“Baghdad Don’: Trump Blasted For Most Inept Response To ‘Any Crisis In History’ | MSNBC

Veteran strategist and former Republican Steve Schmidt argues President Trump has exhibited the most inept response of any president to any crisis in history. Schmidt tells MSNBC’s Ari Melber that many avoidable problems in the US response to the coronavirus pandemic revealed Trump’s failures as a president, and historians will look back on this as a time when a reality show star “New York con man” narrowly ended up as President and was simply not prepared. Aired on 4/16/2020.

  1. Steve is one of the most articulate and educated people in the media today. I love it when the hosts have him on.

  2. WOW! Steve Schmidt sure knows how to lay it down! A complete and accurate presentation of Donald Trump in 10 minutes!!

    1. Yeah, he really brings out the bitter jealously he harbors for Trump, lets loose and really “gives” it to him.

  3. Thank God, I’m glad someone can finally see and speak the truth so well. Thank you. Listen up America. Open your eyes and ears to the truth.

  4. Republicans who still believe in democracy, love our country and care about American lives should step up and do what is right. Remove trump period

    1. jeff ah yek
The country could face another crisis within the next four years.
Do we trust Trump to competently respond to the next major crisis, when he had been warned about the possibility of the current one almost four years ago?

Trump squandered precious time lying to us while the virus spread, and he did nothing to get ahead of it.
Never, ever trust a pathological liar who has already shown you that he will put personal political gain ahead of your life.

    2. @James G. Vickers But they are stuffing up the country, so they are creating a stuffed life FOR THEMSELVES as well as the nontrumpers. Why can’t they see this?
The rest of the world can see. What is their problem??????

  5. As a Canadian I am so sorry for the American people who have been duped by the worst inept president in history.

    1. @Catherine Schmidt Agreed, there were so many odd components that all had to come together to let Trump slip through the Electoral College cracks. The biggest of all IMO was the combination of Trump pretending there were 30,000 Hillary emails hiding somewhere that revealed insidious intent (they never found them, how did he know it was “30,000”, early on he was saying “35,000”)…and then at the very last minute Jim Comey (temporarily out of his mind!) made it sound like they had finally found those emails and in restarting the investigation created the illusion that Hillary was on the brink of indictment!! So yeah, now let’s all vote. Is it any wonder 75,000 people decided to change their vote or stay home.

    2. @John Cahill What a crock of Liberal turd brained , hyperbole. God son , you have to have at least a modicum of intellect somewhere. Why did Hillary resort to the bleach bit app to erase her emails when she found out she was being subpoenaed? What do you think , if in fact you’re capable , of Judicial Watches , FOIA lawsuit subpoenaing Google for said deleted emails that apparently were sent to a Gmail account prior to being deleted? The fecal matter is about to make contact with the rotary oscillator….

    3. @Catherine Schmidt oh, thank you. I know its none of our business, but a majority of us live within 150 miles of the border. I can swim to America never mind “see it from my porch.” My son went to university in Michigan and so many families took him under their wing which I so appreciated. Have travelled and had great relationships with other families in your country and met canadians I’d like to strip of their citizenship and drop in the middle of the Pacific. WE all have them. We are worried about the level of disrespect, bullying and escalation to violence that seems to be happening right now. We all want the same things. Roof over our kids heads, food on the table, clothes on their back, a healthy life and good education. Pretty basic and doable by any party. But this about power and it seems that the last few decades have worn down the majority of the people and we can only watch from the outside. So hope that when this is over the American grit and determination can stand up to the bullies and say No More.
Hope this hasn’t offended you any way. Was only offered in friendship

    4. eye onit No it doesn’t offend me. Actually the obvious horror by our allies and neighbors has been a reminder of what we were and hopefully will be again. I have said it before this is a reckoning for this nation. The underbelly of this nation is pretty ugly and is being revealed. It is very painful and discouraging but the scab has to be torn off to allow healing. I have been very depressed lately especially with the whole sale attack by Barr on our judiciary, the blatant disregard for the lives of ordinary people, the corruption and especially the cruelty towards others just seeking refuge. At times I am not sure we will survive. I think the majority of people understand but the wholesale destruction of rule of law , a politicized SCOTUS and voting rights makes it very very scary. Thank you for your comment and take care of yourself and those close to you. Be safe.

  6. Regardless of your party, why would you want someone this incompetent as a leader? Vote in November.

    1. James, I’ll take, dementia over stupidity incompetence, insanity, greed and bigotry. Trump’s incompetence and stupidity turned a crisis into a catastrophe.

    2. @kevin cronan I have been following this since before you were born. I used to live on the democratic plantation and about 43 years ago I took off the “Blinders” . I will say its really good to have you engaging in thought. Please take the time to do your own research and I am sure your blinders will fall away over time.

  7. We all know the Trump administration has not been hiring “The Best People” He’s been hiring his friends and his pawns. He’s been cornering government and overthrowing the system!

    1. Lakario Davis He’s insulated himself with his own choir, allowing him to remain stuck in his own ignorance and blinding him to the real issues that we’re struggling with across America. He has rendered himself impotent.

    2. Lakario, The corona $2.2-Trillion ‘bailout’ is in truth a disguised giveaway for the big banks & corporate elite (in this report): @8:13, “So, it shows quite clearly that the central bank is not operating on any level of adequacy, on any sense of what it was chartered to do. It’s now been co-opted entirely by the kleptocrats who are simply using it to steal assets by printing money, and buying those assets with the free money they get, and they have no interest attached to that money, disenfranchising and creating a new surf class in America…”__ The interview with PhD economist Michael Hudson @12:16 brings it all into sharp focus…. As everyone is so impressed with their $1,200 checks, but the truth is for every $1 that the working class gets, the big banks & cooperate elite (Kleptocrats) get $1,000. We are clearly getting RIPPED OFF. __Question: *WHY did Trump simply sign this corporate giveaway into law (even publicly embraced it & talked it up), rather than demand Congress & Senate author a direct plan for rescue rather than a disguised scheme to rip off of the American tax payer??* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2bgf93c1rg

Cut & paste my post, spread the word!

    3. Funny , I was never notified ….Seems he will be reelected again though , so not all are we , we don’t know or agree…..

  8. Starting at 7:00 sums this all up. We will look back and shake our heads. He’s a reality tv wannabe con man, always has been, always will be. He lost the popular vote. Electoral vote needs to go.

    1. This guy is the best speaker on Trump. I love how he has laid it all out.

VOTE TRUMP OUT IN NOVEMBER 💪 VOTE TRUMP OUT IN NOVEMBER 💪 VOTE TRUMP OUT IN NOVEMBER 💪 VOTE.

  9. Everybody in the world should pay attention to Steve Schmidt’s words. This should be replayed on every news station and printed in every newspaper in the country until the election.

    1. @Liberty Steel 🤦👏👏👏👏 you’re good, you never fail to make an embarrassing spectacle of yourself.
Best of luck to you and yours.

  10. Trump is going to be remembered for how he has handled this pandemic. He is NOT going to like how he is remembered!!!

    1. He’ll be remembered as one of the best presidents in US history.

Trump acted in January.. You know when Biden and Pelosi were calling him racist for banning travel into the country? By March we still only had 102 deaths.

So you morons are actually suggesting that the country would’ve accepted a lockdown in February when only 60 total people died of it?

    2. I don’t think he gives a F#@k. His only point was to show everyone he could when the presidency and to be boss of essentially everything and that he can do what he wants. I just don’t understand why folks in power let him do whatever and say whatever he wants 🤦

    3. Trump will be an example to presidential candidates of what not to do. Laws will change to ensure presidential candidates are mentally sound of mind. If they are found to be mentally unfit to lead the nation, they will be forced to resign. He will be a reminder to the electoral college and voters how making our votes count is so important because it could be a matter of life and death.

    1. @Lani Anne I’ve presented 63 Liberals with the same bet , and not one has taken me up on it yet. Does that tell you something? A fools paradise must be a great place to reside. No right , no wrong , no accountability , no sense…..Congratulations 64!

    2. IVANKA WILL be first female President and you know it,the Trumps have done a very good job ,get over killery and those communist.

    1. I agree totally. Was thinking the same thing.
I hope Joe Biden is listening to Steve Schmidt and is taking lessons.
When Steve speaks, I hang on to every word.
He’s a passionate and mesmerizing speaker.
“The Baghdad Bob Show” it is.

    2. Schmidt was actually advising Howard Schultz while he was considering running for president last year. Currently, Schmidt is among a group of Republicans that is behind the Lincoln Project, which is a super PAC that is running some pretty powerful ads against Trump. In short, he’s not just talking the talk here, as he’s been quite active during this campaign on various fronts.

    1. Once Trump is out of office, New York’s Southern Judicial District will be having legal conversation with him.

    2. “and I want your total adoration for all my unequalled accomplishments to be expressed by the first words out of your mouth….. whenever you are given permission to speak.

Now, sit down and be quiet.”

    3. Mark, yeah, Trump is the KING of “Have your cake & eat it too”, especially since he literally declared himself “War President” in the fight against the corona.

    4. @SK Oh for sure. He has to turn over his taxes now. He loss his appeal claiming “executive privilege” as the reason not to turn over his tax records to NY attorney general. The court ruled executive privilege does not protect a sitting president from criminal investigation.

  11. I love hearing from Steve Schmidt. His dead-pan, no-nonsense commentary is refreshing and hopeful. And I’ve notice that Trump doesn’t dare attack him for bringing truth to light. Trump is not worthy to be this man crap paper!

    1. Lol facts. America was in an economical boom state where excellent. Now the far left Monday morning virus quarterbacks come out of the pea nut gallery

    2. @William Sheppard the GDP was 2.3 at it’s peak during trumps reign.. You call that a boom? The stock market was 15% overvalued, and that came to light during the covid19 correction. Unemployment claims were reduced, only because a majority of those who were unemployed ran out of claims, thus are not counted. American’s manufacturing and energy sectors are in the toilet (show me an american F500 manufacture that operates out of USA), The banking sector is up to its old tricks of over leveraging debt, the national debt is at 31 trillion (increase of 9 trillion since trump took office). These are the FACTS, son. Fools like you think the economy’s booming, but don’t have any metrics to show why.

    3. @M Hartung please don’t inject or drink any disinfectant. Just a suggestion. I realise Trump has a very big brain but on this Im sure he’s wrong. I could be wrong. If you do try it let us all know how it goes. If you can. Good luck.

    1. Should be put in jail.. for Bush McCain Clinton PNAC military dropped this mess. Delno and Bush FDR did the drug black market wars..

    2. This is what Trump And the Ameican people Need to hear Straight up in November on National TV. Just tell it like it is!

    3. Robert Millar and yes there are still some actual Republicans left with tell it like it is attitude, as the Lincoln Project ans their honest ads, got to love them!!!!

  12. I love how Steve Schmidt holds Trump so brutally accountable. Especially during this time of crisis.

  13. I’d like to quote a famous Monopoly card: “Go to jail, go directly to jail.” TRUMP FOR PRISON 2020
