    1. The sad part of all this: If you had tried to warn these people to not go there, they would have gone anyways. Arrogance caused them to die, too bad!!!

    2. @Ms. Gregoria 1. Don’t blame other nations for your overpopulation.
      2. Don’t think you can invade another nation because you want their land. Look at how well that’s going for Russia. And Aussies are shocktroops, their military forces are fierce, and they are part of Five Eyes, Commonwealth and the West, and are well regarded by their allies. (I’m Canadian. We’re best mates with Aussies despite living on opposite sides of the globe.)
      3. Crowd crushes are not caused by overpopulation. They occur in sparsely populated countries as well. They can occur anywhere there is a crowd and a bottleneck. And crowds can occur in any country due to festivals, football games, concerts, religious events, etc.

    3. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS THREAD? Is it a full moon as well as Halloween? Why is almost every poster responding to condolences with sick heartless jokes, religious gibberish and conspiracy nonsense, and a declaration of war against Australia.

    1. @베를린에 깃발꽂은 이반 동지 100% they worshipped the devil, it’s awful, I hope other country’s will learn the lesson, like usa,uk. Through this hallowe’en devil destroyed and killed so many people. I hope in the future Seoul and all Korea NEVER will celebrate evil day. Instead turn to living God, and ask forgiveness, God is good all the time, He loves you 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    2. Korea president got out from blue house and moved to those area so whole policemen went to the place where president stayed to protect. So a few policemen were there to control people. So people were stempeded into there. .. korea president…how come he moved to those Area… ….

    3. @베를린에 깃발꽂은 이반 동지 they died because of their selfishness, not all but most of them pushed other people Instead of being calm they eere selfish and violent to each other ,this is why they killed other people or were killed the same way..so many were no way innocent!!

    4. Really sad news but as a Christian I pray for them please Jesus Christ forgive them 🙏 but i humbly request all my beloved brothers and sisters please repent and turn away from your sins accept lord Jesus Christ as your personal lord and saviour God Almighty Father loves you 🤝🤝🤝🕊️🕊️🕊️

  1. People were trying so hard to revive others. This was such a tragedy. Our deepest condolences to the friends and families of the deceased. We also pray for complete recovery for the injured. Blessings from the USA.

    2. @Puppies are Power
My parents always reminded us to be home by 6pm. If you stay home nothing will happen to you. But what can I say I grew up in the old days. Be careful out there Kids.

  2. I don’t have the words to describe how heartbreaking this is. My sincerest sympathies to all those affected by these senseless losses. I am sending love and healing prayers to all.

    4. One of the problems with events like this one, is that streets are blocked off with chainlink fences. It’s the same way in the city where I live. You cannot simply “avoid the crowd” by walking down a side street, because all of these streets have are fenced off. It’s f*cking ridiculous. That’s why I stopped going to street fairs and parades.

  3. I spent 7 years in Korea. As much as I feel for all that were lost in this incident, the government and culture are careless and reckless about safety. The sinking of the Sewol should have been a big wake-up call but a year later I worked at a university with all the fire exits chained shut. My complaints about this were wholly dismissed. If a fire inspector from say, New York or London were to walk around Itaewon they would find tens of thousands of dangerous violations, not nit-picky issues like businesses would be fined for in New York or London. The same situation would be replicated anywhere in the country. Firedoors that won’t close all the way or are made of plastic panels, no fire extinguishers, raw electrical wiring exposed on exterior walls, chained exits in packed stadiums, dorms, hotels, nightclubs, etc. Until the government actually gets serious about safety and writing substantial fines instead of casually ignoring safety (ie taking bribes or just being bullied by wealthy property owners) I can’t imagine this will be the last mass death or “terrible accident”

    1. As a Korean, I admit that Koreans have a safety frigidity. It means that those safety issue will not happen to me. After the Korean War, their life was so intense for survival and only cared about growth, safety was the second, and there is still prevalent such lack for safety. As a result, industrial accident rate in the workplace is still No.1 among OECD countries. It is very shameful to experience tragic accident again even after the sinking(Sewol) disaster several years ago. Also, Korea has a culture of gathering. There is a tendency for collectivism to gather and follow a certain fashion when it spreads. You can tell by looking at clothes, hairstyles or Halloween parties. Koreans tends to emotions take precedence over systems or safety(Its totally different from Japanese). Sometimes it makes problem but sometimes it works with passion by making good performance in sports or industries . I think the above could be the reasons for disaster and there will be a improvement and reflection.
There are many examples of such stampede. Japan after a fireworks festival in Akashi City in 2001, a massacre occurred killing 11 people and injuring 247 people, Saudi Arabia 2411 Nos. in Meka 2015, Indonesia 132 Nos. in stadium last year, India 265 Nos. in temple 2005, Iraq 1005 Nos. on the bridge, Israel 44 Nos. in religious festival last year, Soviet 340 Nos in 1982, UK 96 Nos. in1989, Ghana 126 Nos. in 2001, China 36 in 2014, Pakistan, Nigeria …. and The united states 21 Nos in nightclub 2003.

    2. @open up we are safer than most of the rest of the world. You’re trying to compare the US to countries that are totally different from the US in size and population. Comparing the US to Japan is like comparing apples and oranges. If you’re going to compare then you should compare the US to big diverse countries like Brazil. But idc about comparing, South Korea has major problems to solve. It’s not an insult it’s a fact. SK needs to face their problems.

    3. @Andrei this incident will hopefully serve as a wake up call for them to take safety more seriously. It’s so sad and seemed like such a painful way for all those people to get killed.

  4. Tragic and terrifying. I was once caught in a crowd crush at a concert. Hundreds of people seemed to surge forward at the same time, bodies pressed together, and I was trapped near the stage. No one can hear you scream, and no one would be able to do anything about it even if they could.

Sending heartfelt condolences to all the families and friends who were impacted by this tragic event.

    1. @Mia That’s just one of the ways you can die in these situations. Typically what happens is that people get pushed up against each other to the point that people start getting crushed to death.

    2. Same here. I was getting crushed at a concert with nowhere to go. I couldn’t breathe and had to put my arms in front of my chest to give me space to be able to inhale/exhale. I decided to climb up on people and crowd surf out because I was so stuck. People can’t imagine what it’s like until they are in that type of situation.

  5. This is so heart breaking. I can’t even express the sorrow I feel for the victims and their families. Such a tragedy 😥

    1. The police in South Korea have no crowd control skills whatsoever. If you go to a large public event there, you’re liable to get trampled to death.

    2. The sad part of all this: If you had tried to warn these people to not go there, they would have gone anyways. Arrogance caused them to die, too bad!!!

  6. First of all, my sincere condolences to everyone involved in this tragedy, those who lost a loved one, the other participants who witnessed this, the first responders who had to respond and take care of those injured and deceased.
I don’t know how anyone who went to this even thought it’d be a good time…with that many people there’s no way one would even be able to get in one of the venues and being mobbed by people all around me is not my idea of a good time. I hope that in the future they will shut down roads in a few block radius and have outdoor booths like they do for food markets and festivals back to back in the middle and have each side of the street divided into one way foot traffic.
Prayers for the city of Seoul.

  7. I got caught in a human stampede visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. There was nothing I could do but try to keep my balance going with the flow of the crowd. My friend was totally swept away, however, I did find him later way down the block. It was a really scary experience. Condolences to all affected by this tragedy. Sending love from America.

    1. After the Travis Scott tragedy that happened last year, I refuse to go in tight areas of people with no escape. I was in a night club last month and my friend and I made it to the bar to wait for a drink and when I turned around, I started panicking because I couldn’t move. It was like this small club added 50 more people while I had my back turned lol I was out of there

  8. The line of people doing CPR just broke me. I am praying for everyone who attended that event and their friends and family. What a horrible, needless tragedy.

    1. @A A i thought about this as asian parents are known for strictness how did many 20s went there maybe because they just crossed their drinking ban age drinking is getting worse habit in korea they think it as a culture people dancing infront of ambulance drunk jesus i can’t even think how inhuman are they i think korea must ban bars during festives or events for safety purpose they can even celebrate at home … Lack of self awareness was the problem

    2. The reporting on this has been horrible. What is a “crush?” I had a crush on a cute Italian girl in 10th grade. You mean a stampede?

    3. @BC this could also be explained by asiatic teengers and their irresponsible behavior when it comes to k pop idols or music industry “idols” which they are obssessed with because of their meaningless lives
There re many things that could explain that tragedy but most comes from this insane frenzy created by korean music industry or showbizz ,they created these fake idols ,full of make up and plastic surgery image which fascinated many teengers and young asian people because..i dont want to be mean, but this is the truth and there is more hurting truth about korean and asiatic societies but i will stop here.

    4. @Elsa Scridon yes i totally agree seeing all the situations of obsessiveness of fandoms and also company going to that level at controlling artist and making them angel giving false hopes to people just for earning some money all this must be taken action towards companies and idols kpop is getting scary day by day saw so many obsessive fans online too

    5. @Fx Studio
Sometimes your ribs get crushed from doing cpr because you’re trying to keep your heart pump that blood to your brain and the rest of the body. It happens a lot in a Code.

  9. So heart breaking 💔. Deepest condolences to all families affected by this horrible tragedy. 🙏🙏🙏

  10. This is so absolutely heartbreaking. Holding the victims and their families and loved ones with love. I’m so sorry.

  11. It’s really heartbreaking. Never imagine what those people have experienced, it’s terrifying. My deepest condolences to all the people of South Korea.

  12. A horrific tragedy, my sincere thoughts and prayers to the people of South Korea and all the victims families and loved ones .

  13. Oh my god. I just heard about this in the UK. I literally just came here from the documentary on the Love Parade disaster, its shocking and so so tragic. Seoul is a beautiful city and South Korea such a beautiful country that I feel so privileged to have visited, and I’m heartbroken for all involved.

My heart goes out to all of the victims, their loved ones and families.

I’ve been in two crushes, one of which was coincidentally in an underground nightclub in Seoul in 2012. It was terrifying. You couldn’t breathe, couldn’t move, were just swept along and praying for fresh air and no stampede.

Again this was so small scale in comparison but I was so scared at the time.

The other crush was in London and my friend and I were lifted off our feet, screamed with dozens of others that we were being crushed and couldn’t breathe. Thank god we were noticed fairly quickly by the police and stewards amd they forced the entering crowds backwards to create space. I toom maybe minutes but felt like hours and my friend and I were covered in bruises from our backs and ribs being crushed. Idk about my friend but I have lasting mental scars from that day.

I’m still so afraid of dense crowds and have to scout out quick-exit points before a festival, parade etc.

  14. my heart goes out to the families of the deceased, sending my sincere condolences. this is so heartbreaking

  15. This is heartbreaking honestly, for those who wanted their loved ones to enjoy the day but didn’t come back, I can’t even imagine how heartbreaking that feels. Praying for the families in sorrow and grief. Praying for the teens and youth that faced such a horrific sight. I pray people are put out of harms way and the investigations led to a change. Sending much love and prayers to the people in South Korea and international people that have been affected❤
