I agree with Senator Crawford, proposal to increase the age of sexual permission to eighteen years of age and everything associated with it. To improve our human capital and the state of the nation’s living conditions.
Father’s must play more of a support role in their daughter’s life as well

This is unacceptable, and also hypocritical. You need to create the type of opportunities where the girls will see far greater value in pursuing those opportunities, than heeding a premature urge before self actualization. When a politician is lazy, and does not worth the while, they resort to a slavery mentality in that they attempt to criminalize their men, and displace their citizens, thereby destroying potential family structures.
Really hope it change to 18. I hate seeing young beautiful ladies under 16 getting pregnant.. not even like see them pregnant at 16 or 17.. body cant handle those changes so well.. not even talking about how hard life is in Jamaica already.. am 27 with no kids..a professional worker and still. ..life is very hard!!

how do you know what the body can handle or not? are you a doctor? I am sure, people have been getting knocked up at 14 , 15, 16 etc since the beginning of time. come to think of it, in south america, the age of consent is 16 and in the middle east a adult could marry a 14 year old and for some reason these places are doing 10 times better than jamaica!
girls are maturing today at 12-14 due to hgh in food and look in their 20s at 16 so again, what do you know about the human body outside an illinformed opinion
@B Jvu having a period doesnt mean your ready for sex.. having sex at a young age doesnt mean your body is fully developed for pregnancy and natural delivery. 16 for as age of consent did entitle that at that age your body should be able to handle labor.. that’s why it’s not at age of 10 to 14.. there are many disadvantages of teen pregnancies.. still born, eclampsia ect.. I speak general.. thank God for C section and inducing labor.. i think 18 would emotionally and physically be a proper age to consent to sex and start a family.

Excellent idea to target the predators. Both parties should be aligned on this. Don’t see a reason why not.
Won’t change anything
Would raising the age of consent from 16 to 18 facilitate abstinence and teenage pregnancy? I strongly believe not. The phenomenon of teen pregnancy is more complex than that, I am afraid.
It might sound hard but that’s a good suggestion for more than one reasons
The world is changing the people themselves are changing but in all honesty there needs to be a better structure of the way things goes

that is nonsense. they were more people getting pregnant at an earlier age 40 years ago compared to today. the problem is, no one was tracking those data but everyone I knew who were adults got pregnant at 14, 15, 16 and for some reason the country did better than it is doing today.
now, what do consent have to do with anything? is the concent age of 16 stopping people from being sexual at 13 , 14, 15, ? the last time I checked, no one asked for care about consent
