Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson leaves door open to future presidential run

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said he’s been “blown away” by the calls for him to launch a White House bid, but maintained that his focus at the moment is raising his family.
“I’m just really grounded and humbled by the interest on both sides. But the No.1 job, and my No. 1 title, that I love right now is daddy,” the actor and pro wrestling legend told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview that aired on “CNN Tonight” Tuesday.
Asked if that meant he was ruling out a future presidential run down the line, Johnson left the door open.
“I have seriously considered it. You have to. When you start looking at some of these polls, and these numbers creep up into the 46%, 50% of the country would vote for me should I run, and I have been – I’ve been really moved by that,” he said. “I mean, truly, it sat me down.”
Johnson is a father of three: Jasmine Lia, 6, and Tiana Gia, 4, with his wife Lauren Hashian, and Simone Alexandra, 21, from a previous marriage.#jaketapper #therock #CNN

      😂😂😂😂

Not really, there’s loads of other people I’m not particularly fond of, mainly politicos it must be said.

They can be such a bother.

    2. I was wondering if you’ve heard of the Department of Health and Human Services support program to help people now.

  1. “I don’t know anything about politics.” No, and thank you for realizing that. The Rock seems like a decent guy but he’s an actor. We need people who are experienced and understand policy. Not actors or god forbid, game show hosts.

  2. He is a genuine person, focusing on what is important to him and capable of admitting he doesn’t know politics. I think he also knows, with the polarized political climate, no matter what party he runs for, half of the country will instantly hate him, for the wrong reasons and look for anyway to discredit him.

    1. @Gseric47 Considering he was making the comment that when you’re a star women will let you grab them, I couldn’t care less. Let’s not act like people are all saints when they are having private conversations.

    2. @Zen Quantum You seem to think he had any authority to do such a thing. You should understand that we have no democracy in the United States and haven’t since long before Trump.

  3. As much as I like the Rock, I gotta say, “OH HELL NO!” because I’m tired of celebrities going into politics

    1. @Jillionairess Richard Nixon was the president who declared the war on drugs, every president since then has done little to nothing about ending it.

  4. The Rock is a good guy. I doubt he’ll ever run. It isn’t what he is interested in doing. He knows he can make more of a difference as a private citizen helping people, then being president of the United States. The guy is dedicated to his daughters, which is really very sweet. He was on the show Ballers, which got cancelled a few years ago. That was a great show.

    1. @Chris topher ???
No, really ??? I tried to find a way to fit your message into anything that… Wellll, just ???

    2. @TheHighlanderprime imposter of what? Oh, you consider her a “Russian asset”. Same as Andrew Yang, right? How about Ben Carson? Surprised you don’t consider Dwayne some sort of “asset” too.

  5. This country has had some very poor results when it comes to entertainers/actors holding office. Unlike Ukraine, we haven’t yet successfully attracted the right one to take up the challenge. That’s because of us the people, in our ability or inability to make sound decisions in our choices. But there’s really no mistaking in believing “The Rock” would greatly excel in the endeavor far above most of our past experiences. (Of course that’s not necessarily much of task based solely on recent experience.)
What makes him so desirable and qualified is not his on screen/stage character personification but the person he is off the screen/stage. I don’t believe I’ve ever heard any negative publicity associated with him. That tells me a lot about his true character.
I don’t believe our Founding Fathers ever intended nor envisioned this nation to be ran solely by ‘professional’ politicians. Washington stepped down after two terms and basically said it’s time for somebody else to take a turn at it. He could have remained for the rest of his life but he chose not to, recognizing the ideals being proposed by their infant nation. I believe his idea, as was with many others at the time, this new nation was founded on an idea that the older ways of aristocratic/elite heritage with life long appointments were corruptive and should become a thing of the past. The words they spoke suggests that no one should gain excessive or unnecessary power and control. That the common people should be included in having a voice and control over their lives to the endeavor of benefiting all. To me that means people from all stations of life should join and take turns temporarily participating in government of the people to provide those elements, recognizing and understanding, necessary for an equal benefit of all. Unfortunately, we don’t see much of that. The Constitution is often seemingly vague on some points, but we often forget or overlook some things. First it was written by a group of men, who like all men have some flaws. Next morals, ethics, honor, chivalry, etc were very commonly desired and practiced traits at that time. They mistakenly assumed that some things were not necessarily conceivable. They did however recognize some human characterics could be easily corrupted and made some allowances to affect change, to the Constitution, as needed to compensate for it. As well as update it when necessary to fit within the present. But that still requires an ample amount of the traits listed above. Again, unfortunately we don’t see much of that.
I’d like to see ‘The Rock’ as a President. I believe he’d do a fine job. He easily overall represents the average person. As long as he remembers, how success in politics will be measured is affected by; how he can relate to people; who he chooses to associate; who he chooses for advice; the impact or consequence of his choices; and his choice of responsibility for decisions. He displays well above ample amount of the traits, therefore, I confidently believe he’d choose wisely and effectively.

  6. Can you imagine during the next state of the union address, President rock comes out and grabs the microphone yelling “can you smell what the rock is cooking!!”

  7. Wow, he can really speak words well. Listening to Hershey Walker, you would think speaking is some kind of tough sport.

    2. Wow,so I’m guessing you’re not taking into account the possibility of multiple concussions which can effect someone’s speaking. Of course Dwayne doesn’t have that problem. He wasn’t taking multiple chair shots to the (he gave several to Mick Foley at the 1999 Royal Rumble when the match got out of hand). Look at what happened to Chris Benoit after taking concussions.

  8. I wouldn’t mind having the Rock as president, as long as he ran as an independent, and surrounded himself with competent, ethical people.

  9. hey jake,i just want to say thank you for asking mr rock that question, but even more thankful that you let him answer you and as long as it took, you didnt interupt him like alot of news hosts do,so thank you so much for this rare opportunity to hear this beautiful man, i hope he runs but he is also so right about privacy and his kids,if he runs that will be gone for the rest of there lives, alot of people never think about that when they want to be president, this is how i know this guy def will not run for president and i cant say i blame him .

  10. He is exactly what we need, he is young, in touch with society, appreciates the average man and most importantly knows nothing about politics, he is untainted by the current political ses pool that Is our government. He can honestly create change this way. Get some close, TRUSTED advisors and trust your heart, he’ll be fine!!!

    1. That’s a pretty naive take, how is he somehow untainted by the political climate? Even if he does get elected, he wouldn’t be able to change much of anything, the president only has limited power and doesn’t control the government.

  11. As much as I enjoy his movies, we don’t need another celebrity president, we need a capable and competent leader.
Respect to DJ for coming on CNN and turning it down flat out and for speaking of the importance of his kids too.
Can’t wait to see Black Adam.

  12. I appreciate his honesty. And he is an intelligent and articulate person who is fully aware of his limitations but open to the potential of something bigger than himself. If nothing else, I see genuine humility in him and that is lacking right now in most politicians today.

  13. EVERY SINGLE person who’s ever met this guy has had nothing but good things to say about him I’ve never voted but I would come out and vote for the rock .
