If you love Amazon, wait until the only mall in town is owned by Amazon & they control the price of 90% of all goods and labor wages.
Well said. Never used them (Amazon) love my local small business folk a little bit more expensive but way better experience and can get a better deal most times with a bit of good old fashioned haggling.
What are the wages your local mall is paying employees currently?
@Brennan Stehling You are making the mistake of believing Amazon will both continue to pay competitive wages and offer good value on their items when there is no longer any significant competition. They won’t they will pay as little as possible & jack their prices.
They’re running the stores out of business and then buying the building and turning it into a warehouse. It’s nuts. Corporate money in politics has got to be the reason antitrust isn’t being used.

When they raised the wage they also took away several benefits.
How long until those warehouse jobs are automated?
Much of the work is automated already. And it is not unique to these warehouses. It is being done everywhere.

Amazon doesn’t incentivize its workers, it pressures them through intimidation to produce numbers. There are no bonuses for exceeding or meeting quotas. If you move up you will work up to 12 hours a day.
That room for growth was a flat out lie. I now assume I didn’t see it on MSNBC but they reported the other day that if you’re hired at $15, 20yrs later you’re maxed out at ~$18hr

Amazon should be broken up.
Every single one of those “human” warehouse jobs will be automated within 5 years. Bank on it.
And the automation will produce almost that same number of jobs at 5X the pay but will require a better skillset.
I remember hearing the same type of comments 5 years ago. I’m sure it’ll happen but I think the time frame isn’t quite as fast paced as most people think.
Everything said in this piece, proves Amazon should be Unionized.
Cut down the shipping time. Everyone’s instant gratification is causing this. If they want instant gratification go buy local.

If you just want to ‘work FOR union’, you can do that now .. without waiting for Amazon to be unionized. You seems to have missed the point of ‘union’ … for the workers.
$15 an hour and they work you to death you get two 15-minute breaks or half an hour but it takes 10 minutes to go to the break room from some of these work areas and you got a 10-minute walk back that’s 20 minutes right there they don’t want you taking bathroom breaks when you’re working I know people who work at Amazon and they’re hoping Alabama goes Union
don’t worry, new immigrants will be doing those jobs so your ‘friends’ do not have to.

People in warehouse being watched: I would NEVER leave!
People at home: Its hard and we are taken advantage of.
They aren’t going to say something negative on camera while they are working there.
The issue is NOT same day delivery. The issue is Amazon refuses to hire extra drivers and give reasonable goals which they can EASILY afford and still have huge profits.
Remember that the ‘profit’ Amazon accumulates are from ‘us’, the customers. Thus, at the end, WE are the problem.
Yeah, these places get the tax that the workers pay, but sweet fa from Amazon.
Boykott Amazon. As long as it’s not regulated by govs+they re not paying taxes+their employees, don’t order from amazon🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I know how good unions are I was in the union for 27 years
I hope Amazon’s warehouse workers realize that Amazon is committed to automating
as much of their work as possible, and their futures aren’t secure. Just as Amazon is
committed to self-driving delivery vehicles. At least with unions, they can negotiate
the transition to more automation to better protect their members.
