To use his words, Trump “is what he is”, voters either see him as a buffoonish wannabee dictator, or the savior of the country. Whatever people think of Trump, their perception will not change so there is no point trying to prove that Trump is terrible, no minds will be changed one way or the other. Dem’s need to focus on the people and and the issues, present concrete plans on what needs to change and how.
Actually Democrats are focusing on the people, Republican Mitch is blocking most of the proposals. Politics is crazy but Politics in America is crazier because money is the vehicle that changes legislation. You can’t change a thing without money in Congress. Democrats know that and they try their best to bring up proposals and changes that they can win with the money and supporters available to them.

It drives me nuts that the Press & his critics in general, do not stay on point about the fact that he defunded EVERYTHING that was there to help us in this kind of regrettable situation. Starving necessary departments of much needed funding, so he could create a statistic giving the appearance of less spending is no way to run a Government. That’s magical thinking. In regards to the opioid epidemic, he has done something similar, but not quite : he turned the handling of the epidemic over to the CDC, who then shut down all the pain management doctors leaving the patients with no options. Then, they arranged for Medicaid to pay for free methadone for addicts…but, only if they are black. That’s crazy. He was trying to create a statistic of getting black addicts into rehabilitation treatment, but instead he has created a much worse addiction problem in a community that rarely used methadone. What this has done has created a black market for the drug, one that never existed before, and major scamming built around the medical ride services that Medicaid offers. But, worst of all is the racial tension at the actual clinics. Providing a free service to one race while charging the other $400 + per month is a recipe for danger & violence. Not that Trump cares about what happens to any of those people. I drove my neighbor there for 2+ months at the start of the pandemic, and while waiting outside it was obviously an open air drug market, and extremely tense with anger & violence which is why I told her I didn’t want to drive her there any more. It was legit terrifying. Thanks Trump.

If you pay attention, Biden is not what we want. But we learned our lesson about the lesser of two evils…
I wanted Bernie in 2016. When he didn’t win the nomination, I voted for Hillary because I felt she would’ve been a capable administrator–especially given that the other choice was Trump.
This time around, though, I voted for Biden. Not because my politics sudden turned centrist, but because I believed that he could not only unite Democrats, but also was an attractive enough candidate for disaffected right of center Independents and Republicans looking for an alternative to Trump.
So far I’ve been happy with my decision. Biden has proposed some very solid policies on climate, the economy, and healthcare, and apparently he’s putting together an administration that will be ready to start governing the moment he’s sworn in–something we’ve lacked for almost four years. I miss having a president.

Even if Biden sounds like something we don’t want, Democrats in the senate and congress are nothing like republicans. Historically they have stood up and voiced their criticism for failed policies. Nothing like this fear that republicans have shown for 4 years.
