  1. It was literally Greg Abbott then as the Texas AG who sued the EPA to avoid winterizing the Texas power grid in 2011. His tweet said, Today I sued the EPA for messing with Texas jobs and power grid.

    1. I’m as left-leaning as they come, but the 2011 suit was not about winterizing the power grid. Rather, it was about emissions and compliance with the Clean Air Act. I’m pasting a link to the DC Circuit Court of Appeal’s ruling on this case, and related cases. While I don’t doubt Abbott tweated what you claim, I do think we should strive for accuracy (both on the left and the right). I searched the text of this ruling for “winter” and “weather” and came up with nothing. If someone else finds a specific reference to a suit involving winterizing the grid, I’m all ears.

    2. @Chadillac actually I do believe in Santa clause
Saint Nicholas born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey.
And Easter bunnies are delicious both the chocolate kind and the ones my Uncle Hunt.
      Next question ?

  2. Fossil fuels did not fail nor windmills, deregulation did. No regulations to winterize power producing plants and avoid freezing, and no back up grid to tap into.

    1. A windmill generates mechanical energy from wind power, while a wind turbine generates electricity from wind power.

    2. @murray jeffery Windmill is the structure. The stones were the milling part, some concepts stick beyond their original purpose.

  3. The Republicans need to go to the corner of the room close there eyes and pretend no one can see them, that’s what there best at. DO NOTHINGS.

    1. @Matthew May There’s room here, though. One of the problems is blue states keep people stuck in their swamps with handouts. You come here, you work hard, & within 2-3 years you’ll still be able to buy your own land & start doing your own thing on it. Democrats keep people stuck in thinking there isn’t anything better out there than their freebies. Truly sad. 😆

    2. @Matthew May you mean like the Dems did all summer with the riots? Oops I mean “peaceful protests” that caused millions of dollars in damage, yet the Dems led by Harris bailed them out to continue the “peaceful protests” Hmmm double standard don’t you think?

    3. @M B exactly! carry a few cue cards around with you in case you have to answer any questions. Just blend in with the ZOMBIES. and when they aren’t looking carry out your legit business.

  4. How do you argue with people that blame things that don’t exist.
They get so mad when we call them idiots 😮

    1. CNN MSNBC etc.. journalistic bias When they lie but at least they stay on point and report what it is.. every damn time I see Fox News they go 10 steps further by outright lying and being off topic.. is there no standard for this kinda crap?

    2. @Neil Anblomi
anti-Christ right wingers calling themselves “Christian” started that “identity” crap.
they “identify as” Christians, but they are selfish money worshipers. (anti-Christ)

    3. @Neil Anblomi If (straw man) then why isn’t (red herring)?

Could it be that (non sequitur)?

I bet that’s basically every argument you’ve ever made, bruv.

    1. @Debbie Sims – Wind Turbines are not built specifically for one state for country. They are all built to a specific specification and it’s the responsibility that who ever buys and installs them maintain them according to the weather. Texas is responsible not the energy company.

    1. Windmills kills hundreds of thousands of birds every year…i thought you libbies want to stop killing animals or birds….😁

    2. @Jakub Lizon No, in fact I looked it up. There is a small science station using much smaller wind turbines designed for the extremes. Not the massive turbines frozen by a storm that has never happened in 115years. Conversely if Texas had never bothered to try Wind Power the fall out from the storm wouldn’t have been as bad.

    1. shah. do you know how many states were efected? and the wind towers failed first and were taken out of service.

    2. @R G how did the Vietnam and Korea war go? Not good.
How is the Afghanistan war going? Very shitty.
Wanna screw with China🇨🇳? China has enough nukes for the biggest july 4 mushroom fireworks.

    1. @TexanforTruth TossTrump
You 100% MUST REGULATE corporations!!! They could care less about people or ‘suggestions’

    2. @Just Me
even your non sequitur is boring.
      Imagine my ennui.

If your going to make up fairy tales at least try to make them interesting.

    3. “kaiss-K -Ci” 👈 He is a pathological liar who I have seen in many other threads and comment sections. Sometimes he claims to be from Texas when it serves his agenda, sometimes he claims to be a Kurd when it serves his agenda, and sometimes he claims to be from Israel when it serves his agenda. And today he is a colored immigrant who lived on different continents. Just ignore him.

  5. Don Quixote would be happy to be a republican, with those pesky “windmills” freezing up. But just like pipes if you don’t winterize them i.e make them fit for cold weather, then they won’t work. Wind turbines seem to work well in countries that get this kind of weather regular.

    1. They do not have Republicans in charge of maintaining their power grid. The Texas Republicans chose not to invest in modernizing their power grid at the expense of the people who froze to death.

    2. @Stephen Foster my grandson in san antonio and his family are in a shelter, my daughter and her husband close to dallas had a pipe burst in the bathroom wall and their water has been off for a week.

    3. @tata eight I am sorry 😞 are they pretty much snowed in where they are today? I have been away from the news mostly. From what I have been hearing Dallas areas really have it bad. My sister is in San Antonio and they have electricity but no water and away from their home so no idea yet on the damage in their house. I hope your people are getting or will get the care they need. There is alot of good hearted citizens trying to do what they can to help in alot of places.

    4. @tata eight Happy to hear it. Heard of another family who were using some form of gas heater that produced enough carbon monoxide that three of the family died today =(

  6. We already know why. Those on the right will use any and every opportunity to down clean energy. Clean energy means less money for the rich oil and gas boys in the south and their investors.

    1. @dave marty what president cut 10% of the budget from NASA? obama. what did NASA prove? that the ice caps on MARS are melting at the same rate as on earth. we just had the coldest temps in 100 years over 75 % of the USA.

    2. @whiteindianone thats cute… doesn’t change the fact that NASA and IPCC in the UN and climate scientists believes in Global warming, Obama also believes in masks wearing and so does doctors and nurses,. adorable try tho👍

    3. “Oil and Gas” gives far too much money to Republicans for them to do anything but ignore, cover up, deflect, blame and then outright lie.
Green Energy doesn’t contibute near the same amount of money, especially to Republicans so they are cannon fodder.
TED”Cancun”CRUZ is the #1 recipient of contributions from LNG and some recent Legislation Trump rushed through in the finals days shows easily why he would pull the “stunt”.
      2 Fine examples:

1.)Loosening Safety Standards for Gas Pipeline Construction and Maintenance

In response to several petitions from gas companies for revisions to gas pipeline regulations, the Department of Transportation loosened requirements on inspections, accident reporting and the qualifications of certain workers.

2.) Stripping Down Environmental Reviews for LNG Exports

This rule makes it easier for companies that want to export liquefied natural gas to gain approval from the Energy Department. When the department reviews these export applications for their environmental impact, it will only consider emissions from transporting the gas on ships, which it considers insignificant, and ignore emissions from pumping the gas out of the ground or burning the gas wherever it ends up being used.

    4. @TexanforTruth TossTrump tell me about the 30 tons of steel it takes to make one tower or the 2 tons of copper wire for the generator. and what impact on the land for this type of real resourse.. transporting by ships? where did you get this. not true at all.

    5. @TexanforTruth TossTrump tell me and the others about the 30 tons of steel it takes to make just one wind tower, or the 2 tons of copper for the generator.

    1. @Ellie James And good old gas prices are going up can’t be Republicans fault try blaming that on your good old cornpop Joe Biden

    2. @Brian Schettler thats not even how gas prices work, genius…the recent spike is due to Texas being frozen over…which is the GOPs fault lol

  7. Fact check on Carol Leonnig: the United upgrade list is publicly available for every United flight via the flight status available on United.com or the United mobile app. The available information consists of the first 3 letters of your last name and the First letter of your first name. CRU. R (The abbreviation for Raphael Cruz) isn’t a tough code to crack when you know who you’re looking for on a given flight.

    1. oh no we can’t have that narrative messed with. they have people charged with releasing info that pro ed Trump was lieing but Trump walks around a free man, grifting people, inciting riots and not paying his taxes.

  8. Sorry for the people in texas, hope they can recover from this ok. On a cynical note, if you still believe windmills and green new deal caused this problem and you’re still listening to fox, you get what you paid for or in this case, voted for.

    1. @Sarah Shah Great question, Ill get back to you on that . Meanwhile google Candace Owens and please tell me what you finf wrong with what she stands for.

    2. @DFR666 How many jobs did Trump bring BACK to USA in 1,460 days And how many did Biden Kill in 38 days ? Get back to me

    3. @Corey Ham True, if it was a “hoax” as right wing liars keep pretending, then why did Republican Senators put it in their reports, and even send criminal referrals about the Trumps to the DOJ? This wasn’t made up by the media, it came from Trump’s own party, and media reports about it were accurate. A new AG, one who actually works for the American people, should review the highly suspicious Russian connections, because they have not yet been properly assessed, and should also prosecute the obstruction crimes detailed in the Mueller report.

    4. @mustafa1name Good points. I completely agree. Let’s hope Merrick Garland gets confirmed. I just saw a preview of his opening senate confirmation remarks which was excellent. But he will get push back from probably lots of republican senators.

    1. It was a rare hundred year event, they got caught with their pants down..live and learn…but exploit this thing for political purposes? That’s the only thing normal about it…..

    2. @Altrusian WolfDog There was a similar issue in 2011 that led to the recommendation that they winterize the equipment. It was only a recommendation, not a requirement. This was the result.

    3. The voting machines had no modems but people believed they changed the votes in favour of the Democrats on the spot.

  9. Norway, Sweden, and all the Scandinavian countries have thousands of wind turbines and are building more and it’s much colder there than in Texas. Plus the space station has a ton of solar panels and it is over -400 degrees in space

    1. @JD S me living in ny is doubtful, you dont even understand the fucking climate in the north east. You said has reached 110 in the last 10 years. You thought real feel on your mobile phone meant actual temperature lol. You cant disprove anything I said. South texas deals with extreme heat for months guy. It’s hotter the closer to the equator you get, you shouldve learned this in school.
Im from the 914,845 now in 518. I’m also 40 years old and seen the weather in the north east my entire time. I’m close to mountain now that has had wind chills of -45 I believe. I believe the recent heat wave with a real feel above 105 was maybe…7 years ago that lasted 5 days I’m guessing.
I’m also aware of NY power grid that failed when a little relay station in orange county had a problem and it blacked out the lower part of NY and upper NJ. But nobody made a huge mess over that issue in a democratic state.

    2. @hoaxone 845 . no. Your literacy level is like English is your second language.
You also don’t even realize how many times you’ve backtracked and changed your “facts.” At times really showing you’re not absorbing or understanding anything.
You’ve clearly demonstrated that you don’t understand how any of the science, mechanics or engineering of any of this works.
You’re obviously getting angrier and angrier because you have no clue what you’re talking about.
I would suggest you just pack it in for the night. All you’re doing is providing other people humor, at this point.
You still cannot grasp the simple fact that Texas didn’t winterize their energy equipment because they were too cheap. They got away with doing that because they are their own energy grid and refuse to join any other part of America’s energy infrastructure. Solely so they can avoid Federal Regulations. Again… Texas is 100% to blame for this. Not the wind turbines. Not the New Green Deal. Texas Republicans.

    3. @hoaxone 845 Machines can easily have a much wider range of operating temperatures than people and animals do.

Automobile dashboard electronics, for example, can pretty easily experience temperatures between -40 to +180. People expect them to just work. Or when Intel and AMD design a chip they know that someone will try to run it everywhere from -200 (idling under liquid nitrogen) to +200 (overclocked to its thermal limit).

      And yes, they deliver.

Your analogy is pretty bad. The problems were related to condensation or frost – natural gas flow blocked by ice, switchgear that could fail-dangerous or arc explosively. Water liquid or vapor could get in but there were no plans or equipment for heating. The engineers knew it would fail at freezing, they warned the decision-makers, and they were deliberately ignored.

Furthermore, the lack of winterized utility equipment conspired with the isolation of the Texas Interconnection to turn the emergency into a catastrophy. New Mexico and Oklahoma were able to import power from states that are better prepared. Rolling blackouts were much shorter and less common – just a nuisance, not the kind of thing that calls in FEMA and the Guard.

Rare weather plus lack of sufficient preparation equals disaster. Texas didn’t have to complete the equation.

    1. @Tyson w he doesn’t like virgins… if they aren’t good enough for their own family, they’re not good enough for his.

    1. You are talking about TX Republicans in government and their so called “conservative” supporters who have backed the idiotic Republicans in office like “Lying Ted and our governor Abbot, who has been quick to blame everyone and anyone connected to TX energy and water companies, yet so slow to reach out to local Democratic governments in our TX cities like Houston and Dallas who actually were helping their citizens instead of trying to fly away to Mexico because their “house was cold”.

  10. Can you imagine what would happen if the red states actually seceded? They’d be knocking on blue state’s doors, hat in hand inside of a year.

    1. @TheU2001 MIA I’m in NY. We’re doing just fine. Unlike republican-controlled Texas, this cold weather hasn’t crippled our state.

    2. @pbase36 Yes, because NY is used to getting cold weather. When was the last time TX got a winter storm like this? Also, how’s Covid and Cuomo up there?

    3. Yeah NY isn’t doing fine that’s why Cuomo is demanding 15 billion dollars from fed while red states are pretty much self sufficient and thriving due to a mass relocation of blue state businesses. When tax payers leave your states democrats it’s hard to continue a welfare state which in turn stops free money coming in which in turn stops democratic voting. What have you done for me lately.

    4. @TheU2001 MIA Texas was warned a long time ago about its grid. But wanting to be independent, the republicans refused to get on the national grid. So now, when there’s a crisis, Texans suffer. As usual, due to republicans. Our COVID numbers are dropping, if you really care.

    1. @tom sinter and when all that snow and ice starts to melt and and flooding from overflowing creeks and rivers, they will blame the DEM’S.

  11. This brings to mind Sharpiegate (that hurrican map, remember?), windmill cancer, and forest raking. What an insane ride that was. Anti-science, anti-intellectual, anti-factual, and in some ways even anti-human.

    1. You know, it’s just too bad there isn’t anything in Texas that could lubricate those windmills and keep them spinning . . .
