’60 Minutes’ called out for ‘flawed’ story on GOP governor

CBS' '60 Minutes' is under fire for a segment that suggested Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' roll out plan was tied to campaign donations. CNN's Brian Stelter says this kind of mistake will fuel the Republican narrative about the media.

  1. Then you should point out he gave the first doses to that very wealthy gated community too. So you’re doing a hit job on 60 Minuets!

    1. I saw this posted somewhere: History of US Presidents in emojis: 👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏽👴🏻👴🏻

    2. Did he?…I am pretty sure it was based on age, it isn’t like the gated community people being vaccinated were in their 20’s. By the way, they also lead the nation in vaccinations, and are seeing a wave of people, of all races and political sides, moving to their state..He is doing something right.

    3. It was based on age. It turns out that people in retirement are generally more wealthy than younger people.

    2. @A W wow that’s sad to look at even more so considering we’re the only major western power to not have a female leader I believe or one of the few and the old white guys are getting older

  2. If 60 minutes put out a story and say they will defend it don’t bother them and ron desantis is involve it’s the damn truth

  3. Blah, blah ,blah, bottom line he is the Governor and ultimately responsible for running things, not knowing, not being informed are not the right answer! That is the problem with our government we only have someone in charge until the sheet hit the fan then everyone scatters and starts pointing fingers! FOK THAT SHEET, it happens all the foking time! We definitely need some leaders in this country and with ballz please I’m tired of these chicken sheets taking an oath seems like oaths don’t mean sheet anymore!

    1. @dave dennison OK
      1. Saying that Andrew Cuomo did a good job handling Covid in New York even though he didn’t with the nursing homes scandal.
      2. Calling last year’s riots “mostly peaceful protests” with a burning building in the background.
      3. Saying that Donald Trump incited the riots even though he said to fight peacefully and patriotically and condemned the riots. You can fight me on this one… you’ll lose.
      4. Saying that Jacob Blake was an unarmed black man shot by police when he actually had a knife.
      5. Calling Georgia’s voting laws racist when it really isn’t close to being racist.

    2. @Mark Fiore Your good to get the hell out of the sunshine State if you don’t like it so much. Open borders means you can cross into Georgia and when you find some snowflakes to congregate to your home🤣

  4. I find it ironic that the same people who say they don’t trust the government only trust information from the same politicians running the government instead of independent journalism.

    1. @Matt Ferguson i agree. the reason we have left and right slanted media is because americans by and large don’t want to educate themselves about their politicians. so they dig up a “news” outlet that supports their views and accept what they say as the truth. they get half truths and marginal to outright lies. to be honest there are very few news outlets that don’t have a slant in one way or the other. americans by and large don’t have a whole lot to chose from.

    2. @Nathan Ray Tim Pool comes to mind as a non biased, report the facts conservative media outlet. Just my opinion though. Search up “Tim Pool” on here and see what you think.

    3. @Denis Lessard I know most Americans won’t do this but they could get an objective view by watching news from outside the country like CBC, BBC, Reuters, France24 since they don’t have a stake in it. Unfortunately people will seek out what they want to hear instead of the truth.

    4. @Nathan Ray Nope. Fox is by far the worst of the media outlets with it’s blatant and crazy hit pieces they constantly run YET repugs complain about msm …Are they all completely deluded or what !

  5. So nothing has been proven wrong in the story by 60 minutes which was also reported by Florida news months ago… meanwhile Fox News spews intentional lies all day every day and is never called out 😳😳😳

    1. One basic thing, 60 minutes stated Publix had “exclusive” access to give vaccines. CVS and Walgreens were the first. That alone should’ve never made it on air.

    2. Charles, you clearly made that wrong comment without viewing the truth LEFT OUT. Wise up…you’re being played.

    3. That’s what I love about you liberals if you see something blame Trump if you see something you don’t like blame Fox News CBS lied about the whole thing deal with it!

    4. I saw this posted somewhere: History of US Presidents in emojis: 👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏻👴🏽👴🏻👴🏻

  6. Publix doesn’t build their stores in minority neighborhoods. They build in upscale communities. The accusation against the government is credible. DeSantis as Florida’s CEO is responsible.

  7. MSM must be above reproach in order to re-establish their credibility. I hope they can do it because we need information we can trust. Stay healthy everyone! 🇺🇸😷🇺🇸

    1. @Alex Walker I didn’t see the 60 minutes segment. I do know how bad Ron DeSantis is. I cannot comment on what l did not see.

    2. @Ellie B. the Hill is generally very good, Jimmy Dore, while I 100% disagree with him on Illegal immigration and “free college” is exxxxcellent and so correct on many things. And I’m sorry, but Tucker Carlson is miles better than anyone out there. If he goes, there is nobody willing or literally allowed to call things out for what they are….nobody that isn’t a virtual propaganda machine for the left or right. Wherever he goes, that network either will explode in ratings from where they are, or they will simply dominate the other networks. FOx as a network is so echo chamberish for most of the day 🥱🥱🥱.
CNN needs Tucker. And they need to let him go open season on all the pathetic hosts segments under his prime time spot. This would be like summer slam WWF, every single day.

    3. @Alex Walker Jimmy Dore is super anti-illegal immigration…. Anyway, it’s harmful when presenters become media celebrities with their own cults, when half the country considers Tucker their Holy Bible (whose slot is labeled an “opinion segment,” so that he can say whatever the heck comes to his mind), and the other half of the country is the Rachel Maddow diehards. You can’t tell me that Tucker wouldn’t get in trouble in he ever reported anything REMOTELY good about the libs. He even got major backlash for mildly saying that he hasn’t received the requested proof of election fraud from Sidneypowellreleasethekraken. Conservatives labelled Fox as “part of the deep state” after they called the election for Biden, and some even tried to STORM their headquarters right after. The Frankenstein Fox has created turned against its creator. if you’re under the illusion that Tucker can TRULY say anything bipartisan, imma gonna have to interrupt and point out that you’re no better than the Rachel Maddow crowd. You can’t criticize MSM and then in the same breath say Tucker isn’t forced to be biased- he is the KING of MSM- his segment is THE MOST WATCHED on the MOST POPULAR channel in the U.S. how much more mainstream can you get! But he definitely is smart and charismatic, I just wish he wasn’t on the dark side…and didn’t lose Hunter Biden’s hard dive in the mail 😂😂😂 not a good look lol

    4. @Alex Walker CNN and Fox are the Crips and the Bloods, same with Trump and Hillary, and Hillary and Bernie. They’re the Yin and Yang, they couldn’t survive without each other. But this is all showbiz to keep you tuned in and keep their ratings up, to keep us distracted while the government bipartisanly fleeces the American people and the MSM helps them. The media are NOT our friends, and the presenters aren’t our buddies—their jobs are to keep high ratings and satisfy their advertisers, period, full stop. To tell their audiences what they wanna hear and keep em entertained

    5. @Nancy Ross you might not like him, but as of now he is not “bad”, not at all. In fact, 60 Minutes made a mistake in trying to do future damage control for democrats by trying to land something “big” on DeSantis, as they know he is the 2024 Presidential hopeful at the moment. BUT, it is so early still, AND they were full of S in their attempt and should recant.

  8. Expect Fox News to run this 24/7 for the next month and be a featured segment for every blathering Shouting Head.

    1. Yah because we wouldn’t want the truth to get out now would we?!?!
CNN would neeeeever do such a thing, because they would never report the TRUTH!

      CNN=Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally
      “FAKE NEWS!”

    2. @m douglas better watch you don’t get sued by Faux News, they copywrited “fake news” as their motto.

  9. This type of “only report what fits my narrative” type of reporting that the MSM (this goes for both sides) does is exactly why people do not believe anything they say. The fact that they double downed and refused to correct their story solidifies people’s reasons as to why the do not believe what MSM says.

  10. What? Publix donated to Ron desantis’s campaign? Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods for me from now on…..
