Trump made racist comments about Judge Gonzalo Curiel, “I have a judge who is a hater of Donald Trump, a hater. He’s a hater,”…saying he couldn’t get a fair decision from Judge Curiel because he was “of Mexican heritage.” Decades ago Trump was successfully prosecuted for housing discrimination, when he refused to rent to black families. Fred Trump, Donald’s father was a card carrying hood wearing member of the KKK.
Not only does Trump have zero political savvy…he’s a compulsive liar, he’s a repugnant misogynist, and a complete IDIOT. Trump is doing his best to deconstruct environmental protections in favor of policies that benefit industry, regardless of the health consequences for the country….and he’s doing it for personal and political profit.
But back to Trump’s racism. He launched his campaign talking about Mexican “rapists”…and subsequently stirred up xenophobia against many other groups, especially Muslims.
Trump’s racist pitch succeeded, why??…because the republican party is overwhelmingly white, and has relied heavily on dog whistle appeals to racism since the early 1960’s.
Trump is appealing to the aggrieved privilege of white republicans who feel threatened by America’s changing demographics and challenges to the traditional racial hierarchy in the age of Obama.
White racists see themselves as benefitting from Trump’s proposal to shore up the old racist status quo. The racist value system deserves to be challenged, but they aren’t being fooled by Trump. They know exactly what he’s selling…and they like it.
