Speaking at Public Education Forum 2020, candidate Tom Steyer said the nation has to stop looking to education budget cuts to save money. "The idea that cutting education is cutting expense is the stupidest idea I have ever heard in my life. It is also deeply unjust," Steyer said.

Cut funding to “publick skuls,” until they start actually educating our kids, rather than indoctrinating them, and until the education produces better results than graduating seniors who cannot read at third grade level.

Considering the billions that have been spent over the decades on education and where the US students rank among other nations
students I would say the money is not the issue. I would say the problem is thinking that the Federal Government has a clue.
I suggest you put Education back in the hands of the States where elected officials can be held accountable by the voters.
The Bureaucracy of a Federal ran education system is a large part of the problem. Teacher unions are another.
