A plaque with an image of a Ku Klux Klan member is mounted at the entrance of a science building at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, an August report from a congressional commission discovered.

The report from the Congressional Naming Commission, established to help remove Confederate names and monuments from military bases and institutions, includes an image of the plaque at West Point's Bartlett Hall, which depicts a hooded figure holding what appears to be a rifle with the words "Ku Klux Klan" underneath.

The KKK is designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which calls it "the oldest and most infamous of American hate groups."

In a statement shared with USA TODAY, the U.S. Military Academy acknowledged that "a small section" of a larger triptych of three bronze panels depicting parts of U.S. history shows a KKK member.

  1. No surprise. These COWARDS DO EVERYTHING IN CODE. is why they will go down ! AS COWARDS 👍🏽👍🏽🔥

  2. go ahead, try to erase it. let it be forgotten in time so the future generations can adapt to whatever lies they’re told easier. solid thinking

    1. there’s a big difference between forgetting your history and refusing to commemorate a terrorist group at a US military facility

  3. Now explain the reason it was added was to show where we came from, not to glorify it… You people are the worst.

  4. Doesn’t look like they’re praising it so much as telling the story of what happened. It belongs in a museum if nowhere else. Otherwise it’s historically accurate it would seem.

  5. The question is what is happening to America when you have Plex giving homage to the confederacy on the campus of West point

One would expect confederate flags and other symbols of treasonous traders would be displayed proudly on the campus of BMI correction shamefully for there should be no where in the United States of America where that flag should be flown prominently the confederate flag should hold a distinctive place of dishonor in any museum That with Marc the Neil breaking point in American history confederate memorabilia should most definitely not be displayed on the campus of West point and what message are you sending to the cadets I guess it’s self-explanatory there are confederates traders and haters of democracy in the administration and the class of cadets
Given that a cadet needs a recommendation from a member of Congress in the attitudes that Congress has displayed with respect to honoring this American experiment which we call democracy and it has yet to be perfected American democracy has many flaws shame and disgust and racism is the corrosive rod that obviously resides in the foundation of West Point for this to exist on its campus 2022 this is a betrayal as those in congress have betrayed their oath to the Constitution their office into democracy followers of Trump disseminators of lies perpetuators of hate greed be their first name avarice their last
And you West Point cadets and graduates he was your opportunity to push back against this rot that still exist in these United States of America you attend one of the worlds elite military schools bring back a modicum of honor to the institution and route out this evil does vile representation of tyranny torture And murder on your families on a yourselves honor the flag in the constitution to which you have all taken and Oates you men and women are projected to be leaders of men and women do so now lead with honor integrity and purpose restore America’s pride in West Point not doing the right thing brings shame upon you and your families and the institution
