One question CNN failed to address: Was this official acting on his own or do they have established rules prohibiting political slogans on their suits? If the latter is true, this girl had no grounds to consider her political views an exception. The rules should apply equally to everyone.

The rule violation in this case was the size of the logo on the swimsuit. This rule would apply to anything written on the swimsuit that is not a team name or logo. It is meant to keep the focus on athletic performance and not turn swimmers into advertisements or activists.
