Drastic Increase In Projected COVID-19 Deaths As States Relax Social Distancing | MSNBC

“Reopening the country is going to be deadlier than we were told,” Katy Tur said as a new report projected 135,000 U.S. deaths from coronavirus by early August. About half of the country’s states are reopening to some degree, amid a disease curve that has flattened in some places but has not decreased overall. The U.S. could see a daily death rate that exceeds that seen during the previous peak, when medical staff and mortuary services were past capacity. 1. What is wrong with that country? Are that many people determined to self-destruct? Can’t they wait a few weeks or months to avoid what will take years of pain to get rid of?

    1. country? you nationalists are all the same. Dumb and judgemental bigots. Your kind here in america elected trump. Hows it feel to hate yourself?

  2. What does a Trump supporter and a bottle of beer have in common?
They’re both empty from the neck up.

    1. What do Biden supporters, Hillary Clinton, Obama, Greta Thunberg and AOC have in common? George Soros.
Did you know that George Soros has stated his goal in life is the destruction of the American Economy and erasure of its borders. How much is Greta Thunberg worth? $49,000,000 Million Dollars. How much is Hillary Clinton Worth? $45 Million, Clinton Foundation $500 Million. How much did Hillary receive from russia to broker the uranium One deal? $147 Million.

  3. trump: calls for states to reopen
    states: reopen
trump: the numbers of deaths are going up, who could have known?

    1. D3ATH J3ST3R 13 Thank you, I will….I need all the distractions I can get in these times of lockdown! And I suggest you find some new friends….your present ones seem to be as gullible as you….lol.

    2. @Genghis Smith lol…o.k. Buddy. My friends are fine some are Democrats some are Republicans… I don’t choose my friends by political views because that’s a Sh*tty way of judging people. But stay safe with the “lockdown”.✌🇺🇸

    3. Dr. Deborah Birx Questions Accuracy of IHME Coronavirus Model Predicting More Deaths
She also said that the model likely failed to note the continued mitigation parameters in both phases of the reopening plan.
“I’m not sure all of the mitigation parameters were taken into account,” she said.
President Donald Trump also expressed skepticism about the IHME model on Tuesday, noting their failure to include metrics for social distancing.
“Look, models have been very inaccurate, I’ve seen models that are very inaccurate,” Trump said at the White House when asked about the updated predictions.

    4. xXPoorQualityXx Being locked at home is better than being dead or perhaps giving the virus to your grand parents and killing them.

  4. Yesterday, the number of confirmed cases in USA was 1.2m and in South Korea 10k. The first case of coronavirus was discovered on the same day in both countries. South Korea follows SCIENCE. USA follows a MADMAN.

    1. @Crystal Giddens Models have to guess human behavior which is pretty unpredictable in an unprecedented situation like this. So not garbage in, but assumptions in.

    2. @Proper assumptions? anyone can make assumptions. garbage in garbage out = computer model is highly inaccurate and thus totally worthless. *< THAT! is NOT an assumption, it is a FACT!* Garbage! flipping a coin would be more accurate!

    3. Crystal Giddens its certainly not as accurate as your data gleaned from fringe conspiracy sites and random youtube vids.

      🤤

  5. “I used to say 65,000 and now I say 80 or 90…” He also used to say 15 and pretty soon that’s going to go down to zero. Right.

    1. @Ivan White But you can look at what corporations his campaign took/ takes money from and it’s actually less than literally everyone else. Also he’s donating more than some previous presidents had…

    2. He used to say 65,000, but that was before Gov. Cuomo moved covid19 patients back into the nursing homes.

    1. Ascended Nightingale mandatory doesn’t mean anything for me at least. I’m not getting that , I’ll hide somewhere before they come for me lol

    2. You mean reTHUGlicans always put money first. Get your facts straight.
Democrats, Independents and many other Americans care about people.

  6. A lot people don’t care because they think ‘it’s just an old person’s disease’

    1. Amy Falkenrath I can bet you that out of this 45 percent none of them are healthy . A large percentage of Americans are obese , have heart problems , have diabetes , smoke , etc .

    2. Michelle because they weren’t healthy . If you’re obese , diabetic , have heart or lung problems , are old , or just have a horrible immune system you will most likely die . There’s nothing we can do about that . And a vaccine won’t fix it

    3. yeah, but everyone has either grandparents, elderly parents, or are elderly themselves… talk about sociopathy…

    4. @Vic 34 flu is closer to 0.1% fatality, covid closer to 3%. 30x more fatal. And yes mainly older people with pre conditions are at risk for covid deaths.

But you forget the most important facts, about 20% will require a hospital stay. And even if you get a mild case it can involve weeks and weeks of fever and weakness. And the higher the viral load, i.e more people infected the higher chance of a worse Case for everyone. Like the 30 year old dr that died in china.

    5. You are right, a physician I know said that he has seen twenty six year olds and thirty year old on ventilators, and he doesn’t understand why people are not taking this more serious that then they are.

It clearly demonstrates how we no longer value life and care about humanity, and these odd ball statements of our present LEADER, does not help matters at all.

      L. Churchill

  7. Then that moron Jared holds a press conference and talks about the fantastic job they’ve done, and says that with a straight face. These are the most repulsive people to ever be near the White House.

    1. @Rod Steel didn’t Trump say that he has total authority..if so..why didn’t he do something

    2. @Rod Steel Was Nancy Pelosi and Bill De Blasio briefed about the virus that Trump said would disappear since your putting so much on them but of course you would..Trump can’t put a sentence together..I actually pity rather than despise his followers and as far as religion..they don’t know nothing about it otherwise they wouldn’t put up with his lies

    3. He called it a success story, not their success story. You contributed to our success story.

The story is not just COVID, though that is a central setting. …there is more going on that is in plain sight, and good compared to what could have happened.

    4. @yogi he did. He delegated. To his staff and to the governors. …true leadership is not being a boss, it is being a manager.

    1. There is, but it’s only appearing at a state and local level, when it isn’t being undermined.

    2. THESE FOOLS DON’T KNOW
      WHAT LEADERSHIP MEANS
IT TAKES MEN OF HONOR TO
      LEAD AND I HAVEN’T SEEN
      ONE YET 😄😄😄

  8. “Lives or livelihood” ?
    How dumb.
    Life comes before livelihood.
You can’t have a livelihood if you have no life.
    The sheer stupidity is maddening.

    1. That’s the argument being pushed by wealthy business owners. They can’t stand the thought of losing money, so they’re happy to order their employees into harm’s way. Landlords across the country have been sending intimidating letters to tenants about paying rent despite the moratorium on evictions, because otherwise property management firms and their investors won’t continue to make ridiculous profits while the world goes through a pandemic. Those are the kinds of ‘livelihoods’ that are threatened, the rich want to not only stay rich but maintain their rate of growth as if none of this should affect them.

    2. It’s a false dichotomy as well. We could be protecting the livelyhood of everyone that can’t work in this crisis through a universal basic income, and ensure small businesses won’t get wiped out when consumer confidence evaporates in the second wave of cases by allowing them to stay shut and avoid expenses for now.

    3. @Nonya Bidness BINGO! You are quite right. We need universal basic income AND universal health care. But we can not have them because that is “socialism” even though most developed non-socialist countries do.

    4. It was screwed up from day 1
On that 1st day SHUT DOWN 4 WEEKS LET THE VIRUS DIE OUT , then reopen

    1. You are a knucklehead. People are only flagged as covid19 victims when they take the test.

    2. @tubruton You might be closer than you realize. When 700,000 of Hillary’s emails that went to china are reviewed, the DIA will see what the Chinese knew more than Obama knew they knew. Shhh. don’t tell nobody, It’s a national security secret that Hillary violated the Espionage Act.

    3. @nosuchthing8 Wrong. In New Yaawk victims are being called covid19 regardless of whether the bodies have ever been tested. NY sucks up more federal aid that way.

    1. The only base that is being wiped out are fat, diabetic, unemployable, blue voters in the Northeast. Out in the red counties, springtime is beautiful.

    2. @Brucey in the sky With diamonds if had been impeached then we would not be facing such a high death toll.

    3. nosuchthing8 the death toll is false. They are putting covid on people’s death certificates that have tested negative . I have first hand experience. Put your hatred for the orange man aside and do a little research. The truth is more important than team sports politics.

  9. “You don’t know what you don’t know” should be put on billboards across America. It is an apt description of the ignorance of the public on the seriousness of covid-19.

Canada must keep the border closed to unnecessary traffic beyond May 20th. No driving to Alaska through Canada.

    1. @yang weilik if Canada builds a wall and Mexico builds a wall who’s going to build the roof. ..?.

    2. How is air travel suppose to resume now. It would be insane to put an American on an airplane without proving he or she isnt infected? This shortsightedness by American politicians puts the rest of the world at risk, not just the American people.

    3. Build a hard retaining wall and keep it stay up until there is 0 active cases in the US. Even including a small town in Minnesota that you have to drive through Ontario. Also, build a wall on the oceans too to keep boats and ships from departing from/arriving in the US.

Keep the traffic and travels until at least May 20th, _2022._

  10. Republicans celebrating in the streets shooting fireworks is absolutely sick. RIP to all who died.

    1. Bebo Maldonado economy needs to be running otherwise the great depression 2.0 will happen, without a working system there will be no system to run. You make a good point but we need move forward WITH SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.

    2. @Carl Grimes Yes, but we have a lot of selfish people who don’t want to follow social distancing and don’t want to wear masks. And we’re crap on testing and contact tracing. That basically means we’re screwed.

    3. TheNinthGeneration great depression took over 10 years to get back on its feet and during ww2 we still felt some of it last effects

    4. Carl Grimes yes, but we still had workers to repair the damage, if you have no workers available to generate a gdp, you will never recover, dead people impact the economy more than a temporary market lockdown, because dead people are not temporary

  11. At 50,000 people dead, he claims a good job, at 60,000 he claims a spectacular job, at 100,000 he’ll probably claim victory…..shame.

  12. It’s not just Trump’s fault, the GOP in the Senate are to just as much to blame, they had a chance, but fluffed it.

    1. The fun and easy 5 Step Approach to “no content” MAGA-regurgitator bots:
1: Quote the MAGA-regurgitator bot’s foul drivel letter to letter.
      2: Dissect the MAGA-regurgitator bot’s foul drivel.
      3: Debunk the MAGA-regurgitator bot’s foul drivel.
      4: Ridicule the MAGA-regurgitator bot’s foul drivel.
5: Never respond directly to the MAGA-regurgitator bot’s foul drivel.
The 5 step approach to delusional MAGA-regurgitator bots is the only safe and hygienic way to handle regurgitated MAGA manure.

    2. This is the 1st time in history that America has become a joke to the rest of the world. The blamethrower doesn’t listen to anyone except if they are praising him

    3. If the head of the fish stinks it is perfectly logical to assume the entire fish is putrid and therefore not eat it. Let them eat fish!

    4. trump doesn’t listen to anyone!! So it pretty much is the man holding the position of President. That is a joke itself.

    5. The only people that are to blame is the American Public.
They have sat back & Whined about their Corrupt, Lying, Demented leader for over 3.5 years now & NEVER held him accountable for ANYTHING!!

    1. The liberal media and the so called “experts” want us to believe that injecting disinfectants or putting a tanning bulb up your bum is somehow a bad idea. smh

    2. Obviously Trump forgot to mention that one can’t use straight bleach. He forgot to mention that you have to dilute a solution with 1 part bleach and 9 parts water so it can be used as an disinfectant.

    3. @tubruton liberal media spliced together the footage. it wasn’t even live but the liberal media fooled us into thinking it was and then as if that wasn’t bad enough, they computer generated those words to make it seem like they came out of his mouth. waaaa, he’s treated so unfairly said no educated person ever

    1. lots of leftist idiots who can’t analyze data, but only look at 2 numbers for a huge nation. same people can’t explain how India has less deaths than connecticut, and Mexico has a fraction of the deaths of Germany

    2. NOT news. gunfreaks and Nazis elected trump, the US has perpetrated world chaos through war since Bush/Cheney’s oil quest for their cash providers, and even having the wrng state license plate has in the past couple decades brought problems. The whole “patriotism” thing with hate of all others and pretense that one is superior because USA, shows that crazy was already endemic for 40 years.

    3. Sina Tabatabai On the contrary, the countries with the higher levels of trust in their governments are the ones who’ve succeeded in battling the virus. This crisis is showing that trust is a vital factor in successfully dealing with a pandemic.

    4. Walter White Thats not correct. Public health officials and intelligence officials have been warning for nearly a generation that a pandemic was going to come. We just haven’t been listening.

    1. Jo-Erlend Schinstad – you seem very uninformed. Are you even reading anything related to all this?
