Cannizzaro On State’s New Law Sending Ballots To All Registered Voters | The Last Word | MSNBC

After record turn out during Nevada’s June election that was conducted almost entirely by mail, State Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro (D-Las Vegas) says it proves the state will be able to execute the plan once again in November. She tells Ali Velshi Republican opposition to the law isn’t about concern over security, but a strategy to suppress the overall turnout. Aired on 8/3/2020.

  1. If massive voter fraud was going on to negatively affect the GOP, they would spare no expenses to get to the bottom of it. As they should.
But here we are, they have nothing.

    1. In recent years , the instances of mail in ballot tampering were committed by, wait for it…. Republicans.

    2. Sorry, but I am getting impatient with Democrats. You try everything to suppress the Republican vote. You fight against gerrymandering, and now you want to make us mail in barcode verified ballots. Not fair.

    3. @Frank Miro just like the Dems held up the new stimulus package ….. Oh wait they had there’s in MONTHS ago it’s the republicans who can never do anything on time 😵😵😵😵

    1. There will be many movies, books and documentaries to come!
About this American tragedy we are living through.

  2. Trump is an extreme narcissistic wannabe dictator, who doesn’t believe you should have the right to vote unless you’re voting for him. And that’s not an exaggeration, he actually believes that.

    1. His fragile ego has spent decades building a wall to protect himself from being exposed as the dumbest person in the room. He knows he’s going to lose and the cracks are starting to form. And it’s glorious.

    2. Go to Vote.org and/or voteamerica.com to confirm your voting registration data and find out about mail-in voting. There’s early voting in 40 states + DC. Check out your state: https://ballotpedia.org/Early_Voting

Dems in red/swing states, switch your party affiliation to ‘R’ for the election. You can switch back later. Lowers your chance of getting purged. Here’s how to do that: https://www.usa.gov/change-voter-registration#item-214523

Voting in person and worried about being harassed? Wear a red hat. #WearRedVoteBlue

Please copy and share if possible.

  3. I’m voting by mail for Joe Biden obviously! I’ve already registered & want a return back to NORMAL after this colossal tRumpian MAGA fiasco!

    1. I want a return to Normal and this is why I am going to write Bernie Sanders in for President.

    2. @Jeannette Sikes
Well, it’s your vote to waste, I guess. That seems Kind of foolish to me though, considering that Bernie is supporting Biden now. And just to set the record straight, Bernie has never been considered to be a part of normal, at least in a political sense. Of course, he is a very good person and everyone in America having access to medical care is a wonderful idea, but sweeping changes freak people out and you are of course fighting against very powerful insurance lobbies as well. If Bernie had laid off the hardline about Medicare For All and ran on fixing the ACA and letting people keep their private insurance if they wanted, then HE would be the one beating trump right now and before you start squawking about selling out, I invite you to look at it as not selling out but getting in, as in getting in OFFICE. There is no way that anyone is going to pass MFA in one fell swoop at this point in time, too many people have heard for too long that it is socialism which they automatically assume is bad.

    3. Smart. Do not risk your life.
Your Vote by Mail will count.
We will send it in September primary vote.
We are senior citizen and my children advised us not to go polling place. Vote by Mail.
      I trust the Post process.

    4. @james smith If by normal you mean rapist= Trump and Clinton and Biden , sexual deviants both Clintons, Trumps , grifters Trumps, killers both Obamas, Clintons and Trumps, then I’m glad I am voting for someone who is not normal and that is Bernie Sanders.

  4. Born and raised in Nevada!! This is our most important vote in our lives, I’m registered and ready to vote!!

    1. I don’t even know who you are voting for but yes, get out and vote. Make your voice heard.
I support whatever legit means Americans vote, irregardless of who they vote for.
That’s the essence of democracy, which is more important than wether you vote as I would.

  5. Trump is trying to use every dirty trick in the book because he knows that he is going to lose…… By the way, she is a very pretty senator.

    1. David, I suspect that shortly after he loses the election, Trump will flee the country. Where he goes is anyone’s guess, but I believe he will run.

    2. @Roy Batty Something like that has happened here in Mexico. A governor ran away after his political party lost the election in a state, apparently he had a lot to hide. He was later found and arrested.

    3. @Roy Batty Dubai, possibly. At least at first. Most countries would extradite Trump if we demanded it… so not sure where that leaves him, really. Saudi Arabia, perhaps..?

    1. Unfortunately a lot of people are easily fooled.
      Why they all don’t have
      Darwin Awards,
      I don’t know.

    2. @Kevin Actually it is more tan a two party system it’s just tht most people (for some reason) only pay attention to the Republicans and the Democrats. those two parties don’t want the votes and the $$$ from our taxes taken away from them. My husband is a VERY jealous man so I wouldn’t call me sweetie if I were you and I would have to agree with him I’m not your sweetie I am Mrs. Sikes to you.

  6. He’s accusing democrats of using coronavirus as an excuse to use mail in voting but he uses it to delay the election! WTF!😕

    1. It’s called propaganda. Don’t worry about logical chronological thought. It’s not needed.

    2. @mark anderson And Trump had 16 chances (he was standing about 100 yards from a polling station and drove by several others another 15 times) to vote early in Florida Primary when he was golfing at his course there but choose to vote by absentee in Washington. Hypocritical.

  7. Every republican knows that if we have mail-in voting, with high turn out. We will almost always have a democratic president. With democratic congressmen and senators.

    1. not exactly. Red states would still vote Republican except in this cycle thanks to Lincoln Project. A lot of AOC/Bernie types forget that we need moderates like Biden and Pelosi to get those votes. Same people got overconfident in 2016 while not looking at the Midwest. I personally like AOC and Bernie but some states just aren’t ready for them.

    2. @Jhon Shephard it was a rigged election almost every time by republicans. They do everything they can to manipulate the polls and results within a legal sense as long as they don’t break the law. They can’t win an honest election so they cheat.

  8. Someone needs to tell t’rump that Obama created in-person voting. He’ll change his tune pretty quick! 😉 😅😂

  9. Each State’s government is responsible for their election process in their state…TRUMP HAS NO JURISDICTION!!

    1. Correct, he has no jurisdiction… which is why he has installed one of his loyal goons as the Postmaster General. They are deliberately sabotaging the U.S. Postal Service.

  10. You wouldn’t have these issues if America legislated compulsory voting by all adults (Over 18 say) and are of sound mind. Simple!

    1. We’d also never have a GOP-majority federal government again. So…Of course they don’t want that.

    2. Compulsory voting is a double edged sword.
Voter turn out would definitely be higher, of course – but you would have to fear “retaliation votes” by people who don’t want to vote, but are then forced to it.
Some of these people might vote for the worst possible candidate, just to spite your compulsory voting.
Is it sad that so many people (~50% in the US) don’t vote? Sure.
Is it even bad for democracy as a whole? Sure.
But – given everything you (hopefully) know about the average US American…would you want them forced to vote? Really?
Have you ever followed any online discussion with US Americans who do vote? And have you ever seen how they declare to vote for tRump in 2020, simply to give it to “the establishment”? Or the “elitist lefties, who didn’t want Bernie to win!!!”?
Now imagine 50% more of these childish guys…but forced to give their vote on election day. Trust me – you don’t want to see the result of that.

  11. Voter suppression is a direct attack on the U.S. Constitution, and meets the common definition of TREASON.

    1. @Mike Galbrath, (watching from Germany) Maybe a too idealistic and naive thought: Your Constitution represents a high standard, higher than every day people and every day problems…
Everybody speculates about statistic and probable outcome of your election.
Nobody mentions THE HIGH STANDARD OF: ONE PERSON ONE VOTE. Even if my party probably is in the disadvantage, when EVERYBODY votes… Someone who holds this system ‘democracy’ deerly is convinced to the core, that EVERYBODY should participate, doesn’t he?
In a way I ask about Voltaire’s quote:
“I detest what you say, but I will defend your right to say it with all the power I have.”
I don’t hear voices from the USA like this:
‘How dare you prefer someones voting voice be left out, just because you don’t like that voice? That is against the deal of the nation, called democracy!’
Your americans are so keen about freedom. How about the freedom of others?

  12. Oh how the Republicans must be hating all these new laws that guarantee a fair vote for every free American.
