After a two year hiatus, the White House correspondents’ dinner is back | USA TODAY

The White House correspondents' dinner is a star-studded event after two year hiatus due to COVID-19
RELATED:

In what was the first in-person iteration of the event in two years and the first since 2016 that welcomed the sitting U.S. president, the WHCD (known affectionately around the beltway as "nerd prom"), is an annual event that honors reporters covering the White House and raises money for journalism scholarships.

Since the final WHCD of Barack Obama's presidency in 2016, the event hasn't lived up to its reputation as D.C.'s biggest celebrity night of the year – until now.

  1. It’s back! That wonderful time when the elite, connected, and powerful “leaders” of us (our Masters, don’t you know) gather to cluelessly and arrogantly mock the people they consider their “subjects” while patting themselves on the back for being so powerful.

  2. So DOJ trying to reinstate mask mandates for plane , trains , and boats , but no problem at this event? 😂

    1. Cooties don’t spread among those that spread the idea of cooties because they know the cooties aren’t real.

  3. “Isn’t it absolutely gut-wrenching and existentially heartbreaking that so many people are dying who’ve never died before?” — Herodotus, fifth-century BC, Greek historian. Please wear the talisman/amulet, firmly sealing the mouth and nose! Repeat the sacred incantation/mantra, often: “Follow the science! We’re all in this together!”

  4. These people should be ashame of themselves. Celebrities are the idealogue of what it means to be non significant. Behind all the laughs and smiles there’s the notion of complete and utter disregard for others as pertaining to selfish and conceitable incoherent self loathe.

  5. Who really gives a damn. A political even for an incompetent president and the biased press. I have better things to do, like take a dump.

    1. @Tim Coker who are “they?” It is likely a corporate policy and the catering staff are likely a part of a third party company. It probably has nothing to do with those politicians, celebs, and press, and more to do with some business owner wanting their company and their employees protected from various outcomes, such as illness, risk, legalities, etcetera. Critical thinking people, it’s important.

  6. The big guy in there giving it all he’s got trying to save his tanking ratings and the Democratic party before the midterms.

    1. Wasn’t that great when they got that big tax cut under Trump? Now they’re even richer.

  7. Themes for last night’s gathering of the Inner Party with the senile Big Potato:
    War is peace
    Freedom is slavery
    Ignorance is strength.

    1. @Samudra Manthan No I had eaten dinner earlier in the evening, though I’m intrigued by your curiosity about my eating habits

    2. @NWpilot07 As a devout congregant of the immaculate Collective, my unconditional kindness and compassion radiates to all sentient beings, as well as to Gaia! Always remember to uphold and defend our sacred and sacrosanct democracy, by suppressing free speech.

  8. Why on earth does anyone care what actors think about anything. If I needed help with homework or studying I asked one of the smart kids, not the kids playing pretend in drama club.

  9. All these people literally smell their own farts and think theirs is the best… the worst kinds of people in the world at one party… Ill pass😂😂

  10. If you swap “correspondents” with “paid corporate propagandists” in the title I think you would come much closer to the truth.

  11. Ah yes Rich politicians living privileged lives thinking they know whats best for the average citizen.

  12. Thank God I did not vote for Joe Biden. Also they tell us to wear masks but they don’t have to

  13. Aww I didn’t even know that actor Leslie Jordan was still alive, hadn’t seen him in anything in so long, glad to see he isn’t gone!
