Dwayne Haskins 911 calls reveal fearful wife and panicked witness | USA TODAY

In addition to the 911 calls, Florida Highway Patrol also released a traffic crash incident that indicated Haskins was struck by a second vehicle after the dump truck made initial contact.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins was walking on a "limited access facility (highway/expressway) for unknown reasons" around 6:37 a.m. The FHP said he was attempting to cross westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when he was hit by a dump truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, per the FHP, and traffic homicide investigators were on the scene.

The highway patrol added that there are live-feed cameras near the scene, but footage is not recorded and that the dump truck driver stayed on the scene following the accident and no arrests have been made.

  1. Poor guy and his family. Too many awful things happen to people suffering with mental health crises.

  2. If you run out of gas, stay in your vehicle and call 911. This happened to us while travelling in the fast lane of a busy LA freeway.

  3. The Highway patrol stopped traffic and got us to the shoulder. We were in the fast lane, so had to cross 4 or 5 lanes. Be safe, stay in your car & turn on flashers. RIP. Sad.
