But I think that’s ok b/c it will reflect the fact that govt-run prisons will be held to a higher standard, and will attempt to reform the prisoner; whereas private prisons have a profit incentive to incarcerate longer, and to create repeat offenders. Private prisons don’t make sense in that profit incentives applied to prisons systems don’t align with society’s values.

It’s about saving our democracy at the polls: the right to vote and have that vote counted and a peaceful transition of power. Vote as early as possible (vote.org), complete the census and help two people outside your household to do the same. Ben Franklin after the Constitutional Convention in 1778 is believed to have been asked, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

This is a good point. I will never or forget the time I was in college, and to make extra money I watched a neighbors daughter after school. Her history book said that Africans came to America to “help” Europeans build the country. I was shocked at the blatant revisionist history in a publically funded textbook.

Interesting perspective. I was immediately drawn to that statement of rewriting history as well. History portraying African Americans mostly focused on Slavery and Civil Rights.pleae, rewrite history through the lens of those who lived the experience walking in the world as an American of African descent. Write all sides not just the brutality and the struggle to overcome. We are more than the negative portraits displayed in the media to be gazed upon as less than…We are proud, talented, beautiful, creative, built to endure, and so much more. Change tbe narrative and you’ll change the perceptions.
