I’m surprised at the concept that this mutation is particular to the UK. Of course it is more widespread than that. The reason it was detected there is because they have a more sophisticated system looking at the ongoing genetics of the virus across the general population. It is mutating constantly all over the world, because all viruses mutate all of the time. The vaccine will remain effective and anti-vaccination lunatics are either deliberately looking to cause more unnecessary death or are refusing to accept basic science. It’s not like vaccines are a new thing and we don’t know anything about them.
Same reason the 1918 was named the Spanish flu, and not the Kansas flu.
Dr Vin Gupta does not know for sure if the current vacancies would be effective against the mutated virus.

As I understand it, This UK variant was discovered because the UK has excellent systems and was looking for the inevitable mutations that occur in viruses. It may not have originated there and may already be within other countries. It is a serious mutation, in that increased infection inevitably leads to additional deaths, that cannot be avoided. We battle this with the same vaccines, track and trace, masks, washing hands, social distancing and being socially responsible. Same mantra!
Correct, my understanding is the thst UK much more routinely sequences test results for Covid 19. I also understand that the UK has sequenced and made the data available of 40 to 50% of the data for Genome sequences, more than any other country in the the world including the USA. Given that Trump has allowed the virus to run rampant, I find it hard to believe the new variant is not in the US.
The UK virus is a real one. China virus was a test run.

One big problem with the new strain of Covid-19 is that the current tests will not detect it.
So the current tests are just about useless, as you will get a false negative. Letting people think that they are covid free as they spread the newer virus. It’s a mess folks.
What a coincidence that a “more deadly” variant of the virus comes out JUST as the vaccine becomes available
