Biden calls out GOP governors: Help or get out of the way

President Joe Biden ratcheted up pressure on some Republican governors to do more for their constituents as the highly contagious Delta variant rips across their states.
The remarks came as Biden said in a speech on that the US has shared more than 100 million vaccine doses globally, and announced a number of new steps taken since last week to try to get more Americans vaccinated and slow the spread of coronavirus. The new efforts included requiring that all federal employees must attest to being vaccinated against Covid-19 or face strict protocols and encouraging states to provide cash incentives to people to get vaccinated.
Even with those measures, Biden lamented the current state of Covid-19 in the US, saying the Delta variant is "moving like wildfire through the unvaccinated communities and it's heartbreaking particularly because it's preventable." The President squarely blamed policy decisions made in states that have bans on mask mandates, specifically pointing to Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis — who represent the two states which now make up about a third of the nation's new Covid-19 cases.
Biden cited Texas' rule, saying "state universities or community colleges could be fined if it allows a teacher to ask her unvaccinated students to wear a mask."
"What are we doing?" the President asked.
"Florida and Texas account for one third of all new Covid-19 cases in the entire country. Just two states. Look, we need leadership from everyone. If some governors aren't willing to do the right thing to beat this pandemic, they should allow businesses and universities who want to do the right thing to be able to do it," he continued.

    1. @Buckler Yeah, it’ll help just a little bit. Not solve the entire crisis. We need real solutions, not solutions that make you feel good about being white.

  1. Governors are using it to politicise there positions in power..Republicans are the worst of them..

  2. I live in Arkansas and have been looking at our Department of Health Covid dashboard. What Arkansas is telling us things are fine and getting better. Things aren’t getting better. I wonder if they’ve been fudging the numbers.

  3. “Help or get out of the way.”
Well, they might as well start stepping to the side right now, because the GOP has not been helpful at basically anything.

  4. Biden isn’t going to put up with these obstructionists like Obama did. Biden isn’t trying to be liked by the right.

  5. Trump: “I want to see Biden in prison.”

Biden: “What on Earth gives Trump the idea that I’ll come visit him in prison?”

  6. Lmao China Joe the Commander in Cheat with dementia wants unity, so pathetic. Can’t wait for the midterms.

  7. So much for being pro-life huh DeSantis

That’s how conservatism works huh? We only pretend they care about people when it’s convenient but when it’s inconvenient their lives don’t really matter right?

Conservatism makes so much sense to me now

  8. Sir, I’ve been saying that from the beginning.

Vote, America. Vote. We cannot move forward until we move the GOP out of our way.

  9. Yet the administration is funneling 70% of the undocumented, unvaccinated illegal immigrants to Florida and Texas. Appears to be a chess play by the administration to me.

  10. 0:47 Dear God, HALF of last week’s new cases from just five states, all bar one in the south. This data must be brought up at every future election. Register, and vote as if your life depends on it.
