What’s the difference between confronting the problems of a loved family member or valued, close friend who has a problem with drinking, or gambling, or drugs, or abusive manipulative behavior, and speaking out about problems our nation has, if your concern and caring is rooted in a love for the nation and its wonderful, diverse population? I think that idea, that general concept, was at the crux of the thought process when the founders crafted the First Amendment.
