@Tom McDermott it’s more complicated than that, if someone sneezes in your general direction you’re in trouble even masked up but if there are droplets lingering in the air it will still protect you even if it’s not n95 and besides the point of masking up is not to “protect yourself” from the virus it’s to avoid inadvertantly infecting others but THAT apparently is such a conscienous and considerate decision that it’s uniquely and deeply unamerican. The Japanese do it when they’re sick, and it’s one of the reasons their society is in some respects actually vastly superior to ours. Obviously Japan is not a utopia, but neither is America. Our two countries have a lot of flaws it’s true but they do some things right and we do some things right.

@Tom McDermott You are correct but only to a point. The virus cannot travel on it’s own, it needs something to carry it to some one else. When people speak or breath the virus uses our breath as a way to travel to others.
Masks aren’t good at filtering out the virus, but it is respectably good (not perfect) as a way to stop the breath that carries it.

JR It is stupid because wearing a face mask is harmless. It is selfish not to wear one because in not wearing on you risk sickening, disabling, and killing others. You risk shutting down other people’s businesses depriving others’ of their services and the owners of their livelihood. You contribute to record unemployment with loss or health insurance, record evictions, and overwhelming hospitals and ICU’s so that those needing medical services may not have access to them. You contribute to the lack of sports, entertainment, and to the closure of schools. Americans are banned from trace to most other countries. Without the use of masks if hospitals become overwhelmed lockdowns become locally necessary. Your area may not be a “hotspot” right now but people travel around in this country, the virus is not going to disappear, and in winter people will be crowding indoors. Please obey mask mandates or order take out or order supplies delivered . Stay home or stay outdoors and socially distance. No one is wearing a mask because they are afraid—masks don’t protect the wearer. Non wearers who ignore doctors’ common sense advice are the political pawns. They are the sheep being manipulated to act against their own interests. Running around spouting nonsense: “Look at me not wearing a mask making everyone sick and killing the economy and shutting down hospitals!! I’m so free!! You sheep wearing masks are so stupid protecting society!! I’m going to make up nonsense Constitutional rights to keep ruining everything for everyone including myself!! I want another Economic Depression!!”

The only time I get “scared”, ill, upset, disgusted, disappointed etc: etc: is,
1-when I hear trump speak as if he is an expert on the C.Virus, makes any suggestions for cures, because he considers himself more knowledgeable than the true experts!
2-when trump thinks that his words will in the least make the educated people in America believe his words, without reading and researching what he says from proven reliable sources-the expert Medical & Research experts, not conspiracy theories!
And, Fauci is not cited anywhere to gain from any C.Virus drug produced, nor as an inventor, or patent owner, or has he authored any research on a C.Virus drug cure.
Trump and the conspiracy theorists want to smear Fauci to deflect trump’s own complete incompetence in the handling of the C.Virus in America.
The “fake news” comes straight out of trump’s mouth, and many from his loyals, such as several anchors at faux news and his supporters who just repeat his words, without question, and the only-only thing trump has achieved in his life, is how to manipulate people to serve his self-interests-period.
