    1. I live in Revelstoke. Once they’re this comfortable with human contact there’s no distance that you can move them to, they’ll always find their way back. At this point putting the animal down is for the safety of locals.

    1. did you think about the children? What about the helpless human children. Bears Suck. Are you a bear, you are outnumbered, you can’t win. Humanity First!

  1. Oh, so Green BC want to put the bear down, rather than relocate it??? Fake Environmentalists! pffff

    1. You don’t listen very well do you. Bears that become comfortable around human habitats can’t be relocated. They just wander on back to where the livin’ is easy. It can’t be tolerated b/c eventually it’ll become startled and hurt someone (or the other way around). – reading other comments I see that almost no one listens before jumping into self righteous indignation despite their own ignorance of ursine behaviour (and, apparently, human behaviour).

    2. Send it up north into a desolate remote area like all those little islands in northern canada that technically belong to Canada but no one lives on that you can see on maps so many little chunks of desolate islands there (its like fragments of land/islands look on a map) and dump it onto one of those islands. Id pay for that if there was a gofund me campaign.

And maybe we need to fund more studies the field of Conservation biologists so that they can develop a method to recondition wild animals to not be attracted to human areas/towns after exposure like this. There must be a hypothetical method that has yet to be developed that could work in reconditioning wild animals and to deter them from human populated areas, negative reinforcement strategies.
Rehibilitation for the wild perhaps some wild animal behavioural therapy.

I know those are optimals where the net social benefit includes the protection of wild life being maximized optimal. But in alternative would be since we have areas where where you can hunt for bears with permits, maybe place the bear into one of those parks I mean it either stays away from humans and lives or approaches the hunters and dies, that way we can know for sure if this bear really is/was conditioned/accustomed to humans and if it wasn’t then it will be crafty and survive and it won’t end up stuffed in some hunters cabin. Lol put like an Identifying marker on the bear so that we know if it lived or didn’t as we would be able to identify that this was that specific bear (if a hunter ended up shootin the bear he will report it to be the one that was habituated to humans). Would be a cool update 😎

  2. They shouldn’t put the bear down. It’s not hard to relocate it hundreds of miles from human populations. Or even put it in a zoo because I am sure that bear would be super friendly to humans and the staff would just love him.

  3. really ?? they’re going to put down that bear ?? why don’t they tranquilize the bear & relocate to a more remote area ??

  4. So, a bear walks into a bar…

The bartender asks, “So what are ya having their big fella?”
The bear says, “Give me a … beer.” The bartender says, “What’s with the big pause?” The bear throws his arms up in the air and says,

“I DON’T KNOW I WAS BORN WITH THEM.”

  5. They could trap him and relocate out futher in the wilderness. But probably the’conservation’ officials just want to get the old rifle and kill something.. Jerks.

    1. You understand that he’ll just come back right? You can relocate him far away but it’ll just find some other city or town.

  6. It’s animals land also, after we have taken most of it and haven’t stopped, so why should it be put down, or why not relocate the bear?
