Roosevelt Skerrit has said that the current global economic situation is likely to have a negative impact on Dominica. The Dominican leader also highlighted the measures being implemented locally to deal with what is being described as the worst world economic crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Reggae Veterans Drop Albums Today l

NEW YORK, NY, Tues. April 21, 2009: Two of Jamaica`s top reggae singers, Denroy Morgan and Sizzla are both set to release new albums today.

Morgan launches his `musical ministry` with his latest release Theocracy Reign, in stores today, April 21 on the Asaph Records label distributed through VP Records. This 14 song selection features Denroy Morgan, Morgan Heritage, LMS, Glenda Phillips-Lee (Ethiopian Orthodox Coptic Church) and Clifford Branch on piano.

Government hands over keys to 12 homes in the community of Chance in Portsmouth

Roseau, Dominica – April 16, 2009………………Parliamentary Representative for the Portsmouth constituency and Minister for Tourism, Hon. Ian Douglas has said that the Labour Party Government is delivering to the people of Portsmouth.

 

Hon. Douglas made the announcement at a ceremony in Chance, Portsmouth to hand over the keys of twelve (12) newly built homes, financed by the Government of Venezuela.

Passenger lands turboprop plane after pilot dies

plane.jpgMIAMI, Florida (CNN)  — It’s a nightmarish scenario straight out of the movies: A passenger is forced to land a plane after its pilot becomes incapacitated.

“Descend and maintain 5,000. Just take your time, we’ll set you up for the airport,” an air traffic controller says.

In a calm voice, a passenger responds: “I need to get my throttle set for this descent. I don’t know where to set it at.”

The reality was playing aboard a plane over Florida on Sunday in what the National Air Traffic Controllers Association called “an Easter miracle.”
