Look on YouTube for DYI no sew masks using shop towels. All you need is shop towels, a stapler, rubber bands, tape and pipe cleaners. Double layer is better than single layer. I’ve read that, if fitted tightly, these have a very good filtering rate. I use double layer shop towel filters in the pocket of my cloth masks.

I wear my 3M rubber mask and P100s whenever I walk outside, and I shave any facial hair where the mask should seal (per 3M documentation), to minimize any possibility of air passing around the outsides of the mask. Not taking any chances with a neighbor suddenly coming from around the bushes, accidentally, into my personal space.
Call it “Half Life: Alyx Chic”. Ready for the apocalypse, j/k. 🙂
@Billkwando lol yah man, i definitely feel you, i shaved my head (and donated my hair) a couple days ago dude feels so much more sanitary and safer wearing my mask dude. so glad to hear you are staying safe lol and yah i totally feel yah, people have been pointing, laughing, and staring at my polish MC-1 and (most recently) my spasciani TR 2002 mask every time i’m out, but i’m thinking to myself, i’ll be laughing next year when they’re dead.

I wish there were clearer guidance on masks. I notice that Disney requires masks that go over the ears, I tried that and could not get it to fit properly , until i tied the two ear pieces together and slipped it over my head. Voila, a perfect fit. Now I make my own masks with two elastic bands that cross at the back of my head. Is their anything wrong with that?
ruth depew they do have some with adjustable ear bands, but I have just started tying knots on each side. I’ve been told I have a big head 🙂 but clearly one size does not fit all.

In Trinidad and Tobago they flattened the curve, stay at home orders, social distancing and mandatory mask wearing was enforced by law enforcement and the threat of $10,000 fines for non emergency travel and gatherings, the government mailed out masks to citizens weekly.
For every one person who dies:
19 more require hospitalization.
18 of those will have permanent heart damage for the rest of their lives.
10 will have permanent lung damage.
3 will have strokes.
2 will have neurological damage that leads to chronic weakness and loss of coordination.
2 will have neurological damage that leads to loss of cognitive function.
So now all of a sudden, that “but it’s only 1% fatal!” becomes:
3,282,000 people dead.
62,358,000 hospitalized.
59,076,000 people with permanent heart damage.
32,820,000 people with permanent lung damage.
9,846,000 people with strokes.
6,564,000 people with muscle weakness.
6,564,000 people with loss of cognitive function.
That’s the thing that the folks who keep going on about “only 1% dead, what’s the big deal?” don’t get.
Thank you for that. I’ve known the same for awhile. The media is so busy chasing the screaming wildfire that no one is going back to see what is lying in the ashes. Well, there it is – lives disabled by a stupid virus and our headlong rush to get back to beer and burritos.
