Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told President Joe Biden that Georgia’s Senate race is “going downhill” for Democrats, remarks made Thursday that were captured by a hot mic. "The state where we're going downhill is Georgia," Schumer said to Biden. "It's hard to believe that they will go for Herschel Walker."

The audio was captured by television cameras as the Democratic Senate leader greeted Biden at a tarmac in Syracuse, N.Y., where Biden later gave remarks touting Micron Technology's plans for a $100 billion semiconductor plant. The president's response to Schumer was not picked up by the audio.

Georgia Republican Senate nominee, Herschel Walker, narrowly lead Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in the two most recent public polls of the race released. Walker, a former University of Georgia football star, has faced multiple allegations from women who say he paid for them to have abortions.

  1. he got caught on hot mic saying things that are happening in plain view, wow…. He’ll never recover from this leak

    1. @Joel Based on what? Schumer is talking about internal numbers the campaigns have. It’s not just his gut. What do you have?

    2. @Jack Burton He’s not saying anything that democratic strategists haven’t been saying on MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, NYT, WaPo, etc. The only thing remotely interesting about this is that Schumer’s summary is almost certainly based on internal numbers that aren’t disclosed publicly. But in this case, there’s nothing surprising or non-public about the top line takeaways. Maybe Nevada because that race has been a sleeper for most of the country.

    3. Who said it was devastating? Just an insight into what they actually think. That they are going to lose in November.

    1. @Wealth Not flawed and not saying it to be mean just an observation if you feel uncomfortable with your life that is a personal problem.

    2. @Wealth there is not “literally no incentive”, maybe you just can’t think of one. I won’t even touch on the rest of the laughable pseudo-wokism

    3. @Jermany 84 They are every time they open their mouth. So when are they not being dishonest with us? This is a better question.

    1. @He-Man’s Uncle if fetterwoman wins, penn state deserves the suffering he will bring. He wants to release life sentence criminals from jail for Christ sake!

    2. @MNGuardianFan I see what you’re saying. I’m referring to the media’s need for something to post, not the the conversation itself.

    3. @EndangeredMooseknuckle There definitely is a tension between the media making money and giving full truthful news.
But, it seems manifestly obvious to me that this is a a clear ‘important’ news story. And it is the case that not much was known when this report was given.
I don’t know what else they could do, TBH

    1. This is nothing crazy. Try eavesdropping on Chicago city council members. Lot of F-Bombs and bullshit that has nothing to do with policy.

    1. @Isaac Babb Politicians are human beings just like you and I.
Some are more good than bad and some are more bad than good.

  2. OMG this is groundbreaking news… story of the year. usa today is on top of things.. great job heres your star..

  3. Nearly everyone should be voted out. Nearly all top voices take kickbacks from you name it.
End Citizens United and let citizens unite in a different way against lobbying. Millions spent on advertising by corps that try to be secretive of who they fund

    1. Yes, most all of them on both sides are corrupt and need to be voted out. People could use to stop allowing them to divide us and us divide against them. It’s shocking to me how easily so many take a side all the while they’re laughing behind closed doors…..together with their millions.

    2. If they have been in office for DECADES that is a problem, no one should be able to amass MILLIONS while in public office participating in INSIDER TRADING and meddling in elections. Two terms should be enough for anyone. We need these people VOTED OUT.

      To the voters:

ACTUALLY OBSERVE THE WORLD AROUND YOU AND STOP VOTING FOR DEMOCRATS IN DEMOCRAT RUINED CITIES. I AM NEITHER A (D) NOR AN (R) BUT THE EVIDENCE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF IN PLACES LIKE CHICAGO, ATLANTA, BALTIMORE, WASHINGTON D.C. AND MANY OTHER PLACES. VIOLENCE, CORRUPTION , HOMELESS AND ECONOMIES IN THESE AREAS ARE RUINED. THEY LIKE TO KEEP THINGS SEVERELY MESSED UP AND BROKEN DEMANDING MORE AND MORE $ TO FIX THE PROBLEMS THEY HELPED CREATE, PLACING BLAME EVERYWHERE BUT WHERE IT BELONGS, CREATING DIVISION AND DIVERSION WHENEVER POSSIBLE INCLUDING INVENTING NEW WAYS TO DIVIDE THE PUBLIC, THE PROBLEMS NEVER EVER DISAPPEAR BUT THE $$$$ ALWAYS ALWAYS DOES.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his 1961 warns AGAINST The military-industrial complex. THAT is on FULL display today

    1. @Jake are you aware that the camera is hand held, and that if it was far away, there would be extreme shaking/movement…

  4. Ok so what’s the big deal? They’re just saying what everyone knows. Conversation should’ve been ‘you know Mr. incompetent President we’re fucked…

  5. OMG! I haven’t liked a news clip from USAToday in almost 5 years … Kinda crazy since even a teenager could tell that debate was a brutal loss for Fetterman

  6. Honestly they know exactly what’s going on, probably better than most of the public, but then get on TV and lie through their teeth.
