Denmark recommends 15 million mink be killed

Mink farms across Europe are raising the alarm over the mutated coronavirus among the animals. Denmark is taking no chances by recommending farmers kill 15 million mink. However, some scientists argue the fear over the mutation is overblown. CNN's Isa Soares reports.

    1. Nobody is blaming the mink. It’s not like they chose to live in cramped cages, being handled by infected humans.

    2. @The Tweatles Liberals are usually the ones protesting against these types of farms. It’s the mega rich conservatives who are buying these animals whose furs have been made into coats. & thus encouraging their continued existence.

  1. Humans are the catalyst. Mink farmers? Sheesh. It’s like George Carlin said, “The earth will shake us off like a bad case of fleas” for just mistreating it.

    1. People have known about the conditions these animals are farmed under for decades now. Most of the furs are bought by customers in China. & I honestly don’t think the people who buy these animals furs really care.

    1. @CoolfireX – the only reason we think humans are more important than animals is because we say so. It defies logic. We offer nothing to the planet but destruction. Just because we are the most capable of mass destruction in no way makes us the most important.

    2. this MUST be contained. Otherwise this mutation will render vaccines useless and we will never get out from this epidemic

  2. I’m shocked at the animals abuse in the name of fashionable outerwear. You and your mink coats can FO, Denmark! Get rid of the farmers instead.

    1. @Jason Vegan What do you mean next? You are aware the current pandemic came from eating trafficked pangolins infected by bats, aren’t you? Have you never heard of swine flu or bird flu? Why do you thing they are called that?

    2. @Sydney Saint The only mink coat I own was fashioned long before I was born. Why should I get rid of a 75 year old coat?

    3. @Deborah Freedman “Next” as in the next issue regarding viruses to be made aware to the masses. We here in chat may understand the breeding ground factory farms become, but plenty have no idea and still support animal agriculture in many ways. We as humans are going to need to come to terms with how the food gets to our plates and at what cost.

    1. @enriqueali sadly, i’ve never had mink shoes, handbags, belts, wallets, car interiors, furniture, or watch straps.

    2. @enriqueali well there is a difference if you raise a pig then slaugjter the pig eat its meat and use it’s hide to make shoes out of it…or raise the pig make shoes and burn the rest of it ….

    1. “We are part of nature”….no we are no longer part of nature.

It is just so 2020 for us to be within months of having a vaccine but Covid is mutating.

    1. I’ve never seen so many mink….
Are there mink farmer’s with the same in the US?
      (Wow, US farmers….. look here….)
Approximately 275 mink farms in 23 states across the USA produce about 3 million pelts annually, with a value of more than $300 million USD (2013). Wisconsin is the leading mink-producing state, generating well over 1 million pelts. Other important producers are Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Minnesota.

Money grows on trees and farms….
Cities grow problems and people population….

    2. @me amy
Yeah, these people don’t know ..
Mink have the most luxurious and soft fur in the world…..
The first time a rich woman touches a mink fur coat, they go crazy to buy a mink coat…..
These rich people are at fault, and have created that expensive market that farmers love to provide….. money, money, money kills those mink…..

    3. @IFEED Catering Animals rape each other. Stop comparing our morality too f***ing animals. Also, just don’t have sex if you don’t want a baby, instead of not dealing with the natural consequences.

  3. Lmao!! 😂🤣. Well yes! These humans….smdh……when will they stop blaming and looking for new ways to destroy mother nature and the animals?! Can’t you see how VERY happy this earth, and the animals, was during the quarantine period??

I reach yes!! What other animal y’all going to blame for something new?!! The animal that deserves sole blame for the destruction of earth is??? Can you guess?? Yes! HUMANS!!! 🤦

  4. If it’s not the mink it WILL BE the CHICKEN, PIG, or COW in FACTORY FARMS in the US. Until we change how we are treating animals, this will CONTINUE.

    1. @Dana Boyle Unfortunately, we can’t wake up empathy or respect for life in the defective brains that don’t feature those much needed character traits. Thanks for being one of the good ones.

    2. @mymonkeyisjank Being a triggered, racist “Karen” is opposite to the type of person who cares about animal welfare and suffering.

  5. Watching all those minks in cages – so close together – was very upsetting. You could see that they didn’t understand why they were there instead of their natural habitat. If people buy mink products, there will be people farming minks. Very sad.

    1. Thank you luv for pointing that out. We don’t need fur anymore! We have so many other ways of keeping warm!!!

  6. This was reported on yesterday as happening in Wisconsin. These poor, innocent little babies. I’m so sick of the human race.

    1. They MUST close borders. Until they contain this. Otherwise this mutation will render vaccines useless and we will never get out from this epidemic

    1. @B W Other species absolutely have the ability to reason and even if they didn’t it would make you more valuable nor justify you kidnapping, raping, torturing, and murdering them at all.
If anything the mere fact that human beings are the only species on the planet that destroy every single thing in sight, by your own logic human beings would be the lowest life form rather than the highest. So that doesn’t fly at all here.

Second, you clearly stated that other species have been “put” on the death for mankind’s benefit which is a religious statement in that being put on the planet means that someone consciously performed the action of putting them here which is utter bs.

We don’t have the right to do anything to other species. I note that you have failed to substantiate any of your claims so far and I will now make that list longer by asking you to identify who gave you that “right” to kidnap, torture, rape, and murder animals, which by the way always constitutes cruelty. I am still anxiously waiting for you to clarify what actions constitute cruelty in your eyes, if kidnapping, torture, rape, and murder don’t.

    2. @Peter Rayhan1. I never said anything with religion 2. I believe that animals are here on earth to benefit us, we create and destroy animals do neither. They can’t make cars, planes, rockets, tanks, or guns. Nothing give me a instance where an animal used science to solve a problem. Give me a instance where they have used mathematics to solve a complex problem. Give me an instance where they have done anything that will be recorded in history humans are at the point where we can clone animals so we hold life in OUR hands. Humanity is the dominant species on this planet and the rest of the planet should benefit us, we should respect it, and cherish it but not at our cost. There is no corporate policy that rapes animals, we utilize them for resources. Let’s say for the sake of your argument someone did rape a animal or abuse one. There family members aren’t going to cry about the lose, they can’t understand what is happening. This is my argument they are humans. WE are dominant and WE the human race can use them for our benefit. Animals are not equal to humans in any way other than biologically. Mental processes, theology, psychologically, or any other way. We are superior in almost every way. I respect your opinion but I’m sorry I will not sacrifice Human Resources to appease animals “feelings”

    3. @Peter Rayhan Some of those animals are carnivores and they don’t give a damn if they kill us. It’s in their instinct to kill for survival (for food or for defense). I’m against ‘unnecessary’ animal abuse but humans are superior to all other species. I’m a human supremacist and you should be one to.

    4. Why dont you sheep look up Event 201 online. The world leaders already knew that this pandemic was going to happen before it got bad. Read the scenario section and quit conforming to what these idiots tell you!
