An obsession is more like it.
Trump followers are cultists, plain and simple. They crave an authoritarian leader to follow and can find no fault in that leader. The only way to win them over is to overcome them, subdue them (vote) and send them back under the rock from which they came.

As president of the United States President Obama probably had the right to see all security data relevant to his role as Commander-in-chief. We now know that could have included Trump’s tax returns. Now, Obama may not have been able to divulge the contents, and he may not have known all about his deals with Putin, but he probably knew that Trump was not a billionaire, and technically bankrupt
