As Trump Ignored Warnings, Some Americans Anticipated Pandemic For Years | The Beat With Ari Melber 1

The coronavirus pandemic caught many by surprise, and Pres. Trump famously disregarded expert warnings well after it spread across the U.S. Some Americans had spent years preparing for disasters and a potential pandemic, an approach that may look more necessary given recent deadly storms, wildfires and the coronavirus. While some “preppers” can be treated as alarmist, the number of Americans spending on disaster preparation has doubled, and some tactics for preparing at an individual level are prudent, as MSNBC’s Ari Melber explores in this special report. (This interview is from MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber, a news show covering politics, law and culture airing nightly at 6pm ET on MSNBC. ). Aired on 02/24/2021.

*if he would of been had he got re-elected… it would of been years!!!…he’s a Murder!!!…and I hope he gets his one day*

  2. They’re prepping for a CIVIL WAR

  3. I want an invisible treehouse.

  4. Yeah I don’t think security was the issue in Texas, where everyone is born with a loaded gun. Lol

  5. This is a conversation you would only have in America. What does that tell you..

    • Yup, can’t imagine becoming much of a talking point here in the UK. As I understand it there are a relatively small number of these ‘Preppers’ in Europe, though I doubt any of them are preparing to bump off their neighbours at the first opportunity, which seems to be a bit of a thing with a lot of Americans.

  6. The doomsday preppers are going into the extremes with their theatrics.

  7. There is now a bullet train in Morocco that goes from Tangier to Casablanca (over 200 miles) in an hour. The fast train to New York goes 80 mph. I want you to let that sink in. America is not number one in almost anything except for our unparalleled achievement of being able to end human live anywhere on the planet at our whim.

When SHTF, I got me a few cases of whiskey, and a lotta cigars, y’all. This can be used or TRADED.

  9. There is a difference prepping for an emergency and prepping for WWIII

  10. kitsch. 15 years ago, our mayor said on the radio to be prepared for at least a week n case of disaster. He flat out said there will be no help.

And yet they didn’t prepare for TRUMP

  12. People like Trump should’ve listen to the science.

  13. Never believe anything from donald dump or his family

  14. They absolutely have a point, but some of the motivations are silly, but being prepared isn’t.

  15. This guy clearly listens to a lot of music, because he quotes them a lot. The song he quoted this time must be before my time, because I have never heard of that song. In earthquake country, we prepare for that. In hurricane country, we prepare for that. The Deep South does not normally get snow, so how could people prepare for frozen and busted pipes? How could we prepare if our incomes and welfare benefits leave us no savings in order to prepare? Poverty exists by majority design and it is disproportonately designed by race. The poorest of the poor Americans need every penny and then some to survive. The poorest of the poor have no savings to buy all the things that woman has. Telling poor people to prepare with zero savings while being homeless is insulting. Basically, the power elites are telling us to do somehting they know we cannot do and then, they wag their fingers and poor people, blaming powerless people for not preparing for the emergency they created through prejudice, mismanagement, apathy, and incompetance, because they designed our life chances to be shortened and limited by social forces we cannot control.

Mormons are the original preppers, they always have a year worth of food in storage. If you ever want to learn how to can your garden harvest, they are good people to ask.

  17. The best way to prepare for a disaster is to prepare with your neighbors. The more that can work together, the more that will survive.

  18. The problem is those prepper types look a lot like the people who stormed the Hill. A self-fulfilling movement. They’re so convinced somebody was coming for them they thought they would strike first.

  19. There are many people who cannot afford to “prep”.

  20. Having a stocked pantry , a cold cellar with canned food and root vegetables etc used to be “normal” .
