Well, first off, it isn’t her city. Everything about D.C. is Federal Government.
Second, D.C. is a territory, not a state. She holds no power here!
She’s an elected official, not a federal appointee.That means she has accountability. And with accountability comes commensurate authority, vested in her by the local electorate of the district. In a democracy you can’t divorce elected office from the power it holds, granted to it by the governed. The office of mayor holds power in DC, but the scope of it has never been clearly defined. It never needed to be, until now.
