Dissembling, Defensiveness And Partisanship: AG Barr’s House Hearing – Day That Was | MSNBC

The House Judiciary Committee spent a contentious day asking Attorney General Bill Barr about federal intervention in protests, his department’s handling of cases involving President Trump’s friends or former allies, and the upcoming election. Among other topics, Barr failed to give clear answers when questioned about whether it was ever okay to use tear gas against peaceful protesters, and whether it was ever appropriate for a president or candidate to solicit foreign assistance for an election. 1. @Thomas Armsworthy Jr Not the most mature comment Thomas! As for “badgering” think back to the impeachment of Trump and the ridiculous antics of the Republicans… being asked relevant questions in an assertive manner is not “badgering”!

    2. @Thomas Armsworthy Jr Barr will be wasting time going round and round and round with no answer………cannot believe you fell for it…..same strategy pattern for other Republican…….. wise up !

    3. One of the congressmen ask Barr if Trump would accept the 2020 election if Trump would lose..the question should be put to the democrats sice they still won’t accept the loss of the 2016 election results.

    4. @Thomas Armsworthy Jr Your analogy is a bit off hun! If Trump loses the election I am sure the Dems would accept the result!

    1. He’ll be quite popular with his Arian brothers. He’ll probably get a swastika tramp stamp.

    1. @Phinneas Bluster the only good Patriots left are the Lincoln project true conservative Patriots who are frustrated at what the republican party has become.

    2. Charles L Jones ……. lmfao ……. does it really matter to you … it’s a great time to be alive to watch what’s coming and nothing can stop it now.
Gotta love America the greatest country for mankind

    3. Just a bystander you think what about the rest of a holes in Washington does anyone think the rest are saints lmfao

    1. jeff mcgowan That is ridiculous on both parts. Trump/Barr have been breaking the law a lot lately, but you don’t seem to care about that.

    2. Dolores Reynolds don’t argue with trolls, they neither know or care what reality is. Indifference and ignorance is not going to be solved by a YouTube comment

    3. @Chern69 – Ask yourself this question…. Which “Rule of Law” does Barr enact on others… The “Letter of the Law”? Or, the “Spirit of the Law”? You can use Stone, Flynn, Comi?, ACA, as a few test runs if you want….It’s been a litmus test for decades 🤔😅😷✌🏽

  1. Every time someone agrees to work closely with Trump they end up looking incredibly stupid on national TV and get fired three weeks later.

    1. @John Swo -Not surprising, however.
Those that work for #45✳ all too often find *themselves* infected with *HIS* ‘communicable corruption’… *much* like an ‘ethical STD’.
‘Humiliation’, ‘resignation’ (and frequently ‘incarceration’) are the *INEVITABLE result* of ‘comingling’ with #45✳. 🤨

    2. This guy is too important to the administration. They could not commit their corruption without him shielding them from justice. Along with the radical right wing judges they’ve installed. So they’re not going to fire him. Exposing them is the best thing they can do at this point. That and make sure the GOP doesn’t cheat in the elections like it seems they’re gearing up to do.

    1. @erwin buendgens The representatives are managing their time against the republican filabuster and double speak. As my student just said, yes and no is all that matters, the explanation doesn’t really mean anything, so don’t waste time.

    2. Thats a stupid remark and i hope you teach your students more then that. They ask yes or no questions to entrap him….ofcourse context matters…the.world.isnt black or white, certainly these issues are to complex…context is everything…

  2. Barr’s law firm represented Epstein… maybe he’s just a Trump stooge who Trump has dirt on

  3. If he didnt do anything wrong and knows how the law works, WHY DOES HE ACT LIKE A COCKY CRIMINAL?

    1. @CynAnne1 I know right..lol..I seem to have triggered a bunch of the little nazi’s..haha. I imagine thier diatribes were intended to provoke a like minded response..silly humans..haha. Just to clarify, I am not american, I do my research, starting at home with national news, then world news and ending on american news so I can see how much crap is being spewed today and what the temperature is of the american ppl. This last 3.5 yrs has been..well let’s say bizarre…if only what was happening there did not effect the rest of the world.

    2. @Bluegold21 lmfao. Who gives af what Bolton says? Uhm NOBODY. Get a grip on reality and make sure you reserve your safe space now for screaming at the sky in November..spots are filling up quickly .

    3. Because he’s in the middle of mob culture, …..except mob bosses have a bit of a moral code.

  4. This administration is full of outrageous characters, it will be interesting for future political drama TV shows and movies.

    1. When our grandkids are watching the films of these bunglers, they’ll say, “grandma, this is too faky. I can’t believe there were leaders this corrupt” ….and they might be saying it in Russian.

    1. Bill h: you nailed it Bill and that’s precisely why Donald Trump won in 2016 and he’s going to win again in November. Thanks for confirming this. You’re a true patriot. God bless you Bill.

    2. @Lisa Wms I’m not sure that quote was necessarily directed at Barr; I took it more generally (and it’s one of my favorite quotes, BTW).

    1. @thomas Hooper i didn t had to chose, thank god i am not even an american, but carefully estimated with hillary 80000 americans still would be alive , so good luck

    2. @thomas Hooper where have you been. Even barr said they wouldn’t pursue charges against Obama.

  5. The American Bar Association has some responsibility in this by allowing a member to negativity effect the character of the profession.

    1. Good point. It’s people like Barr and Sessions who demean any bit of good reputation the ABA may still have. Brown spots on their official logo.

    2. Melissa – 💯%.
We asked, aloud, *months ago…* 🤨
“Has the ‘ABA’ *no cognizance* of *how* they will be *excoriated by historians,* let alone any regard for *their own reputation?!?”* 🤔

  6. Barr dodged that question, like Trump dodged the draft!
The “Honorable” AG Barr? 🙄 Not even a little bit.

    1. john frank : Yeah John F Kennedy was a really poor guy. Pt109 ???? Your statement is baloney

    2. @Demond Kemp with all of the damage Trump has done to the credibility of the republican party it’s highly improbable that we LL ever see another republican president…..not in this lifetime.

    3. @Phinneas Bluster poor white people in the republican party are victims as well as poor white people in the Democratic party. They both share common needs like good wages healthcare lower cost of medicine paid medical leave. But propaganda and political.ideology compels them to fight each other when they should be fighting together for progressive change. There is no progressive bills that will benefit one side without helping the other.

    1. I’m watching this from the Republic of Ireland and it is plain as day that this AG needs to be in prison. Even Nixon could not find an AG to do such blatant corruption.

    2. @Ian P Yes Sir!! You would be right!! Btw, I have a lot of Irish things in my home. I love your country. Just finished Ken Burns’ documentary on the Irish in America, I watched it again! Very well done and worth watching. The Irish helped make America what it is and Trump has no respect for our history, our democracy. His government and white collar thugs are moving ever closer to full out tyranny everyday!!

    1. jack pomerantz: The term the Great Experiment (aka the USA) is closely associated with the American Revolution—not the Civil War. If you’re implying that the conservatives will rebel when Trump loses the election, you’re assuming that conservatives have a spine; but they’ve repeatedly demonstrated they don’t. The conservatives have already lost the culture war. They were defeated by their own ignorance, hypocrisy and corruption without a shot being fired.

    1. Never ever vote blue Porta potty splashback water.KEEP ON TRUMPIN AND GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸🏁

    2. Danu’s Dragonfly still believe the Russia narrative huh? You guys are worse than flat-earthers

  7. “He didn’t know it yet” …that he caught the American version, post-Trump, of a Kremlin cold!

  8. It looks like Barr is on a hair trigger to just stand up and say: “f your laws and f your regulatory committees. I’m the AG, I’ll do as I wish.”
