISTER SKERRIT LAYS OUT HIS VISION FOR DOMINICA

Roseau, Dominica – November 17, 2008…….. Dominica’s Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit has laid out his vision for Dominica as the Government seeks to build a modern economy in the face of mounting challenges in the international arena.

 

In his Address to the Nation at the Parade of Uniformed Groups on November 3rd 2008, the Prime Minister said that at the national level, “the new thrust must be based on maintaining platforms of energy, agriculture, tourism and enhanced citizenship“.

Raymond Lawrence and Dubique Cultural Group awarded the EO Leblanc Trophy for 2008

Mr. Raymond Lawrence and the Dubique Cultural Group were jointly awarded the prestigious Edward Oliver Leblanc Trophy for their contribution to Dominica’s culture at the 2008 National Cultural Gala at the Botanic Gardens in Roseau on Sunday, November 2nd 2008.

 

The National Cultural Gala is one of the highlights of the independence activities when all groups from all over the island converge on one stage to display their talents in the varied manifestations of Dominica’s rich cultural heritage.

The day featured a Church Service in the morning, followed by an Agricultural, Industrial and Artistic Exhibition at noon and climaxed with a spectacular Cultural Gala and the honouring of a Cultural Elder in the afternoon.
