Epidemiologist: Too soon for Ontario and Quebec to loosen COVID-19 restrictions

Infection Control Epidemiologist Colin Furness says that there is a risk for Ontario to reopen, but Quebec is almost certainly relaxing regulations too soon.

  1. Germany reported a reproduction rate of 0.7 at end of lock down. It quickly rose to 1.0 post lock down. Can we hear this metric for Canada?

    1. For different parts of Canada. Unlike Germany our geographic size needs multiple measures.

    2. @gentle peachy We probably should as well. Asian countries are doing better and wearing masks. Worse case it doesn’t help a great deal and we all look silly for the summer. Think of the selfies with Covid tan lines.

  2. Ontario needs more testing to identify where CoVID-19 in the community. We need a stratified testing protocol.

  3. Eastern Ontario doesnt end at Toronto. My south eastern ontario City has no deaths and few contained virus cases.
    Open things up slowly but surely.
