CUPE strike | Canada’s unions stand in solidarity against Ford’s use of notwithstanding clause

The union representing 55,000 education workers across Ontario will end their mass walkout after Premier Doug Ford offered to rescind the legislation that made the strike illegal.

  1. Kids education in Canada is a joke. The government needs to match up
    With todays inflation and stop this drama. Just give the money where it’s important. And the rest really need to consider the consequences this has on children.

  3. I am so glad I am out of the unions. As a nurse I had no choice but I saw the ugly side of unions more than once and yuck is all I remember. I considered them another tax to pay and nothing more.

  5. And since when was BTW legislation unacceptable? It has been done many times. A legitimate use of parliamentary power, better than some in recent years.

  6. I thought cupe was to help the kids regain their educational standings. After cupe was paid for 2.5 years while sitting on their asses not helping students. Now they are trying to show how they are helping students by going out on strike!

  7. Solidarity! Poverty is legislated into the very core of Western system. Bargaining and negotiating is the last line of defense.
