Chris Hayes Podcast With Abby Livingston | Why Is This Happening? Ep – 136 | MSNBC

Are Republicans losing their grip on Texas? Election night saw Democrats largely unable to build on the gains made in 2018 when an insurgent Beto O’Rourke ran a grassroots senate campaign that gained national attention. But despite frustrations from Democrats that they didn’t perform as well as they hoped this November, there’s still cause for concern among Texas Republicans. The population in metro areas is growing rapidly and demographics are moving to the left. So just how strong is the Republican hold on Texas? Abby Livingston is the Washington bureau chief for The Texas Tribune and just so happens to be a seventh generation Texan. She lays out the origins of the Republican domination of the Lone Star State, what clues she picked up on that things were starting to change, and what to keep an eye on in future elections.

  1. Rump is evil…Even worse, businesses with addresses at properties owned by President Trump and the family of his son-in-law Jared Kushner received more than 25 PPP loans totaling $3.65 million, according to NBC News — and 15 of these businesses “self-reported that they only kept one job, zero jobs or did not report a number at all.” The Triomphe Restaurant Corp., which is located at Trump Tower in New York, received a $2.2 million loan and subsequently closed without saving a single job.

  2. This was on point. I wonder if they will do a part 2 once they have more ground info as Abby mentioned and can better flush out the election results and what will be the next steps for both Democrats and Republicans in Texas. As always, Chris Hayes was impeccable in his commentary.

    1. Isn’t he always? I’ve not even fully listened yet just browsing comments. Love buddy seasons greetings and hope you looking forward to a really happy new year come Jan 20th.

  3. Walmart is literally swiping every receipt manually at the exit. Creating a traffic jam of people, and making sure everybody touches the same employee on their way out.

I guess they bought out of social distancing and common sense.
