2009 /2010 BUDGET PASSED DURING FIRST MEETING OF THE FIFTH SESSION OF THE SEVENTH PARLIAMENT

Government receives authorisation to guarantee loans to AID Bank and Government Housing Loans Board in an effort to assist public officers and

stimulate economic activity

 

Roseau, Dominica – August 11, 2009….. During the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the Seventh Parliament, the 2009/2010 Budget was passed. During that Meeting, Parliament gave its approval for Government to guarantee loans to the Dominica Agricultural, Industrial and Development Bank (AID Bank) and the Government Housing Loans Board in furtherance of specific development objectives.

President Liverpool Responds to Public Discussion on Issues of Governance During Address to Members

Roseau, Dominica – August 10, 2009……. President of Dominica, His Excellency, Dr. Nicholas Liverpool, D.A.H, O.C.C. used the occasion of the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the Seventh Parliament on Friday, July 31, 2009 to respond to the ongoing public discussion on a number of issues related to governance and in particular the role and powers of the President especially following the 1967 Associated Statehood and 1978 Independence Constitution.

Commission of Inquiry cost tops 2 million

St John’s, August 05, 2009 – The Antigua Labour Party condemns the multi-million dollar price tag on the UPP’s politically motivated Commission of Inquiry as a totally vulgar and hostile act of disrespect to the public interest.

While the UPP has sentenced the people of Antigua and Barbuda to suffer increased economic hardships dishonestly blamed on the global financial situation, Baldwin Spencer and Justin Simon have the unmitigated gall to squander over two million dollars on their name and shame election gimmick.
