Coronavirus Fears Cause Stocks To Plunge In Worst Week Since 2008 Crisis | The Last Word | MSNBC 1

Former Obama and Clinton Economic Adviser Gene Sperling tells Ali Velshi that the stock market is plummeting due to lack of information and testing as well as consumer fears about coronavirus: "Some of that consumer activity will go away and it will not necessary rebound later and that has markets worried, not about spin, not about politics, but actual economic demand." 1. In a situation as serious as this, a real leader would have experts like Dr. Fauci, and experts from the CDC, out front on a regular basis briefing , informing, and educating the public on the risks and hazards of this virus. A real leader would make sure that the people have all the necessary information needed to protect themselves. And it’s not a matter of fear mongering, it’s a matter of trust. Because fear grows from a lack of trust.

You can actually create a panic by intentionally or unintentionally misleading the public. Doctors and scientists should be the ones taking the lead in not only dealing with this virus, they should also be the ones taking the lead in briefing and disseminating the information to the press and to the public. No one wants to hear from two nincompoops like Trump and Pence, who don’t even believe in science. The administration job should simply be to ensure that the experts and all the institutions and facilities involved, has everything they could possibly need.

  2. Trump’s reassuring words of leadership about the coronavirus:

“We have done an incredible job. We’re going to continue. It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear. And from our shores, you know, it could get worse before it gets better. Could maybe go away. We’ll see what happens. Nobody really knows.”

Nobody really knows he says. 😲
This was Trump’s answer to practically every question on every exam he took in school and college.

  3. I like the part where t’rump, in an effort to calm the markets held a rambling, unorganized press conference that put his stupidity front and center, which just caused the markets to lose their sh*t even faster.
File this under: When Stable Genius-ing Goes Wrong. 😄😆

    • Blaming the current drop in stocks on Trump shows your stupidity. Next thing Indian could lose electricity and the stock marks dump but you’ll blame that one Trump too.

    • @Mugs 216 The virus is not t’rump’s fault. But the US government not being ready and having the guy calling the shots woefully out of his league…well, that IS his fault. And that’s why when the markets saw how unprepared t’rump was at his presser, it didn’t calm the fears, just validated them. Hence the reason the drop got sharper the day after t’rump let everyone know, he has no idea what to do, so he’s passing the buck to Pence.

    • Ro G zero deaths so far in the US but 14,000 deaths for people infected with influenza/flu season so far in the US. That speech didn’t cause what you are seeing and so far almost 3 months into this Carona virus I would say so far the are doing a pretty good job unless that changes.

  4. Trump: I’ve the best people working on Coronavirus. Next day: Stock Market drops near 1200 points.🙄.. 😁😂

  6. Public needs to worry about the administration who thinks of them self. And not their fellow human beings. This con man can’t pull off this con anymore. Trump just cares about the stock market not people.

  7. By having so few test kits…it keeps the number of known cases in the US very low….sheer genius. People have been flying in/out from all of Asia since Christmas…without test kits, they just have the “flu”. Now we have more test kits so the truth will now be seen. Watch as all of a sudden people are found that have the virus.

  8. Trump will eventually declare martial law and cancel all election. It’s all in the playbook.

  9. Don’t understand why all the Christians don’t just say a quick prayer. problem solved. No more coronavirus.

I bet that if Science finds a CURE for this Virus charging $1,000,000 bucks a pop will make some Multi-Millionaires wish they had Medicare for All.

  12. GOPers only defense is to deflect and deny what is plainly obvious.

  15. Our president is handling the country like his casino!

  16. It was already said, if there is ever a very serious threat to the nation, and trump is in office.. we would be in trouble. Well folks the worst case scenario is here. We are all in serious trouble! If you think there are not more people infected you are sadly mistaken. There is a mad man at the wheel! He is doing nothing!!!!
