    1. This kind of behavior is not tolerated 😂😂😂😂you sound like your 85 years old they are not being heard no empathy this is what I dislike about our culture

  1. why should they get a ticket amnesty when they are the worst drivers on the road and contribute to so many accidents??!!! dont give them any amnesty!

    1. Plus.they should pay their tickets when they get them. Strike to not pay ticket today then strike next week regarding pot holes in the roads.

  2. There shouldn’t have any damn amnesty , straight jail or license suspension. where else in the world can a driver have as many as 150 tickets and still operating a public passenger vehicle.. joke thing. bout
60 years of independence ..60 years of s#!+.

  3. I normally don’t post but I had to say something there is no buses there’s no taxi parents don’t have any cars to take their children to school and the children still push through and make it to school yes they reach a little late and you’re going to turn them away because they reach late. this is ridiculous very mind-boggling how are you teachers going to send the kids back home for what because they’re little late don’t aren’t you all aware that there’s a strike with a cabs from my understanding a lot of children take the cabs to school what the hell is going on in Jamaica. it’s like things are going backwards it’s like A primitive place come on Jamaica get it together and the teachers need to get it together too how can you send children back home because they’re late have some heart for these children who made it to school do you know what these children had to go through and how far they probably had to walk what you going to turn them away I don’t know people the amount of prayers we pray for Jamaica and it’s going nowhere I don’t know.

    1. they should be fired period, the ones on the road stopping these taxi operators from going about they’re work, they should be held and charge….government wants us to be tolerant though, so let’s sit and take it right? 🙂, hell no we need to take the streets and protest against this protest and all the other bullcrap happening around us….

    1. yes I believe that the police should charge the ones responsible for removing people from these transportation, lock them up, because there is no way we can be protesting for wrongs, this is how stupid and backwards jamaicans as become, these taxi drivers are some of the worst people in transportation using our roads, it can not happen that they are being a nuisance to the public and authority and expect not to be penalized…., this is utter nonsense and rubbish, and then students turning up late for sschools, and teachers sending back the kids on the road, all those idiotic teachers should be fired, where are the civilized jamaicans out their ?…, we need to put a system in place where people should think before acting or else, people of Jamaica needs to protest withing this stupidity of a so called protest and stop them, we cant continue like this, those are literal criminals removing people from their need of transportation to get they’re daily business done, and complete they’re full weeks attendants, it’s not right, using this kinda force in violence against people’s rights, and then the government body at the same time want us to forgive and tolerate, smh, come on man, we continue like this, people will start leaving our country watch…..those of who have the will power and mindset to make things better, they will leave, because it’s not a good look……

    2. TRUTH!
SUSPEND ALL LICENSE WITH CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TICKETS TO THEM.
APPLY THE LAW! THIS IS ONE EXAMPLE OF HOW JAMAICA REACH WHEE IT IS. BAD BEHAVIORS ARE TOLERATED!

  4. So taxi operators want to operate with scant or no regard for the road code and laws and get rewarded by sticking up the government.

    1. Thanks if the government bow this they a week some time last or the year before they got a chance to go and pay it and now they want amnesty loom at unuh

    2. Jah Jah. Man with big gun who walk and kill people can get amnesty but a little man who a run some taxi, kill him car pon di bad road dem to carry those who cant buy a car yet cant get such help? Unoo wicked. Hope you guys never need an amnesty or mercy. Ther will be no mercy for the merciless.

    3. NO MORE DAMN AMNESTY!
TAXI AND MINIBUS DRIVERS IN PARTICULAR HAS NO RESPECT FOR THEMSELVES, OTHERS, THE ROAD CODE, POLICE OR PASSENGERS!
SUSPEND ALL LICENSE BASED ON THE NUMBER OF OUTSTANDING TICKETS AND ESTABLISHED LAWS!
      ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Just go to Halfway Tree, Spanish Town and Downtown Amy day and observe those taxi and minibus drivers! RUDE, CRUDE, AND DISGUSTING SET!

  5. Dr. Tufton, if Mr. Wright made it “right” with God, and whomever he wronged, then requesting the public to forgive him is redundant. He has never publicly admitted any wrongdoing. It would’ve aided positively his character if he did do so and used it as a teachable moment, considering the fact that our country is struggling, gravely, with a healthy approach to dispute/conflict resolution!

Everyone deserves a second chance, we agree, and who are we to judge, but he is a public figure and to whom much is given, much is expected. It IS time to move on, but, PLEASE, never dim the spotlight on domestic abuse! It must NEVER be discounted!

  6. Under no circumstances should the government even entertain this selfish stupidness of these taxi operators, to go much further the organisers of this chaos should be prosecuted and taken to court. The roads of Jamaica is a killing field clearly, from the fact of speeding and indiscipline driving and of scant regards for the road traffic act. The law is very clear if for some reason you are given a ticket you either pay it or dispute it in court, it is a very simple process. Why don’t these lawless operators pay for the ticket they receive why do they wait and until there is a massive amount, then asking for sympathy. The impact on the travelling public is very disruptive and inconsiderate and under such circumstances no amnesty should be given, those with numerous traffic tickets they should be charged and have their licences suspended. The indiscipline on roads must stop period.

    1. Have you ever been to court to dispute a ticket before ?
The traffic court judge will tell you to plead guilty and pay the fine because you cannot win . First of all the officer is not going to turn up in court

    2. @Phillip Melbourne A.k.A real yute how much time should they be given? Let’s be realistic here, you have 21 days to pay for a ticket. An operator, working every single day, earning more than the cost of the ticket, need more time to pay it? Selfish and a lawbreaker. And then the audacity to endanger other people, and their children and family because they didn’t pay. Explain to me how you can rationalise someone with a stick, threatening other people going about their livelihood?! They decide to stop ppl from going to work, which they need for their survival, bcuz they failed to obey the law?! Oh yeah, the public should hold their hand (very sarcastic here btw)

    3. @Phillip Melbourne A.k.A real yute You not asking for my right, they have infringed on the rights of other Jamaicans by threatening them and breaking the law, making it worst for the society. There is no justification for an evil act, if you break the law, ask for leniency and obey that which was put in place for a better society. If you want a change, rational actions and communications must be in place.
I don’t see any private operators taking to the streets, damaging other people vehicles and threatening passengers. So which Jamaican right are you talking about?

    4. @Keith Francis Not true, which court have you been to? The judge cannot tell you to accept the charges, the evidence (ticket) is presented and you are asked whether you plead guilty or not. It is your choice. This law is written and read verbatim, they do not deviate from it. I have seen and experience leniency in court.
If you were told by a judge or officer to just plead guilty, then get a lawyer and sue the govt. bcuz they have breached the law.

  7. This could have easily been avoided if for the past 8 years the government was maintaining the JUTC buses and bought new ones but not. I don’t agree with the taxi and bus operators on this one many drive badly and overload buses and taxis on top of overcharging passengers so they want reprieve for tickets many of them got through their fault. I agree with the St Elizabeth driver

  8. The government needs to put something in place to Cancel driver’s licenses after 5 tickets, take a look at the records of most of the public passenger’s vehicles that are involved in some of the serious accidents that are on our roads.

  9. ABSOLUTELY NO AMNESTY!!! THOSE TICKETED TAXI OPERATORS ARE THE REASON FOR THE LAWLESSNESS ON OUR ROADS! PROSECUTE THEM TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!

  10. Jamaica needs a proper train and bus service. The taxi drivers need to follow the law and pay for their tickets.

  11. So true, taxis drivers are some horrible sets of drivers. They drives through red lights, overtake short(watch your bumpers), they create more lanes. They caused unnecessary ticketing, in an unfair system

  12. The government shouldn’t give in to these taxi drivers instead they should take their licenses away when they reached a certain amount of tickets. Then they would get to be discipline and drive better on the road

  13. They do not deserve a amnesty, they are the worst set of drivers on the road and they are always breaking the law , providing them with an amnesty because they are behaving like this will only make them behave worse

  14. Jamaica is one of the most indiscipline country in the world, there’s no way a driver should have 100 tickets violation, and still has a valid driver’s license, only in Jamaica.

  15. I WISH THE COMMUTER’S WOULD STRIKE FOR AT LEAST TWO (2) DAYS. THEY KEEP HOLDING CITIZENS HOSTAGE FOR TOO LONG. THIS PRATICE NEEDS TO STOP. WE NEED TO SHOW THEM THAT THEY NEED US AS MUCH AS WE NEED THEM.

  16. As an observer of the behaviour on the road by taxi operators on daily basis, the govt must not give into these despicable behaviour. Ignorance will kill this nation. They are criminals behaving this way.
Law abiding taxi operators must be protected and criminals be removed from the streets, inclusive of loader men who threaten and behave violently
