    1. That is very true, and I also understand Mattis’ desire to maintain respect to the Office. That said, I can’t help but think that there’s a lot of serving members who are thinking, “somebody please get this loon out of Office before he gets me killed for no real reason”.

    2. Joy Phillips what you don’t get is many of us didn’t support Obama. But Obama isn’t the topic any more, it is a madman that is suffering from cognitive decline with dictator tendencies.

  1. I cannot stand to listen to this president talk. He speaks like an idiot–no knowledge, no insight, no common sense. Communication skills of a second-grader.

  2. A what point does his “Duty” transcend just his patriotic service/duty, but a more dynamic sense of duty, for the greater good?!

  3. The Founding Fathers would be turning over in their graves if they were witnessing this parade of upper echelon Trump sycophants. Generals Flynn, Kelly and Mattis, as well as Mueller all have absolutely failed in their respective civilian roles insofar as they relate to Donald Trump. They have allowed a despot to repeatedly desecrate the Constitution and still remain silent when their country needs them the most. Mission Not Accomplished.

    1. @terry vick I agree with much of what you say here. But regarding the DoD and former military personnel in office I disagree about their role as being “apolitical”. Upper echelon officers are very much involved in politics and bureaucracy. When you hold an office such as Sec. of Defense you are in even more of a political position. In fact, you are at the nexus of US military power and the political world. I never said anything about a military coup. My main point is that once these officials see Trump’s true madness and ignorance they should be more forceful in their condemnation of him. It is called speaking truth to power. If the 25th were ever used it would be because of the testimony and professional opinions of people such as Mattis. By leaving office and writing a book without even condemning Trump by name, he appears to be profiting from this continued dabauchery.

    2. @Fred Jones I agree that he did it by the book and put it all out there for the politicians to digest, cherry pick, and weaponize. My simple observation is that given the abomination in the White House, Mueller should have done more to convert Trump’s criminality to the American people.

    3. @terry vick **Thank you for your service Sir!** My apology for Not wording my thoughts correctly, pls forgive. *I am Not saying the military should intervene with civilian affairs.* I am speaking of law enforcement, civilian officials & civilians! We the People, stateside, have a duty to defend & protect our Constitution and our Republic from all enemies, foreign and domestic also. Yes, we have “elections” to make smooth changes in our gov’t. We also have “impeachment” when we need to make immediate changes between “elections.” **What I am saying to General Mattis, anyone else and all others who are in the know/have facts & information that We the People need to make well informed choices, tell us before the “election!!”**

    4. @Andrew Brent OK,…I can certainly feel the strong concern for our cherished democracy and its current status in your words and i want to thank you for being civil in this discourse. I think your still over reaching in your description of what the SecDef is and what that post, despite being a Cabinet level one,.is not,.but thats not uncommon. Obama fired SedDef Chuck Hagel back in 2014, and thats pretty much what happens when such a Cabinet Level individual gets “too mouthy ” and “speaks out against the Boss”,.while on the job. Soo,..instead of being fired, Mattis quit. And since he did indeed write a book,.then Congress has it within its power to call him as a witness in case the 25th Amendment is pursued. If for no other reason then to infact , explain exactly what he saw. I too wish more would be done concerning the status of our Democracy,.however,..Mattis was ONLY SecDef under 1 POTUS so despite not calling him out by name,..WTF else could he be describing ? Which, is why i mentioned a military coup,..because other then armed insurrection, the SecDef’s only reprisal is to indeed,..quit his job. The Secretary of Defense administers over the DoD,..and advised the POTUS concerning issues directly affecting such administration,..no more,..no less. I know it seems like im some loyal old Vet giving him a pass while Trump acts more and more like a damn dictator each day,..but its really the job of the average American to insure that a reality TV show star, whom claims to be a Billionaire NEVER ascends to the White House in the 1st place.

    1. Mattis isn’t even a good man. He worked for the Trump regime even after experiencing Trump’s corruption and xenophobia. He only decided to resign when Trump decided to pull back troops from Syria (which was actually the right thing to do).

    1. Then why follow the Democratic Party when the 2016 primary was rigged, after Sanders won the initial roll call, at the convention?

  4. He basically said if the president is wrong say nothing or do nothing… that is why I didn’t go to the military…

  5. I respect Mattis’ Military service immensely. His military jacket is fantastic.
But dont criticize Obama the way you did and then hide behind the upholding the constitution when it comes to Trump. Careful, I might think you are at least, bigoted.

    1. Legacy of Free domain Because he’s brainwashed and ready to praise the Russian flag because it stands more for white nationalism than the American flag now does.

  6. I respect General Mattis but this will stain his entire legacy. He will go down in history as the Mad Dog that was tamed by a guy with too much orange make up on his face.

  7. Their answer are always the same but said differently!

No one have no interest to bring democracy back!
Simply because this don’t exist no more!
With Epstein Rulling class swimming in their own swamp!
    Politics and pedo!!!

  8. It’s not “tribalism”, it’s right wing tribalism. The right are the enemy of freedom, peace, and sanity. They are the fuckwits of the world, hiding behind the flag of fascism.
