Yes because Covid had nothing to do with it. Before Covid the unemployment rate was at its lowest in 50 years. Obama faced the recession of 2008. If you are talking about the percent of infected people that die, in the US it is 4.15%, not 0.3% to 0.4%. You are out by a factor of 10. ((136,652 x 100) / 3,291,365) = 4.15%

I have yet to see any reporting on the psychological toll the virus has taken on kids to this point in general – devoid of concern for schools and education. Ought that to be looked at and understood before we demand they be thrust into a circumstance they are fearful of and be damaged by in and of itself?
I appreciate that healthy education and socialization are paramount to solid development. Throwing them into a traumatizing deep end can countermand ANY benefit.

The faculty and staff also need to be considered as much as the kids. Many are older, as are the substitutes that would fill in for them were they to get sick.

I hesitantly (and inevitably mistakenly) took my 6 yr old daughter to 1 week of summer camp at a Montessori school here in FL….and not only did a little girl spread Covid around the entire school but my daughter brought it home to my 2 teenagers and myself. So kids are DEFINITELY spreading it. They RARELY have a fever tho, symptoms are very mild, and they don’t lose any energy….which means parents won’t be keeping them home from school for the minor sore throat or sniffles (how it started for all of us) which is a recipe for disaster!

Covid19 causes pneumonia. States (in particular, Florida) are labeling some deaths as pneumonia and not Covid19 to lower their deaths by Covid19.
