Esper ‘Needs To Stay The Hell At The Pentagon’: Honore On Trump Military Threat | All In | MSNBC

  1. Trump: “When I said, ‘Go to the church,’ I didn’t know protesters or not. Nobody tells me that. No one tells me anything around here. Like during that solar eclipse, no one told me not to stare directly at it. So they say, ‘Yes my Lord, we’ll go to the church.'”

“When I went, I didn’t say, ‘Oh, move them out’—I didn’t know who was there. I simply told them to dominate the streets. I figured I was just going to take a leisurely stroll over to the church,  very nearby, and in the spirt of Caligula, casually dominate everything along the way.”

“So we walked over to the church – It was a very fast walk, but not too fast. It could’ve been faster, but Bill “lunchbox” Barr kept slowing me down. I think it was very symbolic. Yes, I did hold up a Bible, but not for too long, because that Bible got really really hot. It started to burn my hands. It must have been one of those deep state Bibles or something.”

  2. One of the most revered leaders of my beloved Marine Corps denounced Trump for his divisive and authoritarian actions against American citizens, and against our Constitution.
    Semper Fi…

“I have watched this week’s unfolding events, angry and appalled. The words ‘Equal Justice Under Law’ are carved in the pediment of the United States Supreme Court. This is precisely what protesters are rightly demanding. It is a wholesome and unifying demand—one that all of us should be able to get behind. We must not be distracted by a small number of lawbreakers. The protests are defined by tens of thousands of people of conscience who are insisting that we live up to our values—our values as people and our values as a nation. We must reject and hold accountable those in office who would make a mockery of our Constitution.”

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us. We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”

“Instructions given by the military departments to our troops before the Normandy invasion reminded soldiers that ‘The Nazi slogan for destroying us … was “Divide and Conquer.” Our American answer is “In Union there is Strength.”’ We must summon that unity to surmount this crisis—confident that we are better than our politics.”

“When I joined the military, some 50 years ago, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. Never did I dream that troops taking that same oath would be ordered under any circumstance to violate the Constitutional rights of their fellow citizens—much less to provide a bizarre photo op for the elected commander-in-chief, with military leadership standing alongside.”

    –Marine General James Mattis
      June 3, 2020

    1. very very nicely written David…thank you for sharing these words with us…and Thank You SIR for your service

    2. As a former Marine (always a Marine) I am sickened by Mattis. He FINALLY stands up with some f’ing balls and says what he should have been saying a LONG TIME AGO.
General Mattis, you enabled TRUMP for a long long long time. You, and others, need to come out strong all of the time and speak up against Trump. You know he is dangerous and bad for America and the world. You know he is.
It has taken you THIS F’ING LONG to really rip into Trump? Really?
You knew when you worked for him he was nuts and not fit for office. You did not do America a favor by working for Trump, you helped hurt America. It is time for you and the rest of the military to speak up and help America elect a new president.

    3. @James Davis I have thought about what you are saying James and always figured he stayed because him and McMaster felt like they were the only ones between Trump and one of his dangerous and stupid ideas. But yes. It’s not like everyone who joined Trump didn’t know he was a bad person before they even got involved.

    4. And what does Baby Boo-bag tweet in the face of this eloquent statement? Mattis is “the world’s most overrated general”. Nyah, so there. “I know more about ISIS than many generals”. Pathetic.

    1. @Jim P I will save up all my money, buying a flight ticket – if it’s safe to fly – AND I WILL WAVE TOGHEHER WIHT YOU, bringing my DANISH FLAG

    2. @Augie Rockero he’d be a martyr then. Death would be doing him a favor. Traitors need to be punished slowly

    1. that is how generals talk. they can not have ambiguity talking to their troops. it becomes a habit beginning way down at junior officer level. troops look of decisive forthright command.

    2. It’s easy to be “candid” when you’re retired. America is full of such people. All of them, “former”.

    3. @Jim Battersbee Not true. I worked for generals that were very well spoken. They are not former they retain their rank when they retire.

  3. On May 28, Donald Trump demanded the First Amendment right of free speech for himself on privately owned social media, *and then, four days later, declared war on the people, gathered on public property, as they sought, in the words of the amendment itself, “to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”*

*The right of assembly is an important First Amendment right,* one treasured by the founding generation and the First Congress, which wrote the amendment, and one re-won two centuries later at great pain by the labor, civil-rights, and anti-war movements. *The show of force that swept peaceful protesters from Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C., was an assault—and perhaps only one of a series of assaults—on that right.*

  4. It’s really telling that the Secretary of Defense has no idea what the President’s doing. A confederacy of dunces is running the country.

    1. I believe a confederacy of dunces is too kind.
Some of these people in power are aware of the path we have been set upon and are ecstatic.

    2. He’s been appointed Secretary of Defense exactly because of his lack of spine and conscience.

  5. This should tell people exactly who the military is loyal to the constitution and the American people

    1. There are many members of the armed forces that would only too willingly follow the instructions of a dictator tRump. Simply because they despise democracy with it^s rules and civil oversight over the military.
Have you not seen the secretary of defense and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff trotting behind the president yesterday? The US military is infested with enemies of our democracy

    1. Bunker baby! He’s got his widdle fisties all balled up and he’s shaking in his crib.

    2. I know, Bunker Boy is in the oval office. Curled up in the fetal position. Sucking his thumb. Holding his insecurity blanket. Crying I take no responsibility.

    1. So is Do As I Say, Not As I Do. Less than 2 weeks ago, Trump was cheerleading people flocking to the beach, barber shops, etc., against public health advisories. Now he’s the Law and Order President.

    1. @Samuel Wiley Heyyy! How you doing Sammy? Y’think Donnie’s gonna win himself another term? You one of them thar landslide fellers? Trump gonna get that elusive majority vote? h’yuck!

    2. This IS the Senate Republicans — they don’t agree with you. They’re along for the rid,e supporting, lying for him, deceiving the American people en masse with propaganda (goes well being “spin”) … evil GOP must go away forever. Those folks need to come up with a new party.

    3. @Greg Gilbert BS, Trump yelled for “Russia if you find the emails”. Bubba, you don’t lie like the Liar Racist Trump. Blame, Spin, Blame, Spin – Trumps “out” for everything. You know how many times Putin’s Puppet has called his daddy?? How about when AG Barr dropped the criminal charges against Flynn. How about before Putin’s Puppet Trump’s walk from the WH to the Church of the Presidents, to discuss Strategic Weapon plan using Military Force against UNARMED INNOCENT Americans. Yeah, Trump calls Putin and is proud of it.

    1. Our military is supposed to remain apolitical. Trump tries to undermine that. Trump is an evil tyrant who is a threat to our republic.

    2. @J Rosner
That’s fair. But how about speaking on tyranny and injustice, incompetence and stupidity? How about speaking on the abuse of the Constitution?
I guess that takes guts they don’t have.

    3. @MegaGolgo13
If Trump is a “threat to the republic” it’s the military’s sworn duty to defend that republic, not to cow-tow to his fascism.
You’ll think twice before you say “thankyou for your service” ever again.

  6. He’s violated military protocol, which is you don’t divulge ANY information to anyone that doesn’t have the, “need to know”. Remember when he “took” the WH in the beginning of his term, he bragged to his Russian contantacs that received great information every morning ! That WAS classified information ! The russian’s probably already knew, but to hear from the US President ?

  7. The White House junkyard dog got his chain yanked by the people standing up for justice and Democracy!

    1. @Rod There are more protesters than looters and rioters. You should also watch the news from around the world. You will see how thousands of people from around the world are also protesting in solidarity with Americans against police brutality and racism. If Trump isn’t careful he will create a revolution in the USA just like the Spring Arab Revolutions which occurred a decade ago!

    1. Erdogan also relies on an uneducated but religious rural proletariat for support and is conducting a covert war on the middle-class, urban intellectuals and journalists.

    2. @Sterling Pound Trump ultimate dream is to become like Erdogan or Putin, he likes them and calls them “Powerful men”

    3. T-Rump compared to Erdogan…Interesting…I was comparing him to Chicago Mayor Daley in 1968…

    4. @Googol Get off the old Cold War McCarthyism…and Erdogan is just as nuts as T-Rump…

  8. dt is a sickness that the ignorant willfully chase to be infected by.

His base and those that stand silent when he acts out in his petulance are accomplices.

    1. @Rod You are entitled to your opinion, but you do not make up “facts.” You have no idea what I take to be true and false from any news outlet. Simply calling news outlets “fake news” is simply false.
It has only one purpose, and it is the same purpose that is used by all dictatorships and other authoritarian regimes.
Calling news outlets fake news did not orriginally come from you. Who did you get that from? The answer is Trump. That means also that you blindly follow Trump regardless the FACT that he is a pathological liar. You Don’t believe that he is? Of course you don’t. The big D gets a little in the way.
How do I know that? In the eighties I was involved with a very pretty young lady. I was warned by many, including her own sister.
She was an alcoholic, a sociopath (in some bizarre ways) and a compulsive, impulsive, pathological liar. For some time I had been told, until finally it hit me right in the face. Looking back, I feel embarrassed about not having seen that all along. Lesson learned, I can smell them a mile away. I convince people who are coughed up in televangelist scams, so that they stop sending them money. But it is much harder to change a cult follower’s mind.

    2. @Rod Willful ignorance is the ideology of trumpism. Objective fact does not require your belief or participation, it is true regardless. A lie requires ignorance or obtuse disregard. 17,000 lies requires a brainless cult, devoid of morality.
