A New Year Comes With A New Hope For Overcoming Challenges That Test A Nation | Rachel Maddow

  1. This New Years Eve will be dim people getting together to continue the spread of a terrible pandemic. Unfortunately, not enough people have realized that crowds are dangerous, especially without a mask.

    1. @TheBase1aransas “are going to”

Yeah yeah, “it” is always juuuuuust around that next hill, isn’t it.
      #sheep

    2. @T Electronix : Yeah, CNN and MSNBC were hanging on by a thread, just about to lose all their viewers, or get shut down, or, “be exposed,” or some such nonsense, for the last 4 years? You’d think they’d cringe with embarrassment just to show up again to troll for trump and PooTin now? But, they just keep on truckin’ like the lobotomised drones they are 🤦‍♂️. Personally, I’d rather have a full bottle in front o’ me, than a full frontal lobotomy (👈 you have to say that sentence out loud, to appreciate it 😉) but that’s trump’s NPC’s for ya’. If brain cells were dynamite, they wouldn’t have enough between ‘em to blow off one maga-dunce cap 😁. Happy New Year to you and yours. It sure can’t be any dumber than 2020 ✌️👍

    3. @TheBase1aransas I used to feel sorry for people like you, so weak and easily led. Then along came individual 1 and his corrupt band of thieves and damned near destroyed this great nation, largely with the backing of dumb, easily led people like you. The pity I once felt for you fools is gone. You disgust me.

    4. @Constituent A I suggest you find another country. “The best is yet to come.” And it’s going to be glorious. God Bless

    1. Only their grip on the White House ends, but their fight for survival will be more vicious and less bound by rules. Winning the Cold War II has been one thing. But, winning the peace will require all of us to do our part. The best thing that could happen, for the sake of National Security (given the inbuilt cowardice of our enemies; both foreign and domestic) is that they all are swiftly brought to JUSTICE and made EXAMPLES of, as a deterrent. Our job is to DEMAND that justice, regularly. Record turnout on both sides, means that politicians dare not ignore the electorate. We must join our voices, and keep demanding swift, merciless, harsh justice, for the sake of America’s future existence. The Cold War is about to heat up. Be prepared. Be ready. Happy New Year to you and yours. ✌️👍

    2. @darthvader5300 : What would an East European NPC like you know about America, madam? 🤦‍♂️ . . . Stop being such a Karen and get over yourself 🙄

    3. @Ash Roskell It is ‘a house of cards’ built last 10+ years, having Georia, Crimea and gas streams in the news, and White House as the crown jewel. Hopefully we are at the bottom-rock now, starting from the top safely down everywhere.

  2. Nice send off Ali.. Let’s hope this is the bottom. Happy New to you, Rachel the team and the pepe’s.

  3. Things have been on a downward spiral since Reagan. Trickle down? Just say no? Could we have any bigger failures? Pffft. Rethuglicans have no solutions.

    1. I was thinking exactly that. The 31st will be a, “F’k you!” Drink Up, to the last 4 years, for me. Whereas Jan 20th WILL be celebration! I was wondering how many others felt like the new era doesn’t even start until then? My dad died of Covid in the Summer, and I’ve watched poverty and civil unrest tear America a new A Hole throughout the DUMBEST year in American history. The next 4 years need to be spent on making another Donny Type Traitor an impossibility. And that’s the hope I’ll be celebrating, if any? . . . All good things to you and yours. Happy New Year ✌️👍

    2. @Ral Deform : 2021 doesn’t start until Jan 20th for me. My New Year’s Eve celebration will be more of a f’k you to the last 4 years, and a welcoming of change. Can’t wait till the Trump’s are locked up. Happy New Year✌️👍

    3. @Ash Roskellmy Condolences to you and Family.Trump’s irresponsibility caused a lot of people pain and sufferings.

    4. @Ash Roskell He will not be locked up, but he will be in prison in his mind. Every day from the 20th till the day he dies he will be known only as a fool, he knows it, we know it, and that is what will drive him insane.

  4. Amen. Love Rachell. Thank you for sounding on a positive note Amen. We Will Pull through. We will go through the fire. Amen !

    1. I was thinking, for how many Americans will it feel like the real new year doesn’t even start until Jan 20th? Now, THAT WILL be something worth celebrating. Happy New Year to you & yours ✌️👍

    2. @TheBase1aransas 👈😡❄️: 🤦‍♂️ Trump’s done, Karen 🙄 Get over yourself . . . 🥱 . . . 😴

  5. brilliantly said, ty mr velshi. and a much needed reminder. this too shall pass. we have been through tough times but together we will come through it. a very happy and safe new year my friend!

  6. After everything that’s happened this year (including the death of my dad, from Covid) I think we’re all glad to see the back of 2020. But, let’s face it? 2021 doesn’t really start for decent Americans, until Jan 20th. Wishing you, Rachel, your Journalists, producers and technicians all . . . Happy New Year, and THANK YOU 👍✌️

  7. The “great” USA comprehensively failed to meet the pandemic.

Other countries and governments managed it and are continuing to but not good ol’ US of A.

  8. This is beyond a challenge. This requires cleanup in so many aisles until it will take consistent action to defuse this this trash bomb left behind by this administration. Everything good thing is at stake and we should act like it. 2021 is the year of Action. Move it or loose it. Happy New Year!! I think.

  9. Hope is here! Sending my hope to the World for a healthy and Happy New Year. We’ll dance and sing again in 2021. Woo Hoo!

  10. A new year comes with a new hope of jailing every single person who is trying to destroy our democracy. Better yet cage them like the Trump admin. has done to the children.

  11. Ali Velshi did a great job as a reporter this year and showed huge growth to step up to become a bold truth teller. His coverage of the protests were especially good. Journalists need to care more about the nation than rules of objectivity.

  12. And now is the Winter of our discontent! Add Spring to that too!

Nevertheless, a Happy and Healthy New Year to all.
