Professionals in America did say democratic system like HK ones (demand on direct election to chief executive) is an undisciplined, plebiscitary and is volatile enough to trigger endless overthrow of the government. This is the reason America is exporting this kind of democratic system world wide but themselves are using another indirect “democratic system” via electoral votes, plus donation from the rich to presidency candidates is legal, ensuring direct control by the shadow government behind the white house.

Who´s “we”? Anyway, the whole government system in the USA. has stopped working. It´s rigid, set in cement. No flexibility – no adaptation to changing circumstances. This all (income inequality, broken healthcare system, age-old racial tension, social neglect) came to ahead as it was festering for a long time and is exacerbated by the pandemic and of course the incompetent leadership that further fans racial divide. This could be avoided if not for the greed of the top 1% that controlled the country for decades.
