Chris Hayes: Yeah, We Should Bail Out The Ritz-Carlton | All In | MSNBC

The issues facing the Payroll Protection Program are being framed as big businesses pilfering money meant for local establishments. But the real problem is a basic flaw in the program: it should be open-ended. Aired on 04/29/2020.

  1. Let Ritz-Carlton file for bankruptcy. Someone will buy it up for cheap and run it more responsibly

  2. #Medicare for all Americans
Relieve businesses of the responsibility of healthcare.
    Let their responsibility be business.

    1. Low Koalatee only America can do something about this, I’m surprised that no one in the Republican Party has said enough is enough and took him out he’s a lunatic and slowly becoming a dictator he has to be the biggest embarrassment and liability in the history of the western civilised world stay safe from Stevie in Britain

    1. Go to college.
      Get a better job.
      Earn more money.
      Work harder.

      Do not ask questions.
      The American Dream.

    2. @Colin Cleveland went college and still ain’t going pay that type money to stay in that hotel see unlike you I get paid to travel with college football team so I have stayed in 100’s hotels better than Carlton for less money tell my way they should get our tax money we have they gave back? 10% off a $500 to $5000 a night room you can waste your money, in fact, send pictures

    3. @Jason Thompson 👍
There is a little cartoon strip of a rat in a one way system.
Every turn is a right turn, (the significance of which has just struck me)
      And each turn is signposted.
      Get a better job.
      Work harder.
      Get a promotion.
      Earn more.
There was no destination and nowhere to stop.
It kind of reminds me, now I’ve thought a little more,
Of Little Ben Shapiro and his Rules for Life.
      Be born rich.
      Live in a good neighbourhood.
      Go to a good college.
Use your connections to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and land a job at Goldman Sachs.
      Easy.

    4. @Cedric Richardson Sr I can see your time at college has benefitted you bigly.
      What was your Major

      malfunction?

  3. Fox believes that welfare should only be reserved for corporations and billionaires. And their viewers feel the same way. That’s why there’s only two types of people that vote republican, the most wealthy, and suckers.

    1. @Nevyn of OZ 1973 in other countries healthcare and education are considered human rights. those countries care about their citizens. america doesn’t. trump and his kids did NOT earn anything through honest hard work. they got their money through grifting and fraud.

    2. @Ben S have you ever heard of a MIXED economy? this means having regulated capitalism, so to prevent ceos from buying back their own stock and preventing fraudulent behavior, and having strong unions, worker co-ops, and wages that keep up with the cost of living. AND it provides a strong social safety ynet–healthcare, education, sick pay, paid maternity leave. it does NOT mean the govt controls everything under the sun. it simply ensures the people have economic rights.

here in america, though, corporations control EVERY aspect of your life from cradle to grave. they are free to exploit you, free to fire you without cause, free to poison you and your family, free to psrice gouge, free to neglect even the most basic safety measures–and you have no legal recourse.

to make matters worse, these corporations layoff people by the millions and move overseas for cheap labor, throwing entire communities into bankruptcy. the us govt them rewards those companies with massive subsidies. meanwhile workers livlihoods are ruined. but if these same people even try to get food stamps or healthcare or anything else, they are accused to leeching off the system, accused of being lazy when nothing is further from the truth.

simultaneously, when these same people are forced to take jobs like fast food or retail, work multiple jobs to put food on the table, you accuse them of making “poor choices.” ironically, when they try to improve their lives by getting an education and learning new skills, you say “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” and scream “socialism” when they apply for financial aid. you consider education “liberal propaganda” and believe all education, from kindergarten to college should be privatized because your selfish mind can’t conceive the idea of free and reduced lunch for children living in poverty. in short, no matter what the working class people do, you find something to accuse them of. you can’t understand one simple fact. the huge majority of people are born into poverty. the system is DESIGNED to keep people poor, to prevent social mobility. this is why the public schools that have the greatest need get the least resources, why kids graduate from high school, unable to read or write. poverty is generational, not a choice.

    3. @sharon rinkiewicz As long as you accept cradle to grave victimhood by these evil corporations, you’ll always be a victim. Corporations don’t dictate my life. I choose to work in a trade which I taught myself in a small business with less than 19 people. If I lose my job, I’ll find another one. If I can’t find another one, I’ll go study and teach myself another skill. Most others could do the same but they CHOOSE not to. There are more certificate study books at any local library than you can imagine, for free Its not the schools fault, it’s not the corporations, or big governments fault, it’s your fault if you don’t reach your potential. People can use their life as a reason or an excuse. Don’t get caught up in the Tyranny of Low Expectations.

    4. @Old Wong Only millionaires and morons vote for republicans , check your wallet which you are ..lol

    5. Darwin Tremor We still choose not to have them more than any other race in America. I have no desire to have kids. My sister isn’t having them either.

Economy has gone belly up twice in 15 years and I would actually like to retire one day. The most stressed people in my life even when the economy is doing well all have extra mouthes to feed.

    1. Ricardo Velchi we are. But the rich have their fingers in the national purse. And they want to make it as legal as possible to dip even more into the tax revenue to keep themselves afloat. On the tax payers’ bucks

  4. Is that why the stock market is going up while everyday Americans are struggling, probably more stock buy backs with their social welfare stimulus.

    1. There is a loophole in the bailout bill that allows each individual establishment to file as a small business.
For example: individual hotels in a chain can each apply for the loan, but the Marriott company itself doesn’t qualify for one.

    2. Yes, that is exactly what’s happening. To give the illusion that the economy is strong.

    3. Actually a lot of the reason why the stock market is still mildly ok is because of tech. They are propping up everyone else.

      And corruption.

  5. When a poor person takes advantage of something it amounts to dollars. When a rich person takes advantage of something it’s hundreds of thousands of dollars. We got people eating on $200 a month while some spend that much on one hamburger

    1. Citi Banks former CEO drank 1/2 bottle of a $300 wine every day on the shareholders dime (read= average customer).

    2. But the only way the burger is tastier is knowing that it you spent more than some hard working blue collar worker has to exist on. How else.can you prove you so much better than anyone else by doing good deeds? Helping others? Not kicking down? How unamerican the only thing more evil and anti Christian than socialism is empathy.

  6. Pretty typical of the Trump administration. Harass people who need money, while funnelling free tax-dollars to the rich.

    1. To be fair the last bailout was no different, Wall St got the money, no-one went to jail, and 9 million Americans lost their homes. It’s the American way.

    2. I wouldn’t be so quick to judge on this one! “The Ritz Carlton” ownes many historic landmarks around the world.

Small businesses are getting the good ol get there fast or get it in the butt.

    1. We are all poor!We are all victims we are being killed in our own country. The United States of America has foreign and domestic foes in our Government that has committed premeditated massive murderer and deraliction of duty Traitor against the people Genocide by the Whitehouse.Trump is not my president treason profferiteerng of the death.

  7. This is why I suggested, while under quarantine suspend all debt. Everything rent, payments. Give food allotment to those in need. A person or business under quarantine with no debt, needs no income. Just let the time pass. No cheque’s,no bailouts, discourages corruption . A time out. No not perfect , but vastly better than what is going on today.

  8. Its an american culture. They are used to bailing out rich people 🙂 Its the tax payer’s money anyway 🙂

    1. Charles Chin

Socialise the losses, privatize the profit. It has always been an American thing but in its current form, its an invention of the trumpublican party – backed by a base that is too stupid to see through the scam.

  9. It’s no one’s business what someone else eats. SNAP recipients get a set amount each month. When it’s gone, it’s gone. If you eat lobster on week one you might be on beans and rice for the next three weeks. If you are more frugal you can eat consistently all month. Same choices everyone else makes with their food budget so don’t act like he’s scamming more than his share.

    1. And of course, lobster is very rich. I don’t know if you can freeze it, but you won’t eat a lot of lobster in one sitting, so he was probably able to spread that out over several meals.

    2. @Valerie J. Norse Right. Or if you can’t afford an anniversary dinner out it can be a special gift and spend the rest of the month eating beans and rice. It’s disturbing that some people think a morally sound poor person (if they even believe in such a creature) should sit in a pile of ashes wearing sackcloth so the haves can feel superior. People need bread and roses. Granted he sounded cocky about it but maybe not, maybe he was just elated to have his card after missing meals for a while.

  10. Funny that socialism is such an ugly word in America.
Handing out money to big corporations are called bailouts but helping struggling citizens is called socialism.
Can’t get my head around that one.

  11. Corporations that used the McConnell-Ryan-Trump tax cut to buy back their own stock should sell stock to stay afloat during Coronavirus. There’s no need to give them more money.

  12. I want to know how many BILLIONS of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Donald Trump has got for his failing Trump Dumps ????

    1. Richard Thomas In years past, he claimed over a million dollars when a hurricane hit the Florida coast and his property lost a dozen tiles and a few trees.

    2. What i dont understand is how hes not in prison. Typically when you steal from people, defraud people & banks, you go to prison. Like how is he not in prison…?

    3. @Masha Kalinkina He has the money to draw a legal process out till the opposition runs out of funds and has to drop it.

    1. It has always been that way. And yet the Trump Party, formerly known as the GOP, tries to paint the Dems as being the party aligned to big business.
