I cannot say I’ve heard much of Putin’s speeches but … if you believed him or fell for him in the past .. this should be a stark wake up call .. everything he said there was utterly irrational.

I think he knows he massively underestimated the resistance from Ukraine in addition to the sanctions and with the peace talks he may even look for a way out that makes him look strong in the eyes of his people. It’s always leadership that’s the problem, and the lack of the ability to maneuver through difficulties by injuring the least amount of people that causes disastrous results. We all know that the top of the Russian government is structurally broken.
I visited Russia (St. Petersburg) for three days a few years ago and had a great time and made some good friends. I loved having Russian fast food (not Western) and exploring some amazing places. I enjoyed seeing the ordinary people going about a free life and prospering. I have absolutely no feelings against the people. They are cultured, smart and simply want a better life. This entire fiasco is the product of the warped, kleptomaniac mind of a tyrant. His legacy is not one of greatness but one of a dictator and tyrant and I hope decent Russians can cleanse their society of this man and his small band of yes-men. Russian people deserve better.
