Ezra Klein: Trump ‘Never Wanted To Do The Hard Work Of Daily Governance’ | The Last Word | MSNBC

Ezra Klein, co-founder of Vox, tells Lawrence O’Donnell the federal government has completely failed to execute a coronavirus response plan, and as a result, “we’re all suffering for it.” He adds any other administration in President Trump’s position would develop and execute a detailed recovery plan and use it for their reelection campaign. Ezra Klein: Trump ‘Never Wanted To Do The Hard Work Of Daily Governance’ | The Last Word | MSNBC

  1. Isn’t it ironic that Trump would hold his project managers on his show The Apprentice as ultimately responible for how a task was judged as successful or not and he is is constantly passing his buck and blame on everyone else for the fiasco of his presidency? He is the epitome of a hypocrite.

    1. @long nose Yes, Donald is guilty of putting peoples´ life at risk. He refuses to accept science, doctors and other expertise. He has no plan how to diminish the danger of this crisis. He has no plans for anything because he does not want to work, think and reflect about anything. This crazy, immature baby just wants attention and bragging about what a “stable genius” he is with the great and unmatched wisdom” His press conferences are lunacy, no answer to questions put, he changes the subject to brag about himself, babbling about what a fantastic, tremendous job he is doing. Everybody with a normal IQ condemns his disgusting behavior, insults, name-callings and bragging. The only thing this disgusting, incompetent man cares about are his ratings and to get re-elected. Another four years with this lunatic would make America a fascist, racist dictatorship based on lies, insane conspiracies and bragging. The economy will be without control, people will suffer from lack of social welfare, the infrastructure will get worse than it already is, the environment destroyed. Left is a corrupt, malignant narcissist playing golf, sending the most vulgar insults on twitter and insane rallies where he energizes his profoundly stupid and manipulated fans with lies. Try to face reality: Donald is a complete disaster and a disgrace and insult to all Americans, including those who still have not understood that he is not working for them, he works against them and for himself and rich corporations. Wake up for heavens sake!

    2. @doing the right thing The fool is working in the wrong direction for being re-elected. The more dead and sick the less his chances. No plan how to limit the numbers,
no plan for the economy. No plans for anything, he never had. Donald wants to play golf, watch TV and tweet about how misunderstood the stable genius is and insulting people who are not loyal to “the chosen one”. What a sad mistake of a human being.

  2. Remember Biden 2020 in November or 4 more years of this nightmare life everyday , death and depression under trump

    1. Remember that guy who sniffs children and has dementia, and was also accused of sexual assault but it doesnt count cause hes a democrat

    2. @Fluid Waves
Remember that guy who ADMITTED to being a serial sexual assaulter who wants to bang his own daughter and who suffers from syphilitic dementia and malignant narcissism?

    3. There will never be 4 more years of Trump. There may not even be a USA if he is re-elected.

  3. Expertly said. Trump only wants the part of the job that allows him fame, the easy path, and he is lashing out at those that are quite simply asking him to his job

    1. Trump wants the US Govt to provide a stipend that secures his empire. The nation needs vigilant and forthright IGs to inspect how the tax-payers money is being spent.

    2. @Fluid Waves Strange sir, I thought #45 was voted to work for the people, not people(voters/supporters) to do the work for him?

  4. “Never wanted to do the hard work of daily governance.”
Shoot, Trump never bothered to do the hard work of anything. Trump is a corner cutting cheat and conman who bullied and BS’d his way through every last deal he’s ever done. Trump is almost as lazy as he is stupid.

    1. People do not appreciate the evident fact that Trump has a “borderline” IQ, 85 at best. Such people go thru the motions of seeming normal while always being out of their depth.

    2. @Judith Shultes Ah yes, the mysterious world of commas!
That magical little vertical arc that makes all the difference between “Let’s eat, mom!” and “Let’s eat mom!”

    1. Trump is lazy, stupid, egoistic, irresponsible and now sinile. Has anyone noticed that he acts like he understood the question, but incapable of grammatically completing a single sentence to his answer? The truth is the man is too stupid to understand complex questions and subjects…like what matters to America?

    1. @Robert Bennie or – maybe he grew up in a home where he had everything given to him with no responsibility attached. Love, affection, money, education, clothing, food, etc.,etc. Not being taught gratitude, service, responsibility and instead being surrounded by a constant sense of entitlement can also lead to a lack of empathy and narcissistic behavior. He was born with a silverspoon in His mouth and His Daddy bailed him out at every turn.

    2. @PKay Gray I reckon he received everything other than the love and affection. That is all that kids want and everything that little Donnie didn’t get. Just too sad for words.

    3. @Robert Bennie do any of us really get the love and affection we need from our parent’s – or anyone else for that matter? Our souls are always in a constant search for love and acceptance. That’s how God designed us. I haven’t found a person on earth even close to feeling satisfied 100% when it comes to love – except for people who are in a deep and meaningful relationship with God. Those people seem to have everything they need.

    4. @PKay Gray I respectfully withdraw from the conversation. I have no desire to be preached at.

    1. @C B Trump 2020. He is still here after everything they tried to get rid of him. Smarter than all of them put together. Plays them every day. He only said he had final say knowing they would then want it. He gave it to them good.

    2. @Hanny Hawkins Trump 2020. He was cautiously following other Countries who were a month ahead of us. (That’s how he (we) learned, no one knew really). And the NATION-WIDE lockdown you consider (a step or two)?? More like a giant leap! I suppose he should have taken Melania down to the White House basement and cooked up a cure. Of course, you all would fault that.😩

    3. Jeff In Chicago Not true. South Korea had its first case on the same day the US did. Trump has wasted the lockdown by not getting testing, contact tracing and containment in place, all of which are necessary to reap the benefits of the lockdown. Without them, the virus will flare up again and A,Erica won’t know where and won’t be able to contain the outbreaks. Without these three vital tools, lifting the lockdown is just giving up and accepting herd immunity as he only option.

    4. Never have read the American Constitution have you? Authority he has in spades the Responsibility always rests in the Local State Government! Wouldn’t you say its about time to learn what is written in our Constitution? Strange that Trump did nothing in the first months argument falls flat on its face when you do a simple websearch = What did Trump do to combat the Coronavirus early on. Strange that all of the far left news sights were saying Trump should have shut down America in January and when he did finally do that they were quick to say he does not have the Authority to do it. The same far left news that refused to air his Coronavirus task force daily briefings saying its all BS lies then gets all upset when Trump says lets end them. No way to win with the deranged dishonest democrat liars who own the Main Stream Media!

  5. Trump was never capable at any point in his life of adequately performing the job of president.

  6. So great to hear a young man, who can speak the truth coherently and calmly.–His brain actually works, he is filled with powerful train of thought, and speaks the truth!–
(So different from listening and watching Trump lie and become distant & confused.)

  7. Trump thought he could just BS his way through the presidency the same way he has BS’ed his way through life, and everything would be just fine. In the end, he really doesn’t care what happens to the country. It’s all just a game to him, and the objective of the game is for him to abstract as much personal wealth as he can before everyone finally realizes that he has no clue what he’s doing. He has done the exact same thing with his fake charity foundation , his fake university, and his casinos.

Even as his casinos did poorly, Trump did well. He put up little of his own money, shifted personal debts to the casinos and collected millions of dollars in salary, bonuses and other payments. The burden of his failures fell on investors and others who had bet on his business acumen. And that is Trump in a nutshell. A narcissistic sociopathic con-man who only cares about himself, and will use others to achieve his own self-serving desires.

In interviews with The Times, Trump acknowledged that high debt and lagging revenues had plagued his casinos. He repeatedly emphasized that what really mattered about his time in Atlantic City was that he had made a lot of money there.

Trump assembled his casino empire by borrowing money at such high interest rates — after telling regulators he would not — that the businesses had almost no chance to succeed.

His casino companies made four trips to bankruptcy court, each time persuading bondholders to accept less money rather than be wiped out. But the companies repeatedly added more expensive debt and returned to the court for protection from lenders.

After narrowly escaping financial ruin in the early 1990s by delaying payments on his debts, Trump avoided a second potential crisis by taking his casinos public and shifting the risk to stockholders.

And he never was able to draw in enough gamblers to support all of the borrowing. During a decade when other casinos there thrived, Trump’s lagged, posting huge losses year after year. Stock and bondholders lost more than $1.5 billion.

Trump now says that he left Atlantic City at the perfect time. Well no sh’t. He left after he had ruined everything, and there was no more money for him to grift.  The record shows that he struggled to hang on to his casinos years after the city had peaked, and failed only because his investors no longer wanted him in a management role.

He just did not put the equity into the projects he should have to keep them solvent,” said H. Steven Norton, a casino consultant.  “When he went bankrupt, he not only cost bondholders money, but he hurt a lot of small businesses that helped him construct the Taj Mahal.”

In an interview with the Times, Trump said “Atlantic City was a very good cash cow for me for a long time.”  Like a true sociopath, Trump boasts about how he ravaged Atlantic City, without any regard for all the people and businesses he hurt along the way.

Beth Rosser of West Chester, Pa., is still bitter over what happened to her father, whose company Triad Building Specialties nearly collapsed when Trump took the Taj into bankruptcy. It took three years to recover any money owed for his work on Trump’s casino” she said, and her father received only 30 cents on the dollar.

“Trump crawled his way to the top on the back of little guys, one of them being my father,” said Ms. Rosser, who runs Triad today. “He had no regard for thousands of men and women who worked on those projects.”

“He put a number of local contractors and suppliers out of business when he didn’t pay them,” said Steven P. Perskie, who was New Jersey’s top casino regulator in the early 1990s. “So when he left Atlantic City, it wasn’t, ‘Sorry to see you go.’ It was, ‘How fast can you get the he// out of here?’”

    1. David J Thanks David for your thorough report. He is doing repeat performance in the White House now. Most Americans are saying the same thing now. How fast can you get out of our White House.

    2. David…..Forbes reported that Trump POCKETS $1.2 MILLION EVERY SINGLE TIME he goes to Mar-A-Lago for a weekend….He usually goes for 3 DAYS, and charges the US Taxpayers for all the rooms used by his Aides and Security Detail, which is 65 ROOMS…..He could golf at Camp David which would cost the US taxpayers ALMOST NOTHING since they OWN the property and golf course…but Trump and his 3 Little Pigs have their greedy snouts in the public trough at all times…

    3. Well, the Dotard did tell the truth during his campaign when he said he would run the USA like he runs his businesses. His supporters do not care if he runs the USA into the ground as long as he hates the same things they hate – I know because I live with one of them.

  8. Trumpery (noun) = something without use or value; rubbish; trash; worthless stuff. nonsense; twaddle:

Clearly, this is in Trump’s name!

    1. @Dennis Barnes Why would you assume that the name ‘Clinton’ is the way to ARP’s heart? You seem desperate.

    2. @Dennis Barnes Don’t worry. Trump will not win this fall, your vote will not matter. 😉

    3. @Dennis Barnes to the comment you deleted….can we just both agree that me shattering that glass ceiling is far more likely to happen than Trump getting a second term? 😀

    4. There is something called the psychology of judgments which is helping to architect a depression.

      https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/theory-knowledge/201305/making-judgments-and-being-judgmental%3famp

It brings new meaning to we are all in this together!

The question is who is helping to architect a depression by judging comments, views and lifestyle?

People are committing suicide already because of all of the judgments!

Security is also a feeling in this definition “the quality or state of being secure: such as freedom from danger : SAFETY”

Not only do we now have an angry mob attacking each other online we also have a pandemic lockdown helping to architect a depression.

“There is much danger in judging, by sight or preconceived opinions, for you input your own judgments to the thoughts of other’s.” Francis Bird 🐦

I’m not judging you, it’s a hard thing to master not judging the material world! Answers come if you ask!

  9. I’ve been around since President Carter. I have never seen a lazy U.S. president until now. Trump never wanted to work hard in his life. It is time for us to look for solutions, instead of to him, to save our own lives.

    1. @Kathryn Shaw I remember reading a political science text book one day and discovered something I read that I never thought of. In the page I read, one congresswoman said that to be a politician, you only have to care. Seeing how Trump not caring about us, I now see her point. You don’t have to be smart or rich, you just have to care.

    2. Peace…..His LAZINESS is truly ASTOUNDING…he can’t even BOTHER to READ a ONE PAGE Daily Presidential Briefing summary every morning because it cuts into his Fox & Fiends viewing…..which is why he is so IGNORANT and MISINFORMED of the world around him….and then he comes out with SHOCKING statements like “Who could have seen a Virus like this coming?”, which is what he said in April…..If he had bothered to pay attention, there were HUNDREDS of WARNINGS and BRIEFINGS since he took office….

    3. He puts all his time into watching TV shows that stroke his ego and then finding a camera to talk in front of even if he’s clueless.

    4. @James Irving I bet you he doesn’t know geography than a fifth-grader. He wants to open up the economy by Easter as if he is a God fearing man. Does he acted like a God fearing man to you as U.S. pandemic death toll is rising while he catches his daily FOX n FRIENDS news which continues to rub his ego? Ivan Pavlov’s psychological ‘a dog and salivation’ theory/experiment is a true statement. It is true with Trump’s behavior when he only salivates to things he likes.

  10. Trump the man who would have no time to play golf, he would be working all the time. Since becoming President 264 visits to his golf courses and vastly exceeding the number of times Obama visited the golf course in 8 years. Oh I forgot he couldn’t deal with the Coronavirus because he was distracted, Russia Hoax, Impeachment, Ukraine but apparently lots of time to play golf and hold rallies.

  11. The reality show President keeps waiting for somebody to yell “Cut” “End Seen” so he can go golf.

  12. The Republican Party House and Senate with Trump are wholly complicit in stealing Tri

    1. How could a White man do this to America, I thought we could trustworthy White men to save our country , not trick his own people. 🤔

  13. Is it now clear to everyone that we’ve been the victims of a MAGA hoax? Get this Orange Hemmorhoid out of office and out of our lives!

  14. When Trump is long gone from the White House, Republicunts will pretend like they were never part of his cult. . . We wont let them run away from the trail of deaths Trump caused as they are complicit.

    1. Absolutely right. Many republican politicians will also be on their deathbeds denouncing their allegiance to the cult as a final hail mary play to redeem their legacies.
