Dr. Chris Pernell On Her Participation In The Moderna Trial | MSNBC

Dr. Chris Pernell, a New Jersey public health physician, joins Andrea Mitchell to discuss why she chose to "turn devastation into hope and victory" by participating in the Moderna vaccine trial. Dr. Pernell says "My father was a research scientist, and unfortunately this pandemic took his life away, but it did not take away his fight or spirit or legacy because I look to live that forward. As black & brown communities have been decimated by this pandemic, I saw a way to be a part of the solution. I saw a way to demonstrate accountability and to say how do we help to beat back this pandemic and to create a new narrative, a more powerful narrative informed by public health." Aired on 12/15/2020.

    SCS x 3
    Stop Covid Spread

    Fire burning in this house
How can we stop the spread
    Questions asked
    How can we get over
    Cover your mouth his mouth
    Social Distance
    Go now wash your hands
To stand and live another day
    SCS

    Stand in line
To vote or take the test
Rest to be sure its to be calculated and put into the proper category
    To be checked
    Win or Lost
    Alive or at Risk
    Hospitals overwhelm at capacity
Alot are dismissed many are now dead
From the hipocracy from the Covid Spread
50 States struggle to move ahead
    To flatten the curve
    Protests to Rally
I had to get to work take tests or vote
    Couldn’t cope with staying in
Had to get out. With family and friends
    Excuses
Now you and the wife coffin
Kids tripping aint trying to learn or be concerned
As the fire burns down many houses
Whole Towns as many ask what now
How can we stop the spread
How can we get over who now is dead
    From the Covid Spread

  2. Donald ignored Covid and lied about it like fraud in the election! The stock market is similar. 🎈🎈 what goes up, must come down, it denies Covid as well! One day the bottom… 😳

    1. Pretty soy, I went to kindergarten so I am a doctor like Jill Biden! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫

    2. @Frail Bones Biden You created a YT account just to come here to provoke and insult people. Wow. You must be a very stable genius too?

    3. @Frail Bones Biden your name “frail” says a lot. Don’t worry “you go’n be alright” Merry Christmas. 🎄🙏🎁💝

  3. Dr. Pernell, you were blessed with your amazing father, and the leadership he took on during his life. I am so sorry for the loss of beloved family that you have suffered. Keep fighting for education, and science, and real equality for persons of colour. You are a gift to the world.

    1. Progressive Soyboy, You live in make believe land where open borders are great because everyone has good intentions and we don’t need the 2nd amendment because everyone has good intentions! Kids shouldn’t vote!

  4. Great content and coverage! I’m concerned about Andrea though, as she appears exhausted. Andrea, you’re a favorite of mine.

  5. LOL i thought it was gonna be Dr. Chris Parnell who played “Dr. Spaceman” (“Spa-chem-in”) from 30 Rock. That would have been awesome.

  6. Over 30,000 people participated in the Moderna vaccine trials. They are *all* equally to be commended for their volunteering. Why single out just one person?

    1. Of course they are, but, that doesn’t undermine the individual story of those that have a story to tell. She lost her father and cousin to the disease. She speaks to her father’s struggle as a black American and rise above adversity. She can inspire people that I can’t because she’s a physician, and a woman of color. I think her story is beautiful. It makes me proud and thankful for diversity, for selfless acts and for the example of converting negativity and pain to something meaningful. I would give all who have participated in the vaccine trials praise and attention. I am grateful tonight for her story.

    2. @Dawn Moore It is also very important to not leave out what she continued to stress throughout her interview. An ongoing and serious conversation of how Black people have been demonized and abused for over 400 years in this country. We can’t move past anything until that thing is recognized and moved aside once and for all. America continues to lie or run from the death, pain, and suffering it has and is putting on people of color, and especially Black people.

  7. I give her a high five But my family will not be a lab rat. I will wait for a year or two before we get it. I need to know how many die…

  8. Dr. Pernell is an amazing human being. Most only aspire to have that type of strength and resolve. What a tremendous role model.

  9. Everyone’s story is important to hear, but I would have liked to have heard about Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett’s contribution to the development of Maderma’s COVID-19 vaccine. Early on in the search for a vaccine, there were a number of Nigerian doctors that were leading in the discovery of Pfizer’s vaccine and other independent African scientist that were/are leading the search for effective ways to battle this virus.
