  1. From an European perspective, I can tell you that the next election will be all-determining for the US around the world.
Our alliance will not be able to sustain another four years of Trump. The trade war has tarnished economic relations, revoking the Iran- and Paris agreement has tarnished diplomatic relations.

    • @Dumpty Humpty Some people aren’t loyalists but choose to vote against the warmongering Democrats.

    • @Chris H
Girl some corporate Democrats are warmongers but the majority of the gop are definitely warmongering and paid by the industrial military complex

    • @Dumpty Humpty Doesn’t matter. People on the far left are sick and tired of the interventionism that marked Obama’s presidency and are willing to risk another Trump term if the alternative is a neoliberal/neoconservative Democrat. So far Trump has been a dove compared to Obama.

    • @Guinness  You are completely right. Please ignore the ignorant trolls who insult you, they are the ones responsible for the mess we’re in. They are tools of the right wing Oligarchs who have purchased our democracy. Much of our population is asleep and brainwashed, our fear is that they won’t awaken in time.

    • @Ruth  If you give up and don’t fight, you are part of the problem.

Remembering the sulky bernie brats of 2016, I’ll vote for the Democratic candidate, as long it isn’t Sanders. He should run as what he really is, a Democratic Socialist, and stop fing with the DNC. He has never really been a Democrat. I’m so sick of him and the empty minded bullies that support him.

      @Deborah Freedman quit crying

    • @Deborah Freedman The Democratic establishment needs to learn to stop giving us corporate candidates. We’ve gone down the lesser-evil spiral too far already.

If it’s a choice between Bernie or trump?I’m definitely voting trump

    • @Vander valid
Then your OK with Trump choosing his 6-3 SCOTUS. I’m sure that would only harm the “establishment”. 6-3 and Bernie’s FreeToo movement is dead forever. The vote for Bernie or else extortion would work better is you weren’t holding the gun to your own head.

So Todd is curious to see how Cubanos affect the Florida vote. I’m more curious how restoration of voting rights to former felons do. I think they get their vote back this January.

As an outsider (being a Nordic European) I find it astounding how many so-called “christian” US Americans hate their neighbors, couldn’t care less about the welfare of their fellow citizens and are perfectly fine with corporate politicians screwing the entire population – even when the people being screwed are themselves!
The idea of EVERYBODY chipping in to ensure that EVERYBODY enjoys affordable health care and education has been around since the days of TDR, through JFK and, actually, almost every Democrat president to this day. A sufficiently big part of the US population (given all the gerrymandering and voter suppression) prefers to screw themselves by being against single-payer health care JUST because other people might benefit from it, not realizing that the “other people” includes themselves!

    • The major parties are both controlled by corporate interests, and voters are hypnotized by the nonstop partisan soap opera.

    • @Halfdan  The people who you refer to are so incredibly ignorant that they don’t know what they are doing.  They are totally brainwashed by right wing propaganda leading them right over a cliff.

    • Halfdan Ingolfsson | November 29, 2019 at 10:06 PM | Reply

@Orphan Annie – look, I don’t know how to say this correctly (English is my third language, and I’m struggling here), but I am beginning to believe that the biggest problem the US population has is that they spend all the time staring at their own navel. All the nations that the US is on a more or less equal footing with provide publicly-controlled necessities to their populations: Health care, education, infrastructure, safety. At the same time, they allow capitalists to do their thing – WITHIN REASON! A stark example is your closest neighbor to the north, Canada. They are an example of how the United States COULD be, but will US Americans learn from that example? Heck no, they are busy staring at the lint found in their own navel…
Bottom line: The way things are going, the US is not simply going down the drain, it is happening much faster than anyone would have expected and, the US being a superpower, it is going to be catastrophic for the entire world!

  7. The liberal media bubble is even more insulated than 2016, and their rhetoric even more irrational and vitriolic. I predict a second term for Trump — and lots more liberal tears.

“Not So Fast”…Ask the average person on any street corner
what right was guaranteed by the 19th amendment to the Constitution of
the United States adopted in 1920, then expect that puzzled look. What it meant
that women were in practice free from being just “barefoot, pregnant and in the
kitchen”, could go out and vote in an election, perhaps even run for public
office herself. Sounds like the very first steps toward ‘women’s liberation’, perhaps?
but I submit most women are still enslaved by hair dye, make-up with greasy
lips along with high-heels, as far as the image of the female journalist on
television is being portrayed, you see baby, you still have a long way to go
toward total liberation…question…are you enjoying that flight…Now, do I sound
    like a ‘feminist’? I sure hope so…

    • huh? not sure what you’re getting at here. (tbh, you sound “confused” to put it nicely)

“The Republican Party pioneered the right of women to vote and was consistent in its support throughout the long campaign for acceptance. It was the first major party to advocate equal rights for women and the principle of equal pay for equal work. Wyoming, the state that pioneered women’s suffrage, sent two women, Therese A. Jenkins and Cora G. Carleton, to the 1892 Republican Convention in Minneapolis as alternate delegates. This was the first time women were seated at a Republican National Convention. This convention was also the first to be addressed by a woman, J. Ellen Foster, chairman of the Women’s Republican Association of the United States. A strong believer in organization, Foster said her association had prepared work plans for women’s involvement in national politics. Copies were given to each delegate and alternate. “We are here to help you,” she declared, “and we are here to stay.”

    • The start of the American Decline was when the Women won the right to Vote. Just Saying
