CTV News Archive: Female pilot Turi Wideroe lands in Toronto

#CTVNewsArchive: On Feb. 24, 1970, Turi Wideroe from Norway, the world’s first female pilot to fly for a major commercial airline, touched down in Toronto as part of a three-week trip to North America. During an interview, Wideroe joked that she hopes more women will follow her so they can take over for her at press conferences.

  1. Was disappointed to see her in the co-pilots seat though. Hopefully there was another newscast in the weeks after when she’d qualified to pilot that same plane. Thanks for posting though!
