Covid-19 cases are rising sharply in parts of Europe

The novel coronavirus has infected more than 37 million people worldwide and caused more than a million deaths. In Germany, Covid-19 cases are rising rapidly, with almost all of its largest cities becoming virus hotspots. Meanwhile, England is rolling out new lockdown rules as the city of Liverpool is set to be placed under tier three lockdown restrictions, the strictest of the country's new Covid-19 rules.

    1. @Mark bodman Yes. I’m from Finland and we basically quarantined people older than 70 years old.

Population in Sweden is 10.3 million people. They have had 5892 deaths due to the Covid19. Population in Finland is 5.5 million people. We’ve had less than 400 deaths. As you can see, the death toll of Sweden is so much higher than it can’t be explained just by mistakes at protecting the elderly.

Now, I’m not a fan of lockdowns, believe me. I really hope that we won’t have to go there again, even though our lockdown in Finland wasn’t as extensive as it was in many other countries in Europe. And I have no interest of telling any other country what they should do. But I do think that using Sweden as an example how this virus is not that serious, is not very wise. And believe me, I’m not saying this because I don’t like Sweden or something like that. Quite on the contrary, I care deeply of Sweden and people of Sweden. They are our neighbours, our friends, our brothers and sisters. We share so much together. I wouldn’t wish anything bad to them because it would feel as wishing ill to your friends and family. But clearly they have suffered from Covid19 very much. More than I think would have been necessary. And yet they actually are highly educated and smart people. They have practised social distancing, worked from home etc even without mandates to do so. That’s why their death toll, as high as it is, isn’t nearly as bad as it could be.

    2. I have no idea what this is supposed to mean but if you’re b a s h i n g the U S A, then G T F O now. Nobody is forcing you to stay (IF that’s what this s t r a n g e post is supposed to mean).

  1. Out of control in germany? What? Our hospital capacity is only 73% so we have a lot of space. Im german and it was clear that the numbers are rising our government was very clear and onest on that. We knew it and we will handle it.

    1. There is more to statistics than the data. There is a reason why the world doesn’t turn to Somalia, Syria, and Madagascar for advise on how to handle the pandemic.

    2. @Codename C Ah, so where were the Americans when Syrian refuges needed a place to go? Yeahhhh, might not want to bring up countries needing support when America legit closed our border to refugees.

    1. Stupidity didn’t exist in America before the Humans infested it. Humans wallow in stupidity … the fact that it has taken you this long to recognize it exists is a marker for how long it will take you to overcome it.
2020 is the year of clear vision.

    2. @Max Mustermann; I completely agree with your comment. These democrats are corrupt to the core. Have you ever noticed that these liberal/democratic media platforms have never told us American citizens the Law Title (US Codes) that this Covid 19 PLANdemic is being pushed under? Here’s the answer, Covid 19 PLANdemic is being pushed under Title 42 (Public Health and Welfare) of the US Codes. Here’s the kicker, Title 42 is a NON-POSITIVE law title that has not been enacted into a POSITIVE law by the Senate and House of Representatives of the US Congress. Since this Covid 19 PLANdemic is being pushed under a NON-POSITIVE law title, therefore, it requires FEDERAL FUNDINGS. This is why these corrupt liberal/democratic politicians are refusing to reopen their States because they know that they are lining their pockets off of the federal fundings.

In addition, the Hospitals are also in on this federal funding scheme. Every patient diagnosed with Covid 19 that has to use a “ventilator,” the Hospitals receive $39,000 for each case. Keep in mind, the Hospitals are codified under Title 24 (Hospitals and Asylums) which is also a NON-POSITIVE law title.

When Hon. President Trump caught wind of this federal funding scheme, immediately, he stopped funding the WHO (World Health Organization which also operates under Title 42) because this FOREIGN/INTERNATIONAL health organization, along with these corrupt liberal/democratic politicians and hospitals, are in direct violation of the Racketeering Influence Corrupt Organization Act of 1970 (RICO) and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Organization Act of 1977 (FCPA) giving the fact that this Covid 19 PLANdemic is being pushed UNDER COLOR OF LAW (meaning under a NON-POSITIVE law title which automatically subject them to RICO provisions pursuant to Title 18 USC 1961, 1962, 1963) and overall, is being pushed on a Foreign/International level (Worldwide).

Gov. Cuomo of NY proved that these liberal/democratic politicians are racketeering off of this PLANdemic by issuing a threat against the President’s life. As long as Hon. President Trump was providing the federal fundings, he was cool with him. Once Hon. President Trump stopped the federal fundings, all of a sudden it’s, “He better have an Army with him the next time he comes back to New York.” This is why it is important for us American citizens to understand the difference between POSITIVE and NON-POSITIVE law titles.

    3. @Major Minor Ah, a person who cannot just stop hating “Democrats'” get over it. Democrats and Republicans are both the same, yall are both idiots who only listen to one news source so shut up. Sick and tired of people like you.

  2. Sweden is not seeing a spike because we have had a semi lookdown a lot longer then most countries have had a full lockdown. If you open up directly there will be a sharp spike. But of course, some countries need a full lockdown based on that country’s population density etc – no two countries are alike. A full lockdown needs to followed up with a semi lockdown.

    1. @T W It’s an 11% mortality rate for 70+ year olds. And there are neurological symptoms in many many thousands of patients that persist. Hopefully aren’t permanent.
      Don’t underestimate Covid-19.

    2. Sweden is more complicated than you want to belive. You have an excess death per capita (this year) higher than France. What is different this year from any other year in the past? Ask in care homes than did not test people with symptoms and did not sent them to hospitals but followed instructions from administration: morphine and forget. Cases’ number low, hospitals empty 56 EXTRA tombstones per 100 000 people.

More than once I heard from Swedes “they would die anyway”. True, but for me something isn’t right here since they did not need to die THIS YEAR ANYWAY.

    3. @T W BLM has been linked to NO surge or spike in covid19 because they wear mask where Sturgis, republican party goers have caused surges all across america, Redstates have the fastest growth rates. Try again racist

    4. @Mariusz Furman Yes you are right, we failed in many ways and did not protect the elderly because our equivalent to the CDC and government didn’t enforce stricter rules in regards to the care homes and the care homes themselves tried to hide the true number of deaths. Sweden has for many years cut back funding for elderly care and the private sector has a large stake in the care homes which prevents communication, and the workers at these facilities are underpaid and don’t have the proper training because the administration has cut back on permanent jobs and instead implemented just-in-time management.. Correct, they wouldn’t have died if our government had acted differently in the initial stages, implementing different kinds of lockdowns for different sections of society. But it is still true that we aren’t seeing a spike in cases.

    5. @AddForm
No, it’s not abouts private care homes. It was clear instruction from central and regional administration, deliberate decision to use palliative care INSTEAD of oxygen and/or hospital treatment.

Tegnell is also fairly independent in his actions, so I see no reason to blame the government (too much). Also you had a spike. You just did not put it on the paper. You cannot spread so many bodies evenly.

  3. “Stuttgart asking the military” <= That is for contact tracing. Public health authorities risk failing with contact tracing, and if contact tracing starts to fail, it could get bad.

    1. That is probably our only real defense. Contact tracing has put Amherst and Sunderland Massachusetts back on the hot zone map due to a party of UMASS students. Opening up too soon in Europe is very telling and there are officials here in the US in most states that are paying attention. Governor Baker of Massachusetts has been very effective listening to the experts. Bite the bullet now so we can try to get back to something close to normal by late spring 2021. Be safe.

    2. We have successfully used contract tracing in Australia and have it under control in most of the country. We have an infection rate no where near other countries. We do still have active cases but getting on top of them early is the secret

  4. *We need better Science education in schools*

We can’t have societies with people substituting their “feelings” for data.

    1. @Major Minor JUST BECAUSE YOUR INCOMPETENT LEADER OF CULT45 SAYS SO IT DOESN’T MAKE IT SO. THE BEST STRATEGY AGAINST A VISUS IS TO LISTEN TO SCIENTIFIC DATA AND IMPLEMENT A PLAN .

    2. Kris Brooks not even Science is the most reliable pathway to what is evidently true with methods that are open minded enough to change. Unlike actual religions with a book that approves of slavery, murder, rape, genocide, death of gay people, death of atheists, and death of children. Think on that.

    3. @Kris Brooks Because science is just better. 1) Science is a fact, religion is more of an opinion, what you belive in. 2) Did religion invent the universe? 3) Science always existed , religion is something us humans created, like the terrible spices that we are.

    4. @Hardcore Black Atheist Yes, science IS in fact the only way. If you don’t like the truth, then DONT discuss science. In fact those ‘feelings’ are science too. Its called neuroscience.

    5. @rolan4 dezwinz first off, 75 yards costs about 4 dollars, and a hat uses about 2 feet worth of tin foil maximum.

I would know, because I have already made one… except I made mine a helmet.

    1. @Jer Jibe AS LONG AS YOU DO IT TO ALL OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.
I ALWAYS DO MY ARNOLD WHEN READING GERMAN/AUSTRIAN PEOPLE COMMENTS. LOL

    2. @Jer Jibe Xenophobic, where the hell did that come from, are you really that scared because of political correctness? There is not a hint of xenophobia in your comment

    3. The Netherlands here.
Almost 7000 infections a day,on a population of 17 miljon. We are going into a next lock down.

  5. Please try to lose the Fox-ish tone from your coverage and choose being informed over gossiping from a perspective of having to be loud on camera to be heard.

  6. Yeah. I get it. The headline “military has to fight covid in Stuttgart” is soooo good. But please let your viewers also know: They do, with their mobiles as they support proper efdicient contact tracing.

German death rates did not increase. The health system works. Still enough capacities at intensive care units.
The health system is proven. And open for all citizens.
The summer was quiet. Schools opened many of us are back to work. It’s colder and we are more inside. This is a consequence but we are not overly concerned as we still have everything under control.

Why don’t you broadcast about the big industrial nation that never made it out of wave one. Piles of death bodies in New York that went totally out of control. Self-diagnosed immune president… This is the real actual drama. Gosh, do you have serious media in the states? And do people actually watch it?

  7. Mexico has been doing the Traffic Light “lockdown” method. Some states are red, others yellow, and few are green. These colors can change weekly, as cases go up or down, risk goes high or low…

  8. Yea we know blah blah blah everybody’s going to die from covid unless you vote for Biden blah blah blah. See ya at the cemetery

    1. FOX has been squeezing fear out of morons for years. Any major media publication fear mongers, and the Republicans and Democrats all eat it up.

  9. It’s interesting how cnn no longer references ICU capacity or rising death tolls. It’s just daily reporting on infections.

  10. Playing politics again cnn with a virus that has killed less than in a usual year for respiratory illnesses. Fear miners!
    Political manipulators!

  11. Anybody really buying these charts, it’s been 7 month already CNN, how long are you guy going to milk this virus?

  12. When you’re testing 3 million a day the cases go up. Hospitalization numbers are what’s important to watch
